Welcome to TP. No doubt you will get timely info the way I did when I asked my first question here a few years back. Time flys!

It would seem low 30's to 40's hp would suit your needs with proper attachments. For the mowing you need to know if you are expecting lawn quality cut or rougher cut to decide on type of mower. I have a 27 hp Kubota and use a 60 inch rear finishing mower (RFM) and pleased with it. Depending on slope and how thick your grass is might need more hp for that width deck.

Is that who bought Allis Chambers tractors? Is there an old Allis Chamber dealership near you? If so talk with them. Some dealerships are good on used parts. Also depending on your state some State's Dept of Agriculture have a web site or paper for items wanted and for sale in their state.

I try to keep mine oiled as Art has pointed out. Especially right after using to spread any kind of fertlizer.

Or use a blade and have ends on it when working the gravel so it does not spill around the ends. It is odd how many will tell you can not work such with a blade yet never have seen the county or state people with box blade working their roads. Hey, what do they know?

And/Or assume they have bought what ever since the winter of 2005 when asking for help.

I can understand what you are saying and it is not just one area or one state or one part of this country and probably not the whole world either.

One thing you hit when you move into any community that has few people moving into or out of is relationships and the way any outsider is treated. This can even be true in the local community by even a change in Church or where you work. It is just human or inhuman which ever it really is. Another thing that makes rural life tough or can is the low number of people you live around. The attitude of one or two (or a few anyway)either good or bad has such a major influence as the total population is small compared to a more heavy population center.

I live about 7 miles from town, not in an isolated area by any means. There is a small subdivision at me of about 20 houses but on my side of the road no house for 1/4 mile one direction and none the other direction for about 1/2 mile. Have three adjoining farm land owners. One is father of friends we grew up with. The other two I know only because they are adjoining land owners. One treats us with respect and I watch his place for him. Have called him when I have had concerns for his place or the way his employees speed by us. Even called the law when I could not reach him regarding trespassors. The other is a liar, only cares about himself and only call I will make regarding his land is when someone there is breaking law that affects me. Which I have had to call on him and his friends once or twice. So out of my three adjoining land owners two get high praises and one gets terrible score so 1/3 or 33% are problems. Now if the problem person sells his land for subdivision then that one adjoining land owner becomes maybe 25 but more like 100. Ratios really change.

So guess you buy a place and only live next door to siblings and cousins...wait..not mine..rather have any of you. :)

At same time, it is very possible the people bothering your property are not local. Or they may be some one who has visited you.

I suspect earthwrks hit your situation much more honest than you want to admit. Sadly you are not alone even at 8 in losing a parent. At 12 you are older than many who went to work to provide for a family who lost their father and their family's income. Anyone does well to listen to others who have experience. earthwrks has lost a brother, have you any idea how hard that is? Losing a parent or sibling is very hard. I have lost parents and sibling. I also realize your attitude shows the need you have for what you are saying you don't, an adult you can trust to share with. Man there is nothing wrong to remember your Dad and shed tears over his passing. But playing a victim will only cause you hurt.

Frank, am right sure I rather get kicked by the goat than cow or have them step on my foot either.

Murf, yep on they are told to be happy so they are. At same time they don't know how good or back other cows have it. Maybe we need to develop a happy cow milk test meter?

I don't know the brake set up on your tractor but if it is acting if hand brake is set, how are you so sure it is released? Is it possible brakes (drum or shoe) have stuck locked? Could linkage be loose? Could what ever pulls them back be broken or needing adjustment?

Probably not it, but if you have a locking rear differential it may be locked and on my tractors it seems to act sort of like the brake is locked. This also shows up quickly in turning so doubt it.

I could make this statement a million times here but I did not realize how much I used and keep learing in my manuals but it seems every time I find such a post as this I pull a manual on one of my units and learned something else or am reminding of something. Get your self a manual if possible.
When I purchased a used Volvo excavator I made sure manuals were included. Boy they are worth a ton. Sure glad I did not have to buy them seperate.

Murf, probably did not tell people the heat from the unit could melt ice on frozen over lakes.

If decent people don't serve on juries and stop such it will keep getting worse.

Well Murf you may be read your bills wrong or just tying to offer a solution.

But in looking at your pictures it seems you use snow for refrigator and probably freezes also. Now Air Conditioning, probably nothing like it is here. Office air is running today, global warming I guess. But your country is sending us freezing temps with frost next week so guess we have GW under control.

Ole EW, afraid his eye sight and senior moments are showing on him more and more. Guess years or running in circles or almost cirles shows up.

Have no doubt your hay is dry. Only tying to help point out the difference between hay and straw. It has been told to me this shows way past the baling. But a very simple question, can you not use hay just at a lower amount than straw? In our area we don't use straw on fresh seeding lawns or if so very very very seldom. Use a good bit of hay or straw in bays to control water in new ditches to prevent erosion.

Murf, think he quoted Visa's commerical a while back, but his spelling is really getting priceless. It is my understanding Husky is the same regardless who sells it. So is price. So why buy from someone who will not service it? Only connection I have to Husky is a hedge trimmer I own.

Art, I find it fun to watch the seats on tractors. When I see a cheap replacement seat on one, ok they skimped there so where else did they? Realize that is not 100% accurate but if a person does not care about comfort...either they have hired help on that machine they also don't care about or else that was only seat they could find at the time (only type one local shop stocks). It does amaze me a person will put a machine for thousands on dollars for sale and the seat is such no one is able to sit on it and test it comfortable.

I looked at both of these on each company's web site. It is amazing how much of their OWN info they do not have when you go to compare. The best advice I can tell you, in my part of the world the 100 to 150 tractors are very common farm size. We have a large NH dealership (has a large commerical division) and smaller JD. But in the field you see the large farmers using JD over NH. It is easy to find a farmer with many JD but seldom with a lot of NH or totally NH equipment here. The complaint I hear on JD is they do not stock parts. Now, you do see a lot of the Case tractors here in the size range and the nearest dealership is 45 miles away. It seems they service the farmer better here than the NH dealership does.

Jeff, have not heard anything about this in our local news which I normally catch each day.

Is there anything which we do not import from China? Built a toy box for a grandchild and had problem with some warpage, our cabinet grade plywood is not made in China?
