I have a Kubota B2710. I do some gardening with it but only some. It does not have the clearance you need for any crop once it breaks the ground. Many vegetables are planted on some kind of bed or the cultivation of them creates a bed. This eats up the limited clearance of any compact tractor I have ever looked at. <br>
Not knowing the JD models that well I would want at least a model L with Kubota just for the clearance issue. Murf gives very good advice when he says you buy the best size for what you will do the most of (hope that is close Murf). I have used a M 6800 Kubota with RFM and it did fine. An over kill, yep in the yard but just right clearance in the field, garden. <br>
As to Dennis comment on the hydrostat pedals, have a Kubota CUT with the single pedal and really like it. I can understand where dual pedals could be an issue. <br>
If you are planning on plowing you will find you need ag tires with proper ballast. The traction will be an issue or could be when working in a field. Some will tell you ag tires will damage your lawn, I have used two different 6 to 7,000 ag tractors on 3 or 4 diffrent yards myself with no show of the ag tires. It is the front tires digging in when turning that will cut the yard. <br>
Be careful where or whom you consider used with. All selling such are not honest. Most states have no title so if it is stolen, hard to know. <br>
I have been very pleased with my Kubotas. Was pleased with Case very well also. Find dealership of any brand you get along well with and then look at the next dealership for that brand just in case the first closes or they change brands. Both happens. <br>
Jim, gotten long here. Look at what equipment you will need for your berries and such. They will do some telling you what you must have in tractor. Pulled equipment eats up horses. <br>

One thing different with those tractors he mentions is WEIGHT. They are heavy compared to the tractors of that size today. They pulled better due to that. Also, the HP went up on them right quick. 601 Ford Workmaster was about 34 HP I think.

Ken,
I don't sell cars but I think I know the meaning of Limited on them. It means it is only limited by your wallet.

I mostly drove straight drive, until I just got plum tired of left leg cramps in traffic jams here with tourist traffic. As the sharks say, send more. The last ones tasted fine.

In reading this thread I have finally realized something, there is a certain amount of Tim the Tool Man Taylor is all of us.

Many of those here use a CUT to cut (keep those letters straight) grass as Tim would because it is bigger or morepowerful than a lawnmower is. Could there be a better reason??

Iowafun, do you have rifle mount on your rollbar? Or tripod on your hood?

I suspect, as a person who does pay at least some attention to what is going on, there were many factors which combined lead to the break up of the USSR. Some the general public has no idea of.<br>

Last night I listen to a talkshow fill in for Dr. Michael Savage on talk radio. He was talking about the sorry lot of trying to get customer service with his airline and their nonusa telephone service call center. He was expressing what you said he would.

FYI I called my local IP and got hit with a foregin call center also, Missouri.

Naw. If you wanted to cut down on dinnger guest just have a toilet seat in the dish strainer drying.

I understand in some of the the formal communist countries toilet seats are missing in motels. Is there where the quick releases are used? Could be advanted there, carry your own..Can see the suitcases with the special compartment. That might be where the money is and not in the seat itself! Then you get into custom designed and fitted models.

And we thought laptop personnal computers were special.

No insight in to your tractor not cranking but if the dummy lights are the front lights and if your BX came with the same headlights my B did you can place a higher wattage bulb in them. Orginial wiring and light fixture worked very well with the new bulbs.

Wish I had come across this before adding additional work lights.

By no means am I the expert here that Art is. I think you need to consider what you will be cutting and how fast you plan to run with your tractor.

I have a 20 PTO HP CUT and use a 6 foot RFM it does very well as fast as I can drive it, except where my zosyia is real thick. Still cuts fine but at much slower travel speed. This grass is cut weekly. Same grass bogs a 52 inch ztr with 20 hp.

If you can not find receipt and you did not pay with cash..look back to the method you paid for receipt. Such as cancelled check or credit payment.

A few years ago had a recall with Nissan. The paperwork they required to be reimbursed was a totaly ploy. They did not accept the paid receipt by a Nissan Dealership..if they can not trust them then who can? Not me.

If I might add to Murf's thoughts on the utility size farm tractor. If you live near a larger population area look into a more rural area for that tractor. Those prices can vary a lot in just a few miles.

Also to Murf's comments, I don't handle as many acres but the second tractor is a real assest.

I stumbled into this thread sort of by mistake. Found it very interesting.

As a Southerner and proud of it. (if I was from somewhere else I would want to be proud of that also) A line used here is: He needed killing, Is defense enough. This guy must have fit that.

Glad you took care of it. Makes me wonder, where did you hide the body? Was that when you demo the backhoe and chipper? Oh, it was chipper, boat and airplane.

Last week open solication for Magizine. They showed tractors people had built from different machines. One is from a over the road semi. Guess this is what Murf was talking about earlier in this post.

Have no idea what they have on their web site but it is suppose to be.. www.farmshow.com.

I am not familiar with this company, other than receiving their mag. solication.

A local tractor dealership in a very small community can agree with what you point out. A couple of young boys straight wired a piece of equipment, one got hurt and they ended up paying.
Another ex-tractor dealership was sued and lost all when he pulled gun on two would be theives who jumped or fell off the roof they were breaking in though and got hurt.
Now, tell me people like those here don't need to serve on jury duty.

Even being very careful a tractor is dangerous. I saw a young lady with a noticably dented right front car door. It was caused by a rough cut rotory cutter thowing a piece of probably wood over 50 feet into her car as she drove by at highway speed.

Zorro, all I have to say is you must have a very good homeowners policy. May I ask the company? If they sell in SC I do want to talk with them.

I think Dennis made a point that can be over looked. Our eastern trees are not as big as many of the western shore ones. If you were to think you could just pull over even a large limbed eastern hardwood you would have problems. Also the term pulling one over may be being used to different degrees. If a tree is large, leaning 45 degrees from where you want it to fall, your options are very limited.

I think I know what I can and cannot do. That is why the real large trees around family members houses we brought in a tree removal professional that did take them down in sections, ecept the smaller one which he pulled with his tractor.

Our local power company uses a rope and pulley and pull their trees by hand. That tells you they are not pulling anything of real size.

One thing I would like to point out here, if you have never cut a tree with no limbs it falls faster and hits harder than one with limbs does.

With all of this talk on how dangerous or foolish you are for doing so...how about those machines that grab a tree, cut it and lay it down. They are not just cutting 20 foot tall toothpicks.

Pat,

There is little here to work with. We have a two wheel drive Gator. Other machines are stronger and smoother. However, I rather have it by far over the golf carts used here. You can find used Gators at what I think are good prices also.

Now, we went with Gator for two reasons, one my wife wanted green and was for her. Number two, it is classed as a farm machine and legal on our state roads where the other brands were/are classed as off road and are not legal on roads.
