Have you grabbed hold of the pto shaft and tried to see if it has any loose motion in it (of course with tractor off EW). No idea on this but asking..can a shop who balances drive shafts test a pto shaft for balance? There is probably such a shop in your area, ask big truck repair shop who makes or repairs drive shafts for them.

Hardwood I thought of you each time (twice now) mowed our yards with my Gator blades and how they mulched up my grass and it looked so great. Even when I was chipping the hickory nuts really thought of you.

Now, fyi, they did not mulch up my grass into really little clips especially my first cutting of the seasons but then hey it was not grass but weeds some about 10 inches tall. I know when I pull them when dull will be putting normal blades back on, why, have some many sets of them.

If it only makes the noise with this shaft install seems it would be the problem. It would have to be loose or have something loose in or on it.

BJ, we have a Gator probably 2 or 3 years newer than yours. It is one engine that does not like gas to sit in over the winter. If so it better have gas stablizer in it, mixed properly or the next time used a real problem.

Sorry I can not help you with your direct question but why not open up to other brands such as John Deere or Kubota or even further. I think you will find either JD or Kubota to be as of good quality as the NH. There are some guys here who live in NY guess they either have no suggestions or have missed your question.

Still shop with dealerships. I found prices for used varied a good bit. A drive of 80 miles was worth about 25%.

Sorry for the problem EW. Does remind me when you buy the price seems real high, when you are selling the price is too low. Just think you are wealthy per DC these days and they may send you a ribbon or something for your contribution to stimulate the economy. Now, don�t you feel much better? :)

Murf, most of what I have to say over a cell phone very little would ever interest the government as they per the new report (was posted here) they already consider me a terrorist. So they know I have general dislike for them. No plans on blowing up anything (other than maybe two stumps) or shooting anything other than a few rounds tomorrow getting ready for conceal weapons class next week.

The smoke is blowing for the most part to sea or towards North Carolina which is away from me. They just reported 30 square miles burnt or 20,000 acres and about 200 housed lost or damage and the total is up to just over 8 million in damages...a figure that is way way low. Fire is suppose to be now I think three sperate fires with the one nearest to houses and North Myrtle Beach to be under control. Amazing with such loss as of last reports no major injuries or deaths.

My Sears bandsaw about like yours has had an easy life but sure not a high quality machine. Some of the plastic screws with snap in caps popped off just opening the cover for the wheels.
By chance does your bottom wheel have a set screw in the belt pully that could be lose allowing it to walk as running? Also could you remove and reinstall the top wheel the opposite direction? That may give it a little more life. But Sears was good about replacement parts. No idea in last few years. Then you may find a good used one for about same price as wheels and/or bearings.

Hardwood, my in laws had an accidednt. The dealership did the repair and replaced the rear axle as it took the lick they said. Not sure now if right after or right before that dealership closed the rear axle went to whinning real loud. Happened to have new closer dealership who said sorry, orginial axle, Chrysler back them up and did repair it as they had paper work proving it had been done. And people think only the policitians lie.

A couple of weeks back went looking for battery for my pickup. Stopped at Advance Auto and almost fell over when I saw the price of their batteries. There were at least 25% higher than they were. EW they had three different different Optimas batteries with a blue color also. Went to my tractor dealership who is also a parts store and bought Interstate for about $25 less than Advance was for same size battery.

I replaced the batteries in my Kubotas with the same size lead acid as AB suggested and pleased with mine. That was last year.

Most loose sight the reason the Southern States succeeded from the Union was over states rights. Many think it was only slavery. President Lincoln injected that after the war began as a reason for the North to fight. There are those who say had my state not fired on the Union Fort in Charleston Harbor there would NOT have been war. I do understand Hawaii had language in some federal law inserted and passed by the US Senate and House and signed by the president (not sure if Bush or Clinton) that affirmed they had the authority to separate as a separate nation or such as they were such when they became part of the USA. If that holds for them so was Texas. How does the Federal Government go about telling other nations how they must allow parts or people of their nation to split off to form their own separate nation but not allow a sovereign state the same?

Please do not take this as any way support for slavery and I am glad we were one large strong nation for the benefit of the world with WWI and WWII. It would have been possible were we two nations to found ourselves on opposite sides of the war when it came down to Germany and England.

I agree with the need for both types of mowers. I use a 72 inch RFM and for my yard with a swell in it would not want anything larger. You do want one wider than your tractor wheels are. I have side discharge but wish it were rear discharge. Did not realize they had those until after I bought.

Is it possible you favor one side over the other in loading? From what I read it does not seem that way but if you are working from one side of the piles toward the other you may be placing more weight or the piles of manure may be packed more in one area.
