KW, if this is an outside wall and you use an insert, if it is not insulated then find out if it can be. I found fiberglass worked well if away from the flue opening and I could tell it helped with more heat output. There may be a better option than fiberglass now. Of course no paper backing. kt

I am guessing you have this taken care of by now but if not, have you checked to see if the linkage has come loose? Other thought, is it possible a load has been shoved against the PTO shaft possibly jamming the internally parts? kt

DG, I am not in snow country so no attempt to address that by me.

No doubt tractor over mower. I would suggest Cat 1 over Cat 0 due to amount of equipment for Cat 1. As to each piece of equipment you have to look at what works for you, such as a Front End Loader (FEL), little value if it would not fit in the barn for removing manure. At same time you may prefer a manure spreader or trailer pulling it with the tractor. As to what you can afford, don't skip on horse power. A 25 or larger HP will do a lot and will find a good bit of used equipment for that size. As to Agi boom affecting the prices, these are not Agi size or used equipment. If you are looking at used which can provde a good deal or a nightmare, you might be able to test it on your place depending on how near to you it is.

I think you will find the need to keep mowing your pasture and thus will need hp for that and possibly a rough cut mower depending on the type of grass and such.

An issue that might affect your pocket book on this, will this "Hobby Farm that boards horses" be a business? If so talk with you accountant (you need one now if not before). It may be the equipment would be a business expense, helping you afford it better. It could also affect the way your purchase it. Now, get out there and enjoy it!. kt

If you have not gotten this solved by now you probably are bonkers.

Not a JD person but my Kubota will do that at times and if I will put it int what ever gear it will shift into and let out the clutch just a little it normally solves it. Guess just the way the gears are lining up. Have had a stick in linkage once that was preventing the proper shifting and almost did not see it due to sheet metal. kt

I think a lot comes into how much you will be using a chain saw, how far to a shop that does a GOOD job in sharping the chain and such. If I had a shop near me that did a GOOD job and I did not use my saw every day, I would have them sharpner the chains. Just have a few chains. Not all chain saw dealers do a GOOD job in sharping chains. That is why last winter I bought my own sharpner. No report by me, have not used any chain yet sharpen on it. <br>

Candoarms, revisted this due to Randy's posting but read yours on the fine senators and their thoughts. Locally an 80 year old man committed suicide and could be a poster person for taking guns from those with Alzheimer's or certain medication due to how it can affect the mind.

The other side that happened here recently one man was released in the morning for a gun violation and that afternoon was in a shoot out with person he was trying to break in his house and killed. Both happened the same week about 60 miles apart.

WHat it means to me is we need to realize when and how guns need to be secured to prevent such. Have no doubt you know, how many people are killed each year by bad people with guns compared to Drunks with cars? kt

The government may not require inspection if in private use but any insurance company that insures such a building would have hard time with such if not UL approved and installed by license contractor. That I have very little doubt of. Then if that was not done and by chance some one got hurt due to it they probably would not be liable even if they were not aware such was there as more than likely they have a line in the contract such must meet such standards. kt<br>

During lunch stopped by my house and was going to look at hoist in the New Northern Tool Catalog due to this thread, did not find any electric hoist in there. Did I miss them or is there a legal issue pulling them or did they just not sell for Northern?

Well once I figured out what to drop from the addresses they opened fine for me also.

Kangroo, you did well to hire that done. It would have taken a major disk to have cut those weeds. As Joel has pointed out using a bottom plow is slow. One thing I don't know if you mentioned or not but does your plows have any trip or shear to them IF you hit such as large root or stone? You are plowing ground which you don't know and if your plows do not and you hit such with fast ground speed...oh well... plow damage or even operator getting hurt is very possible as the tractor could stop all at once and you could keep moving. Probably good seat belt work. Do not make mistake of trying to plow the dirt too deep. (ask local farmer there what depth they suggest and of course do not over load your tractor and plows. If your wheels are spinning, pick up the lift. You will also want to disk it the same direction in which you plow it to reduce bouncing. With second disking you probably will be able and wish to disk at an angle to the first disking. This will depend on how hard the dirt is. You probably will need to experiment with the disking, you may find over lapping by 50% where each time the disk is 50% in undisk ground works best (can help if ground is rough as two wheel are on smoother ground and also if disk is having problem cutting weeds due to not being heavy enough) or very little over lap. This will depend on your preference and your ground. If you do 50% over lap you will be disking it twice as you cover it. Have fun! Make money! kt

From a person who has owned many a Ford with the way Ford has embraced the Gay and Lesbian community so widely that would please me. I have no problem with treating Gay and Lesbians fairly but to the point point Ford has is not fair, it is very biased that direction. So to used ew line above, "told them go f%$#& themselves" guess they are. If you are not aware of this, look on line for where what events Ford pays for. They are not secret about it at all. It is their right but mine to stand up and say, no more Ford in my drive way.

Do not take this as I hate Gays or such. I do not care for any "in your face attitude" regardless of the group. kt

There is one other possibility that I am sure you have tried, using a lower gear. I would think if you were using too high a gear you would have figured that out by now. But the obvious can be easy to miss. kt
