paburns Now that sounds like my kind of a yard. I read to many posts that sound like its gotta be "putting green smooth" it order to be a good lawn. Sounds like you are gonna have a great yard that will take all kinds of abuse from kids to parking your car under the shade trees in the summer. ENJOY

Bob I have tried several times to get the stupid thing to turn The only way I have done it is to have tractor running and release PTO brake and let the shaft creep or help it by manually turning it. I do not recommend this I have seen to many 1 armed farmers in this life time.

IT IS A PISS POOR SET UP WHEN ALL OF THE REQUIRED SHIELDS ARE IN PLACE!

My 3ph mower deck you will not turn with the pto shaft by hand. But I have all the deck shields removed to facaliate cleaning with leaf blower when done mowing. I can hold the pto shaft and roll the pullys with my foot.

Most of my other pto stuff will turn by hand.

We mananaged to burn the top floor off the house because of an improperly installed wooden shield around a steel chimney. No Insurance to speak of. Still paying for that. But I still get a tax credit for the loss accountant says for 9 more years.

Family has burned wood all of my life. I now use a barametric damper that opens as the flue heats essentially it keeps the flue gases moving, reduces draw and get a more even burn.

Chimney is still checked/cleaned 1-2 times a season. Most of the time there is no build up because of the damper system.

We burn wood that is seasoned a year and kept under a shed most of the winter. We do burn green wet wood when it is warm out to hold the heat down and still have flue gases moving.

I just can not believe all of us dumb ole farm boys kept our equipment running all these years these years with our fuel stored in steel painted tanks or a quick trip to the field with a gal 5 gallon can or plastic jug. My goodness to follow this thread would scare the life out of a tractor to know the fuel they run on might have been stored in something less than... I'm not sure what.

Reading this I wonder how the steel fuel storage tanks at home have lasted over 30 years.

I hope my tractor never finds out how my fuel is stored at the distributor and what the truck looks like that it is hauled here.

I have never seen a 100+ gallon fuel or gas storage tank that was galvanized or glass lined. I do not even think I have ever heard of one and I thought I had been a lot of places and knew quite a bit, until this thread.

I do remember issues with non fuel rated rubber hoses...I do remember issues with gas and styrofoam cups...

I guess I need to get out more.

Good to hear from the far north. I spent 6 years up there. 3 at Anchorage and 3 in Fairbanks.

I especially remember the snows in the Girdwood area South toward Seward. It will take a lot more blower than what you have if you get near those kinds of snow.

A word of caution from someone who's been there and done that. Get rid of the grade 5 shear bolts. Shear bolts are meant to be the weak point if the shear bolt does not shear and you bend your auger from a limb, block of wood, rock or a solid block of ice it will be a whole lot harder to shovel while you wait for parts to fix blower.

Kully as Tom mentioned size matters. If you can swing the blower with a 24" fan you are gonna be happy.

Mine new would be $3500+ hyd chute and rotation. I converted the chute to a turn buckle.

I got mine used and am very pleased with it. It has a few small things I still need to fix before I completely sandblast and repaint.

I'll say it again talk to Art and see if it's worth your drive down there.

Me sleeps 8pm to 4am EST this time of year and always try for 8 hrs a night. Have a cup of coffee and check mail before getting ready to go to work. I am at work by 6am this time of year done by 2 and during the construction season as early as 3-4 am and home by 6-7pm.

Working 40 weeks is very relaxing.

I think TP server is in central time zone.

Those kinds of parts are pretty genaric. Take it apart and take the bearings and seals to a good quality auto parts store or match up the numbers or go to your ag dealer to match up.

The front end loader will clear snow but not as efficently as a blade.

A blade can be angled and move snow to the sides a couple of passes and you're done.

BUT then again maybe you want all of your snow in a nice neat pile and your loader will work best.

Since you have a 2810 why not look at small dairy auctions for a used one pto driven.Many times there are many small pto spreaders avaiable.

The small ground driven ones would work ok and I would not have a brand preference, as long as you are not picky about how it spreads. BUT I am thinking your loader might be wider than the small spreader is long.

I have looked at them recently for topsoil mixtures, clipped grass, topsoil, leaves mixed.

Biggest draw back to ground driven is lack of spread control, feed vs ground speed and the more you try to feed the harder it pulls until something stops turning and you have to unplug it. Of course compost is not the same as box stall manure.

Olny draw back to the 2810 pulling and loading is : you'd have to unhook and rehook each load.

I am ASSUMING it is attached to the loader? If so why not just tilt the bucket curl until plow is leveled.

But if you has a really high crowned (domed) road no straight blade is going to get it all in a couple of passes.

Yup that is the direction I was headed, only not sky vision their prices seem awful high. I did get the replacement 550i for $125 so I keep plugging along with it.

Mostly only do his, discovery, westerns and hbo oh yea and cmt.

BOTTOM LINE: Is it comfortable to you? Talk to JD also, so you have another dealer price for comparitable features and equipment. Make sure you talk gear vs gear hydro vs hydro etc. Same hp, same tires etc.

If you like blue and you like the dealer buy blue same for orange. If you see some one using one, stop, most owners like to show off their babies and will tell you good or bad about the dealer logo on the hood. Plus they might even give you a haggle tip. Nothing beats a satisfied customer sending a referal and the dealer knows he's gonna make a deal because of the referal. The dealer will deal to make it happen.
