Generally at construction sites there are ground heaters involved.

Plain Black plastic will absorb some of the sun but with the weather we just had -20+ for 2 days (our little valley) it would not help. For what little you'd gain during the day you'd lose more at night.

Maybe you can find the kind that has some baffeling in it for minimal insulation talk to a contrete contractor for some info on that.

I have used wedges of hay to insulate the ground for late season digging and or push lots of snow over the area to protect it from frost.

Factory cab, heat, a/c, cd deck... All JD Green but if they do not make one in 6-8 years I'm making a trip to Sangerfield for a Orange one.

Yellow pages unde diesel repair. If that fails call a heavy duty truck repair and ask them who rebuilds pumps. They will know.

It would be a rare pump or a very destroyed one they can not rebuild.

Ken keep it level or roll it back just a tad and do not use the float. Keep your down pressure there. Follow the contour of drive with up/down or a slight curl/uncurl.

If you have a build up you'll want to keep it closer to level and use enought down pressure to hold bucket on ground and maintain steering.

The only time I use the float is: if I am back dragging snow away from entrances and have the bucket cutting edge 45-90 degrees to the driveway.

The pipe trick sounds like a good idea, until you need to start removing snow pack then your skills at utilizing the cutting edge in relation to skimming or cutting will become necessary.

MURF You talked me into it. I am going diving. That cylinder deserves a better look. I found the pins for it on the shelf in the shop. there are 3" diaX6"long. While looking for them I uncovered a new cylinder just over 40" long with 3/4" pins me thinks that is my boom cylinder.

Not sure if that cylinder in dumpster can be used on this splitter but I'll check it. Me thinks it weighs in close to or more than 300#.

If I can't use it on the splitter it would make one hell of a stump puller with some cables from the drag line and a good anchor :-)

There are lots of pressures to use. BUT it depends on the size of your tip which should correspend to the thickness of metal you are cutting.

Of course then it depends on what gas you are using.

Chief It sounds more like a pin dropped out of the clutch linkage. Reason: He had been using it, He started it, He got it in gear and he was using the pto.

Usually a stuck clutch is a result of things sitting and rusting.

I'd start with linkages then free travel, adjust as necessary.

You named all of the stuff that will do a good job. Most of the stuf can be found at auctions. Unless your spare time proffessoring lets you buy new toys.

But you'd be fine with a 2 bottom 14 or 16" plough. The rest is 3ph stuff from tractor supply.

I just do not know how well the culivator would work in a garden. I did not like tending garden because I am to picky and anal about stuff growing that is not suspose to.

I grow some ter-mate-ers in 4x4 boxes but thats it.

I'm not into MM to much but I would believe they should be. All most all of the row crop tractors are adjustable. There should be two big bolts clamping the hub to the axle. Some of the tractors had rim locks you could loosen and turn the rim on the hub to adjust.

3 cubic feet? I'm thinking 2+ cubic yards in a 36" bucket. I gotta quit playing with the big toys.

3cf is gonna get you a bucket full of gravel or dirt at approximately 300lbs. Add in your fine muck with water and I'd bet you are over 400 lbs.

I guess it gonna depend on how far you have to reach to fill pick and reach to dump.

I have a little 18" bucket on a 4400jd with a 48 hoe frame mounted and a full reach over the side with wet heavy mud tends to tighten the spinter a tad. I have good solid contect with boom down lever at all times. Granted you are looking a bigger machine but it takes alot to handle mud.

I was editing photos and forgot I had one with tractor all chained up. Photo # 9

These were built for the R-1s on my old Ford and I did have to ad a few links to each cross link on the rears. They are old throway truck chains with pieces of grader chain and what ever else was handy. Each chain on the rear is well over 100#. I did have some old double rings thrown in on old set but there would have been clearance issues on this tractor.

The fronts are off 9.50X16.5 tires and the extra cross chains were added. All cross chains on front are v-bar for ice. These are a little long and the side chain rubs the tie rod end occasionally. But I keep it greased and push in new more than I really need to. Maybe this year since its all chained up and no where to blow I'll cut the cross links to shorten.

I just finished a trailer for my PTO gen and need to add a couple more things for cables. Also working on a new wood splitter 8" beam. All made out of scraps from work. They call me a dumpster diver. I call it raiding a treasure chest.<br>

dave light powdery snow is a problem for most blowers if you are looking for distance.

The confusing part of your post is the problem with wet snow.

I am gonna shoot in the dark here and suggest a faster ground speed.

Blowers need a fair amount of material to work good. Wahct is front of your blower are you pushing a little ridge of snow? If so slow down a notch if not speed up some.

If you are uncomfortable with the backwards speed try using your scraper blade a windrow the snow then blow the windrow at a slow speed.

Yes I like green but I like my old Farmall M. But I'm ah thinking that Kobota "Lexus" might be to my likin cause I'm getting to be a big sissy. A/C, CD deck, and the rest sound real nice.

JD would replace "MY DEALER" the axle if you whined about your turf no matter what kind of tires or attachments.

Mine a 4400 syncro shift went in 3 times for PIP's and a 4th for 48 BH.

The pip's were the axle, a bushing in the transmission, and a 3ph valve thingy (Still not sure what the fix was).

Some people that used them off lawn only had no issue with the steering geometry.

I am not sure what the current procedures are you would have to take the S/N to a dealer and ask.

I may be a little thick Dennis. I read lots of the abuse some were taking and dishing out.

But I guess I think I am hearing; if we do not have something constructive to say do not say anything.

Or am I hearing since I do not have or plan to buy one even if I have a answer that would help do not say anything.
