SG, forgot to thank you for the idea of burning the edge of the pond. Have never used or seen one of the propane torches for weed control used, wonder if they would do good for keeping those slopes clean? kt

Murf,
I do have some major limbs that need to be cut. Can use pole saw to cut those and then use smaller cutter to keep the new growth trimmed.

On the cutter with the gas engine on top, any idea how much of an angle they can take and not damage the engine? kt

Pete, it is not just tractor dealerships. I bought a four wheel drive pickup a few years ago. Was given very careful instructions how to shift in and out of four wheel drive. They were totally wrong compared to the manual which worked very well. The salesman was very surprised when I went over the manual with him. <br>

You may find a dealership who is more in the commercial business better to deal with as they often have the smaller machines. At least they do here. The true Farm Dealerhships do very little with the none farm equipement as Candoarms pointed out. <br>

Do not let that make you feel you have a bad machine. Maybe not a great dealership but you probably will not need him a lot and may find a great one.<br>

In reading Candoarms reply that was a tangent (he admitted it was) on "trees around pond" made me wonder, how about a point system where you are allowed to post an "obvious" answer or run off on a "tangent" for "X" number of good posts? Or some other rating system? ;) kt

I am not aware of one but you might also find a local farm tractor dealership who deals in them.

Know nothing about the dealership who's link I am giving you other than they are in Seneca. The advertise on the web they offer grey market tractors.

Murf, I was told to "use" the slip clutch so when you needed it to slip it would. Have been told the same about them rusting stuck. kt

There may be someone here with a crystal ball but the only way I know to be 100% of no cash out of your pocket for any time is a warranty and then what does it cover and who stands behind it. Even if no cash out of pocket you still can have problems.

Is it possible you have bent the linkage preventing the full travel of it? I have a B2710 that has required adjustment of linkage so it could get full travel. Have also had a stick get into linkage preventing full shift. Guess I am saying get someone on the seat to shift and someone under the tractor to watch as it is being shifted. With tractor off of course. Or use that brother in law who is pain under the running tractor. :) kt<br>

In rereading your question, you need to use the clutch for shifting the PTO on your tractor I think. The impression I got was you do or did not. Not sure on your model if you use the clutch or not but there are others here who will know.

The Swiss are FAR from perfect and the Japanese from always being peaceful people. The Swiss have had many cases of bribery, money laundering and such. Even in the recent years. You can kill with more than the gun or the sword. Yes a sword can be a very dangerous weapon and yes if that is the most modern weapon you have to use, then that is the one you use. All countries have imported weapons if they can improve their own military powers, regardless of what they are called.

God Bless our leadership who does not care what a person or a country thinks and is willing to bomb, shoot or kill who ever they honestly believe is a threat to this country. I will tell you I do not respect any person or county who has no backbone. Even this dummy knows you do not spend your military supplies on none threats. So why would Terrorist waste them on such a country. The fact they have not attack the Swiss (at least that you know of) does not prove how they view them. There are many countries they have not attack I doubt they think of as friend.

Murf, made a call to local rental center. Their only excavator is about a 25 or so hp Cat.(size is what I think I would want.) Rate is high to me for Saturday just below $300. For a week $757 and 2 weeks right at twice that with a 9 hour limit for a Sat and 40 hr per week limit. The best I can guess I would have about $2,000 low side in rental fees.

Don't just send a bill to the county, get on the phone or in person with your elected rep, as the contractor may not be there long. His lack of action to you should be noted as it may be a pattern with others. The county should be able to influence contractors to do the right thing.

A quick look at ebay may also help you. If I thought I would be selling so quick resale value is my first concern, why buy new? You might might be able to hire the work for the loss you expect or find used to begin with.

There are lot of Kubotas in my area, the larger they get, the less there are by far.

rismith; I had a gear a tooth popped off of while disking in a manual transmission on a larger Kubota. The best I could find out was, must have just been a bad gear or piece of metal. It was outside of warranty not for hours but for time. Guess what I am saying, there are bad parts in anything. Mine sat in shop for about 2 weeks to find the noise and then get all parts. But it was not just sitting, it was either being worked on or waiting on a part.
