Craig me thinks you are going back a few years with your terminoligy. Some older tractors were configured that way. I spent many a hour on an old Farmal with one lever and one outlet. My brothers WD Allis has one outlet plus the hitch arrangement and it all runs from the 1 lever.

I do not think I've seen a newer tractor set up that way although those systems are still used: pick up snow plows w/o down pressure.

On the new JD CUT I've gotta think one coupler only on the back is for power beyond, but there should be a nipple there also. If there were 2 couplers that would be for the 3rd remote.

Morning Tom I hear you! A couple 3 years ago I was there. The abuse does get a little old and when I get in a mood I tend to go off and that's not productive.

Morning Art. Yes and No. During freeze up on the grindings the old ones, narrow shoes, would rut down in (of course they needed rebuilt anyway). On good snow pack now the 3" are a little much. But i've found that the angle and lenght of the cutting edge seems to have more impact on what is picked up and gouged.

During freeze up I have some up pressure so the whole weight of the blower is not on the shoes.

The biggest draw back with the wide shoes is trying to cut down the snow pack. The wider shoes will not allow the blower to drop into the pack.

I've looked at the cutter area and me thinks I can put a longer sharp cutter (installed like cutter on a Cat bucket) on it and control it with angle.

Now all that said: I am pretty damn IMPRESSED with this blower. And I have not had to replace 1 shear pin anywhere.

It may just get sand blasted this summer and new "proper" :-) green paint with yellow "P680" markings.

BTW the widow is still intrested. I'll take a day off (April or May) and drive her up to see you.

I would tell you that I like the rational you have to get the larger tractor. BUT I will say getting around trees and general mowing is easier with the 72". You do not have to get your tractor as close to the trees. But the 60" will go BETWEEN trees that are closer than 80" or so better than the 72.

Ken when you get your price back if you are not totally pleased with it go and buy a whole box of penciles and a thick pad of paper. Sharpen all the pencils and take them and your pad of paper along with your down payment drop them all on your salesmens desk and get to dickering.

Problem now is spring they have time to wait and you may not...

Me thinks I'd see what he has for inventory and at other locations. Then tell him to get the tractor here now and swap out tires later. Unless he's only a 1 or 2 tractor dealer he should have some used tires around to use for now.

Unless like you are guessing the request for special tires has it held up and there is some fine print about avaiable parts...

It would drive me nuts. Cause when I want something I want it NOW! I do not wait very well.

Art I'd forgot all about it. Wanted to take a peek at the baby Farmalls or McCormacks also. I'll see if I can get office life shuffled around for tomarrow.

I made mine that way out of 3/8 plate. Only I welded them to the top of the bucket.

abbywoods I've been thru the drill many times. You have posted some good advice.

Your diesel in a container is considered a "MOT" Material of Trade. If you remember those magic words you can get thru most DOT/Hazmat inspections with small quanities in non approved dot containers that do not show signs of leaking and are marked.

We use straps and chains at work. Any type of damage to either places them out of service. The biggest problem with chain is a bent link or some stretch. Binders have to have DOT certs on them.

We have 1 piece of equipment that is considered a super load, 165,000#'s plus, gross vehicle loaded. those chains have little tags on them with dot certs.

The 9n fetches a very good dollar in any condition. The restored ones are selling for $3500+ around here.

I'd just patch the tube that is in it and get it out the door.

If cleaning it up and painting will get you a $1000+ more and the paint and parts only cost $500 at most. Other than the time to do it it might be worth it.

Art I suspect you are correct. I'm waitng for the BIG BLIZZARD now. Looks like March is comming in like a Lamb...

It has definately been a good winter for snow removal. I've only used scraper once and that was more for cutting down the snow pack.

I've spent time blowing back banks for neighbors that have run out of room to push.

This blower works good on all types of snow. I don't like the light powdery stuff. It flies all over. Gonna have a cab next year me thinks.

BA I do not remember if you were getting a loader or not. I never use my brush cutter with out the loader on. So doing that would take care of your ballast issue.

In heavy field mowing like first cutting in mid to late July any thing is going to bog down or if you have hp enough to run it you'll start breaking things. You'd have to take it real slow.

So will 1-2 gears lower make up for extra 1'of cut. Or cut in a higher gear and only cut 4'-5' with a 6' cutter and have the width for your trails.

Happiness is trimming a nice bush...

kadorken I drilled thru and used a 3/8" bolt. There are switches in the middle of the bar for each set.<br>

You can get a self tapper that size if drilling is not for you.<br>

The front lights are mounted normally on the top lip and the rear lights are upside down on the back lip.<br>

I have yet to hit my head on them. I have hit my head on my radio a couple of times. Did not see stars but am going to relocate it somewhere.<br>

Chief my thought exactly. Its only a square tube with a 1/2x2" flat stock. a little cutting some welding and done. OH YEAH some green paint :-)

I use my boom for the same thing and hook down near the braces. Booms are only $100-$150. I've used mine for over 15 years and never bent it but have made it groan a few times.

Murf you tug back a bunch of old memories. Any of those kitchen ranges named Kalamazoo? I split stove wood for 2 of them growing up. But do remember of some of the uptown folks that had coal fired kitchen ranges.

I'm thinking an outdoor furnace burning a wood and/or coal combination might be something to prusue.

Funny how different parts of the country are. Our insurance is lower because of the pond near the house.

But last time agent was at house to upgrade insurance and saw all the black dogs with brown markings he did give us a warning not to ever submit a dog bite claim. They would pay it but that would be the end of insurance for us by any carrier.

We did have a good laugh over probably never having to submit a theft claim and we did get a reduction for that. GO FIGURE!
