I have read and reread many of the comments in the line of thought. Sure made me think of conversations of young bulls as to which brand of pickup was the best and how you were able to sup of this brand compared to that one. I learned something from both. If you don't like it, it will give you terrible service.

I have two suggestions that are worlds apart from what I have seen, so if you don't like them (or anyone else for that matter) it is fine.

How about hiring someone? Here it is big business with some very lost prices if your yard convient.
I suggest you look at low price z turn. Believe you will be ahead of the tractor style regardless of brand. Some of those do make their own. They are so much better to operate, you may just want to keep a good size yard. My wife and a friend both like cutting our yard to use the z turn. It is also much faster (not necessary in groun speed) than other styles I have used.

ncrunch32 I was very fortunate in talking with Super Sod (super-sod.com)before going with Zoysia. They will tell you there are many false claims on the value of Zoysia. They suggested Zenith zoysia which can be seeded, plugged or sodded. I used some sod and seed. Seeding it, the way it spreads and such remind me a lot of centipede. It will grow where centipede is afraid to go. I greatly prefer it over centipede or the bermuda grass that is in spots of my yard. super sod says bermuda will not be taken over by zoysia but I really think mine is slowly. Be sure you buy a variety of zoysia that works with your mower. Some are for "reel mowers" only. Fine as frog hairs. It is brown in the winter. More so to me than centipede. I am a big fan of zenith zoysia. Have two friends with totally different yards and they like theirs very much. My yard is 2 acres and a lot of sun located a few miles from Myrtle Beach SC. So far I have always planted rye but must mow the zoysia close or where it is thick the rye will not reach groun to germinate. Golf course friend tells me it left alone it will get so think it kills itself. Hope this helps. KT<br>

Peters, what variety of zoysia did you try? On rotary cutter I would agree a 5 food deck is a large as you want on my B2710 Kubota. It will handle the 52 inch very well in thick wet grass also but 10 acres of that and I would be bored. One point I really like on my B2710 and the 52 inch mower is the mower is the width of the mower. It is great in the woods around us. It will fit between trees full size tractor can not. Also short wheel base helps.

please help me understand the turning over sideways. Was that with a 3 point mount or a side mount? Was it on sloped ground or level ground. I have seen this happen with 3 pt and it did pick front of tractor up while the auger went all the way and I mean all the way down before the clutch could be hit. One point I have not seen mentioned and could be missed it is be sure to run LOW rpms. THis is not a case of the 540 range if you are not sure of clean dirt.

The piggy bank is what I thought the problem with Bomford units was. I was on their web site when your message hit. I have considered building my own but was stuck on the cutter itself. It would have to be hyd. driven and I could not find a hyd driven flail mower and to put a hyd motor on a pto unit looked like some what of a rpm challange. Any advice on your experience would be appreciated.

I purchased from Agri Supply a 3 point mounted bucket that looks just like for front end loeader. It has small hyd cyl to replace 3rd arm. You raise it with 3 point hitch and tilt it with hyd cylinder. Your tractor must have one remote hyd for this to work. Agri Supply is on the web and if this is not on there send them email on it. It was made in Florida. It did cost more than the scope bucket but haven used both no comparions to advantage. Scope will dig and this will not. Range of action is not near the same as front end loader but neither is price.

I purchased a used B 2710 about 3 years ago for mostly mowing. My dealer recommened it over an L model for the HST and power steering so my wife could use it. By far for mowing the HST is the way to go if you have trees or such or just to slow down to turn and try not to cut the grass. The first tractor I ever bought the dealer talked me out of turf tires and let me test normal farm tires on his turf. He point was the front tires turning does the tearing and he was right. My B 2710 has industrial tires and they seem to be a good mix of pulling and easy on turf. I also found the HST to be great for any work that requires stop and go such as using blade or rough cutter. Like the manual trans for work that needs a steady speed or you need to be able to turn using the brakes as with the HST that option is lost in real use or on my model it is. Two points I have not seen in these replies is...lighter tractor is rougher riding...does not bog as easy and if it does it easier to pull out...also less traction. If you buy HST be sure you use the right range and not just depend on the light use of foot control.
