Well, Art, since you weighted. I don't know if the one I bought from you is a Puma. Me thinks my Pronovost is a littler heavier than a Puma.

I will say this about the 68" Pronovost, that I have, it is just as heavy as the best loftness in the same class and it is UNBELIAVABLE how far it will throw snow. I bought this past season in the spring and used it to open up heavy snow banks that 4x4's couldn't move any longer. I had a loader stacked snowpile out back and it chewed it up ice and all.

GET THE HYD CHUTE ROTATOR OPTION it is truley worth it.

If me remembers right Plots made a set. Used BIG truck brake drums bolted right on and could still get to the lug nuts.

I have a set of hub pilot drums from a 24.5 wheel size and I am sure they would bolt right into my 4400 turfs. Really do not need any more weight cause JD had to throw in a full set of weights with the deal :-). Lotta talking and dealing there...

Any heavy duty truck repair would have them laying there and no telling how cheap. Mine are free from shop. Scrap dealers really are not turned on by them.

Rat poison works real well. We live trap 1st, lead poison 2nd and use rat poisin 3rd once there are entrenched.

They do smell for 3 or 4 days but no more problems in the walls.

My edit button did not work. Will have to post Dennis. Anyway I only have 8-10# on steer under loader and never change that ven with heavy loader work. Rears are 10-12 I think. I really never use a guadge I look at print. BTW I've never broke a bead, YET! Probably shouldn't have said that.

In our, companys, little gravel plant operation at Polkville our loaders, dragline, dozers, etc. use over 900 gallons of fuel a day. We have never seen a filter plugged by dye. I would also say no one has ever noticed a sulfur smell. The big Cat's and Cummings have no problems with the fuel.

I use the dyed fuel here and have never noticed a sulfur smell or a problem with HP except when I have it cut with Kero for Jan and Feb and run it it the warm months.

But we do have a guy at work who has a very sensitive nose a he can smell a mouse that breaks wind 20 feet upwind... Wellllll that might be streching it a bit but a good fart will gag him :-)

Chief As much as I'd like to take credit for cutting and splitting that in those pics, I can't. But believe me growing up I have cut and split WAAAAAAAAAAY more than my fair share of the stuff.

Truth be known my wife has a knitting and embriodery shop and some bartering goes on here. I'll leave it there since Big Brother may be watching. (She does custom work for the small people here that only want 1 of a kind or a few more than that).

But I still cut lots of wood. We burn about 15 face cords here. Also have oil back up (which is my fuel source for little tractor)

I like the lights up there so when I turn my head left or right I not looking into one.

You are welcome any time. During the winter I have lots of time. Many projects here to catch up on, most of the time.

I'm spending a lot of time in the Castle Creek area. 2 more big jobs comming up on 81 south of Cortland.

We are working an average of 75+ hours a week now till mother nature shuts us down. We have a LOOOOONG way to go and a very short time to get there.

Any time you need a hand with something mechanical feel free to ring my bell.

Mostly it will depend on "How finished" you want or need the area.

But here goes: If it was me. I would mow the weeds, use, whatever I have bucket or boxscraper or round point shovel, to move out, ONLY, the rocks sticking up. Overseed it (you will be amazed at how much good quality grass lies, waiting, below the weeds), lime it(depends on your soil mine would need lime and still does), apply some 10-10-10 fertilizer, mow it no shorter than 3-4" for a season or so ( I still mow mine 2.75-3.5) spot treat problem weeds and enjoy.

OR you can plow, disc, harrow/drag, back blade, pick rocks till the great grand children show up, seed, fertilize, lime and roll.

jeffr I have several dings in the paint on my JD grill. If you use it (the bucket) you will ding it.

I put in a picture, #4, of my light system for working in the wee hours usually moving snow. Very little summer nights. However I did some work over at boys house 4 miles so I road it, the lights are VERY visiable.

It is wired into the JD harness with 2 toggle switches, center, to control either set.

PS don't worry about your undercut. It has already exceeded my warranty for work on stuff. "Ten feet or ten minutes". Which ever comes first.

Wasn't gonna add my 2 cents but will... Moderators do not have to read every post. They have software that flags certian words or phrases how ever you want.

They can also prevent any flagged material from being viewed until they review it.

Censorship is alive and well especially with newer software and the people willing to use it.

I ever use it in my writing software for grammar and spelling and spaces and....

Plots I spent lots of time in the Mojava. Know lots of stuff about sticky thinks. If it grows it has sticky things. If it crawls it has sticky things.

We did lots of playing in the desert and always had a pretty fair share of tire abuse. They build special tubes for most stuff out there. Seems like I was reading an enduro mag about some of the new slime products to go into tires to prevent flats...

You might check on desert racing, tire products...

Set it up on flat hard surface. Get your tail wheel pointed the right direction and adjust to the height of desired cut. Measure the tip of the blade to ground set you 3ph lever for that setting also. check it side to side and adjust leveler.

Your top link should have a povioting float there. adjust you top link long enough so it will pick the tail but not until the front is up some.

Unless you have a perfect flat lawn you will get scalping unless you anticipate the dips and raise you 3ph accordingly. This is where the long top link comes in. Also when you go over a slight ridge.

The engineers could build them to Gov't spec's "NIN-COM-POOP-PROOF" with 4" cylinders and 2" shafts. Of course the building of doubley or trippley extra strong would add considerable cost and weight and still someone would still be able to break it or bend it...

It's only high 80's here in central NY. Tends to get a little warmer on the job sites where we are putting down 300 degree blacktop. But sissy that I am I turn the blue thingy nob a little farther left and the fan thingy nob a little more to the right and keep right on truckin...

Life is good in a new, big truck... Plus the views of young ladies with skimpy little thingy clothes really makes the day interesting...

Summer is good but I am awaiting winter lay off... Its been a long summer already...

1stjd Thanks for the clear up. Art as usual you thought it thru better than me.

Check you OD and ID on the bushings you have. and see what you can come up with at a plumbing supply for pipe. Different schedules have different IDs and ODs.

8Nford I bought a radio like the ones on field tractors. Yup they are cheezy but they work. Any ways I had a hard time deciding where to mount on my 4400 JD. Finially welded a short piece of angle iron on the bottom half of ROPS and bolted radio on that. (I don't wanna hear all about the ROPs folding up or breaking if I stress it!)

I use -30db soft plugs with stereo muffs while mowing or other long seat time jobs works real good.

It also works good out in the yard with tractor not running for noise while I am tinkering at something.

Gonna take the whole radio to a good shop and get a digital radio with a GOOD CD fabricated for it. Also need a good line noise filter because of Cheezy wiring in tractors and alt noise.

Morning Cutter I tried to post this Fri. Try envirospec.com they have a very good tech library. Also if you need parts or soaps theirs seem the best for the money. I'd looked at a lot of sites for pressure washers/advice/soaps/washing and found this one buried in the search 4-5 years ago.

Most of the parts I've seen on these machines are genaric. We have 2 different ones at work and I have a Hotsey here, I LIKE HOTSEY! They're a little pricey but it has worked with out a hic cup for 5 years. I buy all my small parts at envirospec. I replace nozzles very often have several wands for different jobs all Stainless Steel connectors...

The only problem I have with Sears (I used sears alot because of the world wide support while I was traveling) is a vendor will not talk to you for parts you have to go thru sears. IE: Air compressor built by Devbliss (SP) the compressor part was almost $200 at sears and less than $100 thru devbliss. I still buy lots of tools at sears. Matter of fact after I got PO'd about that I bought another Air compressor from Sears on clearance because of scratch and dent so price was right and the quality is there. You can not beat the warranty on hand tools and electric tools are throw away anyway, now.

You are right Mark Wire is easier IF evry thing is set up right. Maintenance is higher on wire, gotta rent tank for arogon/co2 mix, can't weld outside in wind, metal has to be perfect clean...

Stick with 6011 you can weld old rusty junk, nickel and weld cast, 6013 on clean metal makes a purty bead for finishing a sloppy weld, 7018 is good for most every thing not mentioned above.

The smallest dia rod works best in the cheap stick welders and multiple passes are ok since I am not in production work anyway. The little buzz boxes will burn 1/8 rod ok but me thinks it is a little much rod to keep a good stable arc for the lenght of the rod.

KWS... the parking brake handle seems alittle short for the job it has to do. When I set mine my wife can not, noway, and not in this lifetime get it to release.

The cables are touchy little snots and getting both brakes to hold equally is a real pain.

My 3ph arms do not move very much with the pins installed, at least I don't think so but I've operated many a tractor that the arms had no way of holding except with chains and then you had to tie them together.

I've always been a little partial to my towing/work chains being on the front or side frame of my tractors. I have lost some off the back and had to go hunt them. I have started, a year ago, the brackets on the brush guard to put a couple of 6"X 12-14" deep conduit pipes with a bottom welded in them for chains. I keep the hooks hooked to the top lip. I've never lost one this way. I've had them pull out but I see the front...I only use 1/4 chain on the little tractor. Any heavier and I'd abuse it... 1/4 seems plenty heavy for a little compact.

Tom I do the same thing haulin tools and stuff in the bucket. BUT I'll be thinking 6 projects ahead and see something in the way I've ment scoop up and move to the bank where I dump stuff and GUESS WHAT..... Now I get to go pick up tools...

My 4400 has a little tool box built in on the left fender. I am surprised yours does not. Or does it have electronic stuff there???

Fueling: I stick a hose in it from my oil heat tank and pump away...
