Murf, there is a local company who became famous for their trailers built with that design. They were built to tilt and were for on the road. Mostly used to haul small farm tractors and such. They quit a few years ago with that design. Could have been legal or DOT issue. One thing about that design, if you put brakes on them, be sure it is the rear wheel. I have pulled more than one of a few miles.kt

EW, it is "Stumpy". :) If you want to see something that will get your attention, look at pictures of mower accidents taken in emergency rooms. Of course it is not just mowers. Worked with major heavy equipment plant where a coworker had an arm twisted off. If not for the grace of God I could have been the one rather than him. BTW, still have all my limbs and trees. <br>

Crunch, I am not a well expert by any means but many people here who have wells have a 110 outlet on them for a light or heating element. To be fully safe you should be wiring to an insulated wire for the neutral side of your 110 outlet, which you may or may not have. The concern I would have is with the neutral side and ground. If you have a metal pipe in the ground that may be sufficient, but some pumps are using PVC which wil not take care of your ground/neutral side at all. The checking of the load is part of it and as has been pointed out a motor has a heavy start load compared to the running load. But if you has using numbers already used a 30 amp circuit to your pump and it is only drawing 20 amps, so you wire into that circuit your 110 circuit is protected by that 30 amp breaker if you don't add another breaker at the outlet or fuse. So if you use 12 guage wire for the 110 outlet and there was to be a short in it, it could heat enough to cause a fire and never trip the 30 amp breaker. Of course if you decide to buy another wire or pvc pipe, you must be clear of the already buried wire to the pump. See if you can get that wire and any other wires marked.

Someone has used the term PHASE in this conversation and someone else has used the term LINE. They are not the same. If your pump is 3 phase and I guess it could be, be sure someone who knows 3 phase is working on that circuit. kt

You have not mentioned if this equipement is new to you or not. Did it use to run this mower on this yard fine before, is this problem new or is the tractor and/or the mower new to you? I run a 20 hp at the pto with a 6 foot finishing mower and it does fine. On my thickest grass, I do have to slow down ground speed.

If this problem is new,then something has changed. IF what EW pointed out is not it, is it possible the radiator is clogged? Could the fan belt be slipping? Water pump not working? (you have already discussed the thermostat) Is it only when using the mower you have this problem? If so have you checked to be sure your mower is fine? Can you by hand turn the PTO shaft? If not there may be an issue with your mower in greabox or such. Is it possible you are using to high a ground speed? Will depend on how thick the grass is, how much you are removing and such. Are your blades sharp? Are you running the engine at proper RPM to get the needed PTO speed?

EW, you combine the ideas...put a toilet on it for the seat, heat hotdogs on the engine for sale to go with the ice cream in the box you installed. All with a flag on it and you in the parade...please post pictures. Don't forget the flowers! Then you could run in circles to match the Shriners in the Parade (please not throwing off at them). kt

Randy, I agree you did a very good job. But as to the hog, I believe he finds the acorns with his nose. But I have never asked a hog while he was rooting. It seems they use to say a reporter had a "nose for news". Maybe that is why the news reporting has gotten so sorry, no noses. kt

KW, try install the cartridge from the end you are not doing so now if your gun will let you. I can not remember for fact but think I drop mine in from the pump end. I would have to pull one to be sure. kt

You guys will probably laugh at this but those temps I don't understand and don't want to.

Do you also use any kind of say blanket with your tractor so the heat is sort of kept in? To me a block heater would loss most of the heat in an zero enviroment about as quick at it can be heated due to the metal transferring it so effeciently. kt

Art knows his equipment and is a true professional. His suggestion will work for a lot of people.

I normally run a leveling bar on my disk. If you will be using any such device you must take that into consideration. To me a lot depends on your wants and needs. You will find cutting 4 inches deep at say 3 or 4 mph on flat land to be so different than 5 mph 6 inches deep on slightly rolling land. Of course the angle the blades are set also affects. You need to know what you want the dirt to be like when you leave the field. For "my use" I rather have larger blades and more weight per blade so I can cut as deep as desired and trash. It surprises me the difference between brands of disk in how they cut and how hard they are to pull while their specs can look alike.

The size disk you looking for probably can be found in the used farmers market. If you buy any used equipment, be sure you can get the parts for it. With disk that mostly means bearings. kt

Murf, now really what do you think about ZTR mowers? Don't hold back. I am LOL as I typed that. As a person who has one and really enjoys it and it has done a great job and it cuts a good bit of grass each week...I agree with all you have said about them not only in this thread but many others. They will destroy more grass than you can grow if you are not carefull. They are probably the least stable of all riding mowers on wet grass on slopes or slopes period. But used correctly they can be great. If not different story. Never riden an ATV, to me they are a lot alike...fast equals dangerous. But that is my opinion. kt
