Your BX (without any attachments) will physically fit into a pickup bed, and at about 3/4 ton should not overload a typical full size truck, but you have to consider how you are going to load it. The tailgate is not designed for that kind of weight and it certainly would not be wise to park the tractor on the tailgate once it is up there (as you would have to in a short box truck). The best place for it is on a trailer. Just borrow one or rent one if you don't have a need to own a trailer.

I noticed a similar instruction in my BX1500 manual for engaging the mid PTO. Said to slow down the engine before engaging the PTO. Would I risk breaking something by engaging the belly mower at full throttle? It also says to only run the mower at full throttle. Suggestions?

I have an Uncle who owns a mid-80's era Kubota L2250. He uses it on a hobby farm primarily for bush hogging and snow blowing (in Buffalo, NY). It has never been kept indoors and he is one of these people that drives things 'till the wheels fall off without doing much in the line of proper maintenance. The sum total of problems he has had with his machine... recently replaced one wheel rim because the liquid calcium ballast rusted the wheel from the inside out. And that's it. Basically, it's been ridden hard and put away wet, but keeps on going. Tough little machine and it still retains a significant value.

IMO it is more important to use a good fully synthetic oil in the ENGINE vs. using fully synthetic fluids in the HST. (not that is has to be a choice, one or the other) I'm sure Kubota put plenty of R&D into sourcing the proper HST fluid. There is a lot of outside research to support the use of full synthetics in an engine, however.

I did a lot of research about mid-mount vs. rear mount before I purchased. If you have a big open field, the rear mount is your best choice. If you are cutting a lawn around your house with obsticles or the need to get in close, then get the mid mount. The list price from Kubota for the 54" mid-mount on my BX1500 is $1600. So, $1400 for a new 60" unit on a bigger tractor sounds like a pretty good deal.

My BX1500 was purchased just before the BX1800 and 2200 evolved into the 1830 and 2230. I am pretty sure that the 1800/2200 did not have cruise control, but did share the same fender console as the 1500. If that slot is used for cruise control on the 1830 and the 2230, then why does the label on my 1500 show a hydraulic cylinder? It doesn't look anything like the cruise control label on the 1830/2230. My brain hurts...

I don't mean to high-jack this thread, but I am interested in something similar for my BX1500. I want to add a hydraulic valve for rear mounted implements. Is there a kit to add the block, valve, and a control lever in the stock right side fender location? My plan would be to install a bracket with quick disconnect fittings similar to larger rigs.

Three reasons not to mess with the tire size on the BX series...

1. Gearing. Since the front and rear tires are different sizes and the tractor is equipped with 4WD, changing the tire size could cause a binding situation.

2. The mid mount mower. When the front wheels are turned to the max left or right position, there is very little clearance with the mower deck.

3. Fender and axle clearance. There is not much room under the rear fender for the back tire or between the front rim and the bevel gear housing on the front axle.

I am interested in a brush guard for my BX. It doesn't need to be the Rock of Gibraltar, but I would like a little front end protection from tree braches and brush. The plastic grill is way too delicate compared to the rest of the machine. Anyone know of a good aftermarket source?<br>

Does anyone know the name of the vendor (mentioned earlier) that sells implements specifically for subcompacts? I know I can get them through my Kubota dealer, but I would rather not pay a Kubota price.

MSRP is about $23,300 according to the deere website. That's about a $3000 savings (almost a 13% discount). Doesn't sound like a bad deal. Ask about dealer support though, transport to and from their facility for warrenty repairs or the possibility of on-site technician housecalls. That way, you'll see if they are willing to put their money where their mouth is!

I just checked out the hydraulic top link kit from Carter and Carter. Very nice setup. Believe it or not, I think the shortest version will work well with my BX. It does have TTLS (see Mark's post), but I actually need the ability to lengthen the link to between 20"-22" while blading and retract to about 16" to pick the blade edge up 8"-10" off the ground when the lower links are already at the top of their travel. The link kit cost is reasonable, but as for the valve kit from Kubota... might not be so reasonable.

Try setting the bucket down and pulling it backwards. I just bought a rear grader blade to do my driveway with and I was having the same problem. I set the blade so that the biting edge is facing the tractor as if I am going to pull with it, but instead I go backwards and push using the back of the blade. Works great. It uses the weight of the blade to stay down. When the snow gets too heavy, the blade has a tendancy to ride up and over. In that case I just turn the blade around and scoop off the top of the pile.

The BX1500 with 54" MMM is perfect for your application. You'll love it! I have one for about 2-1/2 acres and it reduced my mowing time by 1/2 over my old Wheel Horse. $8600 is a great price. I paid $9K for mine with a 54" mower.

I have a bx1500 and just purchased a 5' rear grader blade to use primarily for moving snow. We don't usually get much snow here, maybe only a couple feet a year, but enough to nead to clear the driveway. Every couple of years we seem to get a storm that dumps 1-2 feet all at once. Anyway, a blower is a pain because I have a gravel driveway and a front blade is WAY too expensive for the amount of use it will get. So... the rear blade was a cost effective alternative that I can also use in the summer for landscaping. The problem is that I can't get the blade completely vertical. If I extend the top link far enough to make the blade angle straight up and down, there is no room to lift. The arms are already at the top of their travel. Any ideas?<br>
