Murf, you probably could use a piece of galvanize pipe and it's weight should keep it down.

Mobilus, you should have no problem with air pressure that distance.

When it is hot see if all areas of the radiator are hot, it there are cool areas coolant is not flowing there. Those point and check therometer work good for that. It is hard to believe hardwood is not correct. Surely in this length of time you have changed air filters and all the rest. kt

No doubt dirt daubers could seal a crack in any dam. Had leaf blower they liked the air intake holes in the plastic cover. Many people miss no air, no run. Years ago saw a Detroit Diesel fired up with stuck throttle body and it went wild in a hurry. The breather had not been install and a piece of card board over the intake save the engine. At same time the air intake does not have to be fully restricted to keep an engine from full power or any power for that matter or to cause it to over heat. kt

Hey want to make the tree huger, gun hater, anti diesel and no meat nervous? Just attend parties with those types and as they nibble on their little snacks point make claims as shallow as theirs...did you realize they cut trees down to grow...did you know they shipped that lettuce here from Mexico with polluting diesel trucks and there were hungry cows shot for eating the lettuce in the fields...just so you could have it. Might be hard to get into next party.

Hardwood, in my county if you could find "land" farm or wood for $5,000 per acre it would be snapped up. Most of the rented farm land is local family owned. Even the corperations here who have rented farm land are still in the $50 or so per acre per year. Some do pay in advance and some at end of year.

BA, understand some on the gound issue so you may not be able to but you probably could either wrap a cable or rope or such with slip knot at the base of those trees and pull them up possible with the tractor lift.

kangaroo, some more thoughts following these other guys, on my dirt a subsoiler and chisel plow do some good work. I do NOT think you would be pleased with chisel plow in the trash you have. Not sure you would be happy with subsoiler either. You need to CUT the weeds and roots and those plows work best in clean ground. Now, if you want to pull the roots out the ground into piles to burn or haul off a chisel plow can be a great idea.

Ask an older farmer about using subsoiler on your muck dirt. It may help, hurt or make no difference. Ask so you don't make a mistake or waste money or time. Subsoiling can affect the way your dirt handles water a lot. If your dirt has a hardpan as Joel mentioned it can be a real help. If it does not have a hardpan it probably is a waste of time and effort to. If you don't know if it has a hardpan try digging a hole. If you hit a layer of compacted soil that is "hard" you have a hardpan. Normally only tested down about 24 inches and many subsoilers will not plow any deeper either.

If your land is heavy with the weeds, hire it cut with rough cut mower by another farmer. Usually not that much compared to a company who does "construction" land cutting. Totally agree with Murf the smaller pieces the trash is cut into the better off you will be. If you don't mind a few hours or disking one way and than another that will do a lot to cut up the trash. Again drying in between.

Your coulters are suppose to cut the trash ahead of the plow, are they doing that? YP, Murf or Joel can give you a good idea of how deep they should cut, my guess is about 2 inches. New plows normally are rough. Get the metal slick, will make a world of difference in wet dirt. Dry dirt rough plows are fine. Dry dirt will act like sand paper and will smooth the metal, giving a cutting edge a very sharp edge. I think it was YP who pointed out wet dirt is hard to work. It sticks so easy to metal.

You will find scrapers on some disk to remove build up of wet dirt from the blades. You may need that on your disk if you will always be working wet dirt.

You may be well off to hire a local farmer with heavier equipment to do the first disking and cutting of the trash. kt

EW, hate to bust your bubble but what is sales tax taxable varies so much from state to state it is unreal. Does Delaware have any sales tax? What Harvery said about the differnce between what the materials is used for DOES NOT MATTER IN SC. If you are repairing, build new or adding on it is TAXED. and in SC the one tax you better pay it the SALES TAX. They will close a business quicker for not paying that than any other tax in this state. When you get to something like sales tax that varies so much from one state to another and then throw in the counties and cities and how they add on to the state's sale tax you really have to know for that local tax district and my friend called by the locals as "he who drives in sort of circles", is my story and I am sticking to it. kt

EW, we found solution to the loose nut behind wheel of pickup here, very simple, no more Detorit built pickups...oh did not mean to hurt so badly.

Klien...was not trying to be rude and it came out that way sorry. Not looking back but thought Dennis only point out web best place to buy the item. I understand about Murf ability to point it out where it got your understanding. He has done that for me a few times. Also some times (man thing I know) the first time or two we just don't hear it or in this case read it. Glad you got it working. As to headlights, do you really need them on the trailer? :) kt

Conadoarms, I think you can find a Detroit Diesel 453 near you if you look aroung. They were used in a lot of applications of heavy equipement. From logging to off road cranes. As Art pointed out there are noisy and did have a problem with running away and required an emergency cut off system also. Proper muffler and air filter does help with the noise. Worked for crane company for years that used the 453, Cummins 378, Cat 3208 and a Deutz. By far the 453 was the loud one and had lower torque than all but the Deutz which had none. If memory is correct they are a 2 cycle engine as you said. They was different valve set ups and such affecting the horse power and noise level. It started better in the cold here (20s above) fair. Cat was better. Cummins required help.

On Murf's saying it was being over cooked the reason it is tough, pay attention to how little cooking is suggested on ham and you will find it as he said, tender and juicy. And as Hardwood said, bring the eggs and for me, the grits! It don't get any better. kt

Murf, where can you find those and any idea on price?

Dennis, I have seen 4 or 5 foot with 3 pt hitch at Agri Supply for about the $700 price range. Looked very well built. That was 3 or so years ago. So price will be up. They do have a web site and do ship but think you would have to call them on this item. They carry a lot of products that do not show on web site or catalog. Not sure why. kt
