Dave, I hope some with much more experience than me chimes in on this and it not repost asking the fuel use question.

Joel, if I understand you, the fuel filter will remove any contamination. The issues as I understand are first is there any problem with the fuel and then if there is just how often the fuel filter (which will remove them) has to be replaced. Correct?

So it may be one or two pump filters might solve the problem. Or you may need one every few gallons, correct?

Is there nothing than can be added after contamination to remove the fungus/bacteria where the fuel is useable? Very much understand this is why most here recommend adding fuel conditioner when you fill tanks.

Dave, if it turns out there is no reasonable way to filter the fuel, provided it is contaminated, then you may wish to consider other possible uses: there are heaters that will use it and not damage, it is used with certain chemicals for brush control (spray nozzles there also but different cost issue). Believe you are where you need to check the fuel and see the real condition it is in. kt

Auerbach, mind me asking why you prefer the side discharge? Never have used a rear discharge but often wish mine was due to chute sticking out. kt

Hey guys, the show that was on this Sunday night, did you see it? Good lesson in protecting the old head. Limb feel over a hundred feet and went through what was suppose to be bullet proof plexiglass or such. It did it's job and stopped the limb, protected the operator. If not, well he probably would not have gone home. kt

Murf, if he had a 3 pth rear finishing mower, would he not only have to mount to the lift pins and not where the 3rd arm hitches. The mower will be riding on it's own wheels either way, right?

KB, it is my guess backing up would be a pain the way those wheels pivot (on the rear finishing mowers I have used or paid any attention to) if you only used a single pin pull set up. I believe when you went to back up it would run sideways on you if it has pivoting wheels. If your mower has wheels and bearings like mine running on a road eats them up. kt

Dealerships are made up of people. As each person varies so does each dealership. What will upset one dealership will not even register with another. Don't forget your attitude and the way you treated the local dealership also comes into this equation. kt

There are those here who will warn you about using a backhoe attachment that is only mounted to the 3 point hitch of the tractor. Think you will find the vast majority will tell you to only use with a mounting system designed for your tractor. Depending on how much you will be needing and how big a system you may find you wish to have two machines.

If you can share detailed information on what you expect to be using the machine for, not just digging holes or moving dirt and is time an issue and so forth.

Very general but you can dig about anything and move about any thing with any size machine unless it is a fixed load or it will not reach far enough. So if you will be digging and moving rocks you need a machine that can lift the biggest rock. (Or in my case stumps.)

Unless you really will be in the business you might be surprised how much work you can get done and find you don't have a long term need for a tractor loader bachoe (TLB) and are well served to buy used, do the work and sell it. There are real experts here on the TLBs and guess they have missed your question or could be just waiting on more details from you. kt

I believe the 30000 nunmber is a typo.

If you need 60 lb N, 30 lb phosphate, and 120 lb potash. If you used 10-28-28 you would need:

600 lbs per acre to get the nitrogen.

Only about 107 lbs per acre to get the phosphate.

Only about 429 lbs per acre to get the potash.

If the 60 units of nitrogen are all you need and you will apply a late application you need to reduce it here. A lot depends on the fertlizer you are able to buy. If bulk many places mix it and can do a custom mixed ratio. If that is possible they can meet you needs better balance than the 10-28-28. If bagged is what you are buying your options will be limited.

Kangroo, if you are only planting 2 - 3 acres this year, that is all you should fertlize. If that is all you need fertlizer on, if you have a spreader to use with your tractor do it yourself. They will have to charge you extra for this little load as it will be less than a ton. You probably could buy a spreader for $400 to $500.

If you will be putting out 3 acres with a tractor and spreader you will cover it in like 30 minutes. If you are needing no more fertlizer than for 3 acres price it like at Wal Mart and large home supply stores. If there is a tax benefit to buying farm supplies there take that into consideration but I have found for less than a ton they can often beat the ag dealer. They often will use fertlizer to bring in the flower buyer so keep price low. Also can be good place for bagged nitrogen for same reason. Does not hold true every year.

On the nitrogen, bagged here you find two ratios, price all raios and then figure the unit price. I find the highest ratio has been my best price almost always. Same with fertlizer. Shipping of filler cost the same. kt

Chief, no doubt some things could have been handled better in the war. It is also true too many Americans had died. (Is there a number that is not too many?) If you have road traffic and it is legal, do put up a sign. A simple sign seems to work good for such. There are also the classified local papers. kt

Don't you have to reduce the tension on the rollers to do so? Know very little here other than reading manual on mine a little smaller than yours and it reads that you do. It is my "impression" some of these adjustments are straight forward and easy to understand and some are little complicated. Mine uses grease to keep the track at proper tension and I think you have to remove the grease fitting to allow the grease a way out to reduce the tension. Don't remember it telling how to apply the pressure to push the grease out.

I have heard of operators who could loose a track and pull it back on with no tools. That would seem to be a very loose track to me.

Understand the part about not in an easy spot, believe they are designed that way. :) kt

The question on size of machine will greatly depend on the size of those stumps and rocks. As has been said here before so does the variety of tree and dirt. So does the time you have. See if possible to rent or demo the model you are considering for real job or get names of those who have bought one and talk with them.

Don't let low interest rates be the only reaons you buy a certain machine. Don't be afraid of the used market. Also, financed machines even at 0% mean insurance to cover the lender...check that cost also. Have fun and be safe. kt

I have two Kubota's. One came with tubes and the other without. Had Case that came without tubes. For my nickel I find tubeless are easier or less costly with repair. Nail in tubeless it never comes off the tractor, no tire truck called, very little down time with me able to plug the tire. Tube tire totally different experience work and cost wise. Did have a rear tubeless on Kubota come loose from rim all of sudden but when I checked the air in the other rear tire, wondered why it had not also. My poor maintance does not mean a bad product or cheap design. Now, tubes does take rim rust worry away with filled tires. kt

Joel, if you have a place that rents similar equipment get their rate and realize you will be suppling operator and fuel. No disagreement with any caution given and especially with the quality of those giving them. Many people make money doing custon tractor work in my world. The more rural the area would think it harder to do so. Then what do I know, I hire custom equipment work every time a combine runs on my place. Keep a business head about it or realize it is a favor. kt

Have you check to be sure there is power to the switch and then to the clutch? Have you check for a blown fuse? Before could you hear the clutch when it was engaged click and if so can you hear it now? If so there is power getting to it. kt
