Paul, just noticed your location. I live about 3 miles from the hwy 501 and hwy 22 interchange in SC. If you are looking for your blades here, there is a JD dealership on old hwy 9 west of Loris, Rabon's in Aynor, Tractor Supply on 501 just west of Conway. Also there is Agri Supply in Florence on the side hwy 76 just past the airport there. kt

DR, believe ole EW covered the draw bar. Some tractors do have an adjust that does allow you to angle the draw bar that normally is fixed by relocating a side pin. I was talking about the draw bar used with the 3 point hitch.

If you are doing this with your fel install you should have plenty of weight to keep front wheel straight and with the hitch you have in your pricture you should have no problem with draw bar rolling with a ball bolted through one of the holes.

For me when using an offset or extended implement,it takes a little bit more to keep the tractor the proper distance from such as trees. kt

I do not know this set up but look for a sheared key or such. If you can have someone just wiggle the stearing wheel while you follow the linkage I would think you would find where it stops working very quickly. kt

It is very possible the pto shaft was not pushed on sufficient at the dealership for it to be locked in place. A little dirt or such can also interfere with the pto shaft locking sometimes. If you can pull it off without releasing a locking device, do not run it. It can be dangerous. Though if it is coming off, sure rather have it come off tractor end than implement end.

While you have it off the tractor is a good time to work it looking at how it locks so you honestly can do it with your eyes closed for they are hard to see with the safety shields. kt

Frank, if I can combine something I was told last night in a class with Murf and Bill has said...train them to weld, buy them stick welder, help them find some work like Bill did and encourage them to do simple jobs for pay and buy the bigger, wire welder for themselves. You will be taught them much more than just welding. kt

If they are taking the tractor into their shop, see if it is time for any service work that you would want them to do. Will cost less if on same trip.

I was licensed to and did sell Mutual Funds for a few years. Mostly I had that license to sell variable life more so but same license for Mutual Funds. Not licensed for the invidual stocks.<br>

Buying invidual stocks is considered more risky than mutual funds but you probably know that. If you are buying mutual funds watch the annual fees and not just the sales fees. Morning Star has probably the longest track record or any body that rates Mutual Funds. They have a free web site for the investor. I think a search under their name will bring it up for you. If not and you want it I will be glad to post it next week but just shut down my computer with that data on it. They may rate invidual stock, do not remember. I am not that risky. Would only buy a single stock if I were where I could watch it very often or worked there. Buying a few shares of a company you work for if they have public traded stock is a great way to really know what the company is doing. The law says they must be honest to investors (which they don't still always do) but not to employees.<br>

It is hard (my opinion) for a person to do well in individual stock as the price of it changes so quickly if you do not have someone watching it or you yourself are. Be careful of the big brokerage houses, yes they do have their agenda and they do have their products their reps are to push or pitch. kt<br>

Saeldrid, Art is great and a hyd mechanic I am not. The noise you heard may not have anything to do with the hyd problem and could be affecting your thoughts on trouble shooting. Your brush cutter is pto driven correct? If I understood you, your pump seems to have proper volumne, yet nothing works. Is it possible some kind of trash went through the pump and is blocking the valves? Is it cold enough where your tractor is that ice is a possible problem? Sure wish I had better idea for you. kt

Buzz, no idea on your tractor but I was using a Massey few years ago that had enough slack you could pick up the shifter lever clear of the slots inside the trans, getting it where it did not engage or disengage the grears. Very simple to fix, just a pain. BTW, your transmission uses Hydro oil? kt

My father in law had a 61, Ford Workmaster 601. Per the local Ford dealership and another Ford dealership there was a problem with his model tractor. There was so many of the "hiccups" per minute they said was acceptable and if less than that DO NOT attempt any repair. The number I am not sure of but it was like 20 or more per minute. A number that surprised me. Now, the hiccup it had was not large or pronounced but a major issue with such as cultivators. A big enough issue that here (then Ford Country) they developed a slide set up to bolt onto cultivators to keep them steady when plowing. Have no idea if that problem was common to the first Model 3000 Fords. I would try to find an OLD Ford mechanic if possible.

Could be all the advice given already is correct and the problem was fixed with the 3000 model. kt

Missed seeing your post Art and Frank's last one. Subsoiling here seems to be a lost tool for most. Quick disc job and gone. I talked with a couple of very experienced farmers a few years ago and both told of advantages to subsoiling. Had read where in parts of the country they subsoiled in the fall of the year to retain what rain they go and did so this year. Really glad for we have had some very good rains and very little has run off and for the last few days have water sitting on part of it. The subsoiling did a second job, located stumps to be removed.

Ken, I have no problem cutting metal with mine, just get cutting blades and not grinding blades. Cutting blades are made just for that, thin and buy a lot. They will cut metal that will take the teeth off of a saw blade. They do produce a lot of sparks so can make a mess, danger if gasoline and wear eye protection. kt<br>

Twincreeks, it is amazing to me that mice would have gotten through the muffler. I thought there was sufficient baffles in there to prevent that. Now, have I ever looked at an open diesel muffler, NO.
As carefull as it seems you were, no doubt you also checked the air filter and the intake system for mice trash. Doubt that could be enough there to allow the engine to run and over heat so quickly. But, if you have not, I would. kt

Yep. Built snowmen. Driven on snow covered roads. Missed school due to snow. Our area had show on History Channel about the major snow storm of Dec, 1999 (about 3 months after Hurrican Hugo) not sure right off but like 20 inches. Why we had about 3 inches 3 or 4 winters ago.

Most driving on snow covered roads I will admit were visiting family in Ohio. Fun. Most fun was it was only for a few days and I came home. kt
