Ken, it would seem they might be behind planned schedule but that is not uncommon.

There is at least one imported small truck now in the US. Sells for about 10,000 but don't think you would want to use for a 90 mile per day routine. Have a client who sells them. Think they are made in China. To me they look like for local runs.

Just wondering, what kind of MPG do you get on your 90 mile round trip? I have a 2004 Tundra which is not a lot larger than the new Tacomma if any and for my routine driving get 17 something tank in tank out. Have you a cover over the bed to cut wind drag?

Auerbach, I have looked at Agri Fab web site and do not find what seems to be what you have. Do you mind looking and post a link? I see vac for use with a mower but not all one unit unless just over looking it.

Murf, Snapper had or has a ZTR mower with a joy stick for it's steering. No idea if it might give you some ideas with your conversion.

To begin with who did the work on it? If a Kubota dealership they may know the tractor (ask the service people) and be able to provide good info.

But the number of hours, what kind of condition it is in all come into play. It is hard to tractor and fel in good condition for that price.

As an EX Dodge Ram driver who spent more money on the brakes of that pickup that all Toyotas and Nissians (2 of each) combined you don't want to get into that contest. Oh, had the Dodge for about half the mileage of any of the others. Something about the smallest Toyota car made that pulled out in front of my big bad 4 wheel drive Dodge Ram which was totalled and the little old lady drove on. Yep true. So I went all Toyota then.

How reasonable is it to rent a machine to dig or pull the stumps? If you do not have a lot of stumps or can batch them and rent a backhoe or excavator or hire them removed you will make this size tractor a much better choice. Then the plowing will probably be your next HP hog but depending as Harvey has said on the amount of time you have it is possible.

I agree with Harvey on double how long you think it will take. LOL still have to do that. It might be wise for you to rent a tractor of the size you plan to buy and use it for a week or so and then decide. Very seldom do you hear, my machine is just too large, but it can happen.

I have a 27 hp CUT Kubota with HST. The fuel tank is about 7 gallons. The other day I ran about 6 gallons of fuel through it in about 6 hours. It was pulling a landscape rake running near full throttle working hard moving dirt. Then on the following Monday (Labor Day) did the same job but at about 2,000 rpms and dirt was easier to move and the fuel used was about 4 gallons. At same time had a 68 hp Kubota with Manual Trans. On each of those days it was used to pull about 6 to 8,000 trailer loads of dirt with it running about 1500 rpms when moving and then ideling for a while to be loaded. It probably used about 6 gallons each day while over twice the hp. But oh the load difference. On the tractor I have run it at least 20 hours on the 18 gallon of fuel and then with real heavy work had to refill to finish a 10 hour day. Many people miss the load on a engine when telling how great they are at fuel.

But do be sure filters are good.

Hey PJ, do you have a front wheel drive machine there, Where the rear wheels are only along for the ride? :) If you will ask a farmer who has a two wheel drive tractor how long his front wheels last compared to the rear wheels as to wear you will find they last every bit as long. So steering, caster and chamber can not be causing the wear by themselves that is seen on a 4 wheel drive unit. Even on a two wheel rear drive vechicle the front and rear wear about same speed. Now when you put the drive job on them the front wear much faster than the rear.

Don't think I have ever seen the machine you have but two questions: is there nothing that can be done to protect the bearing housing? Such as stump jumper or shear bolt or something else?

Second, have you taken the bearing housing itself and looked for a name in the casting or taken it to any tractor dealership to see it it matches another brand. This may require a few visits to different dealerships. But if you could find a name on the housing you then may could narrow it down by phone.

Has both of this problems been there the total time you have owned it?

If you recently bought it is asking the previous owner an option?

It seems odd the battery is being killed as soon as you hit the key to crank if yet you can jump it and it will start. So are you sure the battery you replaced it with is good, of sufficient strength and charged? I am guessing one of those is the start problem. Well, there is one other option. Do you connect the jumper cables to your batter or elsewhere on the tractor, even just the ground cable. If you are bypassing any cable while jumping the battery check that cable very carefully for poor connection. It is not impossible the cables are not connected well to the battery but you jumper cables are connecting well to the cables themself.

As to having to stall the tractor to cut it off...no idea if you tractor has an electic fuel shut off or just a mechanical one. Some especially few year old tractors just have a manual cut off. Look for a pull knob or tee handle. Some tractors had two, one for normal cut off and an emergency one. Some tractors today still have a mechanical in case the electrical fails to work and some don't. My guess if you have the pull type cut off there is some logo on the knob or right near it that might confirm that. Hope it is in English.

Poods77, if you have the time get out and meet the neighbors. Many can give you great advice if only one narrow area. Some may think you are a threat to their income so listen with caution also. Find where the farmers meet and visit with them. That could be local corner store, diner, feed store you get the idea. Be ready to laugh at yourself or to admit I don't know and hope you can help me. Most people are very willing to help if asked politely...hey like here!

You may do well to find a neighbor who will farm the acreage for say one year and you watch him and maybe you can swap his use of that land to work your garden for you. That will only work if he has the size equipment to work a garden. Real crop tractors are too big for most gardens. Or you may find someone who is willing to swap your help for use of machines you need. Often this comes with time though.
