We have a two wheel drive Gator that is about 5 years old. We live on flat land and would say buy 4 wheel drive. Throw a glass of water on the dirt and it will bog. Well maybe not that easy but about. We had the larger off road tires install rather than the truf tires that came on it at that time. Glad we did. No idea if they have improved the ground clearance but on our model the rear end is very low. My wife wanted Green when we bought it but for my nickel rather had some others in their suspension and clearance. We do use it a good bit but nothing real heavy. Our model has a fixed rear axle and it can be trickey driving over say ruts.

At that time we priced two dealerships and the one on 378 in Lexington was less than (name escapes me right now but in Myrtle Beach) but only by about $100. Think the JD Garden Dealership here also (M&M in Conway) has them but did not when we bought.

My wife (who wanted the Green) used it this afternoon for spraying and said you know it is hard to steer. It is rather hard when not moving but not any real issue. I did ask if she wanted us to look at new one to which NO, this one is paid for. Now is there a clunker program for these?

Gatoraider is very good on Gators do listen to his suggestions.

But we have one and it does some of what you are describing. Things that causes it with ours is normally being allowed to sit for a while (was over winter but we solved that by using it during the winter). Learned to use a gas stablizer and even gas adative to get it running back normal. I think gel may have formed in the carb while sitting but not sure. Our's would idle ok but when a load on it would spurt, jump and buck like a horse.

"it's originating from the low point" or is it just dripping from the low point? You really need to get a good light source and of course with tractor off and blocked so it can not roll look under it to find the source. Hope you find it just a loose filter, drain plug or such.

No idea how the NH set up is but on my small Kubota went to use it one day and would not start. Humm Played with it and all levels with key being held and wow, with pushing pot level all the way one certain direction within the neutral area it fired right up. Went to adjust the safety swith and thought, nope anti theft device.

TC55DA PTO does not disengage and therefore tractor will not start

Been long time but a twist off of Murf's (which you can control better) is to turn the engine over and let the compression break it loose. As I said been a long time but am sure those head bolts need to be say finger tight to begin with. May could do it turning it over by hand or impact wrench which to me would be safer. But, get a friend to look at it for you to be 100% sure all bolts are out, a set of female eyes normally see such better than male eyes do.

The camo job looks good. They must have removed those wheel to prevent damage when turning on turf.

Well a slight update...best I can figure we have only about 2,000 or so more yards to go. Dump trailer that holds about 2 1/2 yards without tailgate is little slow but making a round trip in 5 to 6 minutes. Just getting in full days of work is issue. If no more dirt is moved area is already much improved.

EW, still like the idea of the large FEL. SIL check recently and it seems such equipment is still demanding top dollar in the rental market.

I have never used a backhoe on a tractor. Have used a TLB and excavator. One thing I know from even running one today...you will put them in a bind and will be glad for all the support and strength they have when that happens. You may put them under heavy load not thinking or thinking or due to accident but it will happen or has for me.

Mine are still there. One flips up and is not much of an issue but on my CUT it does not and is a pain. But not as much as EW experienced.

On your pasture, are you planning on bottom plowing all of it with this rig? If so it will be slow work. You probably are talking say a 14 inch wide plow which means for each round trip you have only plowed 28 inches. It will take about 90 rounds to cover an acre in width.

Depending on what your pasture needs bottom plowing it may not be the best option for it and if many acres a very slow project also.

If it just needs the ground being loosen a subsoiler should be a better option. But still would be a slow job but possibly faster than the bottom plow. That will depend on how deep you are with each.

I am not doubting you but I sure can get my front tires to cut the grass at less than 11 mph with a real tight turn. They really don't scuff or not to me, rather they dig in with the outside side of the tire and cut the grass and tear it up. Happens with industrial and ag tires. No idea if truf tires would. I also fully understand real wide tires in tight turn could damage the grass. But then are not turf tires the widest tires which should make it more so?

Now, get on ZTR mower and you can do all kinds of damage with those rear tires.

As I typed the line about ZTR mower thought about using brakes on tractor which is about the same effect as turning with ZTR depending on how you work the steering or driving of the wheels. Yep using brakes to help get tight turns sure would cause rear tire to do possibly major damage. Would think any one would do that on their lawn or such.
