AlbertaDan and EW thanks to both of you. I am telling this to offer some insights of urgency:
Picked up free dump truck loaner Saturday. Only took an hour and half. Had to talk about horses barn was built for, the good neighbor, what was going on in area. Oh, took about 2 minutes to train on dumping set up.
Drove it the four miles or so and dumped the debri in it.
Proceeded to load area. Engine died. Had to pull to start. FYI, excavator does not pull fast, but fast enough to crank a hot engine. :) Knew battery was weak but too weak to jump. Loaded and then I reaized why I like my HST trans as it choked off. Back to battery too weak to jump (without jumping vechile hooked up for say 20 minutes to boost it some) before starting. Was now running rough enough could not let it idle to remove jumper cables and move my pick up out of the way. So left loaded truck sit. Oh, did I tell it only took 3 trips about 3/4 miles with air tanks to fill the now flat tires since load was on them? Yes I know that should have been checked first but was using the EW theory there. (running in circles). So, about 3 hours have about 3 yards loaded. Nothing dumped. Told my son in law, well with tell you, this will take longer than I thought. But did we have fun, yes sir. Did we bog down, nope. Did we get hurt, nope. Did we tear up anything, not that we know of.

The real kicked, my son in law asked me about the battery if any special kind was required for the truck. Puzzled me as I said just one to fit. Well since it is a diesel did not know. To which I replied, diesel, it is just a rough running gas.

I hope this lifts some of your hearts. It was fun and life as it should be. No snow, no rain, not real cold (60 F), no snakes or insects. Just relaxing work by a pond.

Do I think we will end up hiring at least some of this dirt moving done or renting a big FEL, yep. But think of the stories we will have to tell when we do strike back up a fire to sit around.

Per Woods' website it looks like the Ground Breaker Hoe is built for skide steer machines. Did not see any quick reference to using on tractor so would guess any mounts or adapter would be yours to have made. Would also suspect the tractors hyd are not sufficient for a skid steer attachments. But you might could use a 3 pth pto pump if there is room for it. Now will your Massey handle it, my GUESS is no.

That is right funny (not having to fix it). Don't tell us you had the tractor over there doing a free favor for your neighbor. Was this the only damage they did?

No way can answer for your area but in our state (South Carolina) the schools collect a lot from property taxes. Not idea what each county if doing on this but some have gone with sales tax to at least partly fund the schools and run lower ratios than other counties do. Very well remember when our school percentage was about half what is currently is. Then our school board (which sets it owns budget with no input, hearings or oversight) decided we needed if not all new schools a lot of them. So we built them and closed some which were in good condition to allow them to sit to be sold for next to nothing. One building was allowed to sit long enough the roof fell in before they sold it. Sure it sold cheap but guess what, new roof and the walls and all other structure (brick and block walls) were sufficient to become a nice private owned apartment building. Any questions asked on that, nope?

I am not sure on the model you have but think you will find the high low range level must be in neutral for safety switch there. Possibly/probably one on the PTO shaft and you may need to have the clutch depressed. Believe that is all the safety switches you will find on that tractor. My brother has a model below it and he ran into a problem with the safety switch for the trans. If memory is correct we hade to find the problem with volt meter. Think it screwed in on top of the trans near the shift levers.

Have never used turf tires on any tractor and have had three from a B2710 in it's light weight up to about 8,000 lbs on lawn with finishing mower. The two heaviest both had ag tires. None left the marks warned about here. Now if my lawn was wet they did not go on it. But if muddy my lawn mower with turf tires could not climb the grade in my MIL yard but my CUT tractor with R4 did. Sure you can find some CUT here with turf tires and some on golf course have even been shaved. But was told years ago most damage with ag tires is due to the front tires and turning so sharp they dig in, proved true for me.

Now haveing said all that..reading these post noticed something had not picked up on before and that is where the turf tire recommendations are coming from, COLD country. No doubt there is wide variance in soils and moisture content but your soil also freezes which very seldom happens here. I do know frozen soil is very mushy when it begins to melt but for us that is normally at most about 3 days. Also snow here is very seldom (hey 2 times this year, all since Jan 1). FYI Dixie Chopper an ZTR built in Indiana or that area has at least an option here of drive tires more like ag tires than turf tires. Local dealership I think totally went to those over the turf tires.

No sure now who said the air could be low in the R4 and you not realize it due to how stiff, had a tire come off rim due to how low air was and with no air it still looked aired up.

I am only echoing what others has said..will have to be very small stumps if you are to pull them.

Find out about dealerships where you will be moving to and go from there. I prefer the Kubotas but not without any dealership.

Paul, are you running this tractor in Loris or Locust Grove?
I live about 17 miles from Loris near where 22 and 501 intesect. If you have it in Loris where did you buy from? The Farmall, was it used on tobacco? Use to have a neighbor who had one so old it ran on kerosen with manual lift.

Know very little on certain JD models but a good look at fliters and fluids can tell a good bit. If all filters are new or real old either it would gain my attention. Is there a service histroy? How about the manual for the tractor? They can be so helpful especially if that type of tractor is new to you. No idea on the price but the two who have already posted are JD people so I trust them on it, but only about 22 hours per year is very low. Have you asked on that? If the owner was say in military and out of the country for a few years ok. If not does that mean the hour meter was not working or tractor could not handle what it was expected to do or did someone buy who had no idea of what they would use tractor for and found out they had little real use or just never bought any attachments?

On tractors, a 2000 model does not mean the same as in cars. It does not tell you when it was put in service. With the hours on it, would try to find out.
