When you buy the gen set buy it bigger than what you have HP for. <br>

Bogging down is not a function of the size of generator it is a function of how much electric you are using. As Ken says you'd be able to make about 16-18KW B4 tractor runs out of steam.<br>

A 24 or 30, even a 40 if the deal is right, would be a good size that way you never have to worry about running the gen to the max amps. Over heating the gen because of a marginal size is not good. The price is not that much difference.<br>

I have a 30KW gen with a 35 HP tractor. However I am looking at how to mount the gen to the wood splitter eng so I keep the tractor free, if I need it. Now I'd have much more power than generator. But I have enough gen to do anything for a normal home owner. Just enough gen to run neighbors milking pump should they have a problem.<br>

Currently my main Gen PTO tractor is the 4400 and the "M" is the very short term back up. I'd hate to buy gas for the "M" for an extended period.<br>

I see part of the issue is:

Many of the people that post a response have been there and done that.

Others read about it in a book. Have no freaking clue. BUT they are a expert, no matter what part of the world they live in. They come across like a superior being, smarter than anybody else.

Google is a good thing. However nothing beats real experience.

If you read it in a book or search engine save it. The person asking the question can get the same info there also.

I believe you can get a power beyond for it. However as Frank said the GPM is not gonna be there or the PSI that whould make a splitter reasonably efficient.

The PSI and GMP on the 2210 the splitter cycle time would be slower than pond water. You would also have to have fairly straight grained wood, no narly stuff.

If you just have a little wood to split you would be fine with the speed and limited capabilities.

I thought the original looked HUGE. I do believe that was the one I ended up using. It needs plenty of clearance. Mine has some signs of heat around the hood.<br>

I don't recall any fluid in mine. I would not rush out and buy a new one unless it fails again for the same reason in a very short time.

Getting the splines to match up is the biggest problem. I have the shields removed from my mower so I am able to turn the pulleys with my foot.

The shields are removed to faciliate cleaning.

You can also aling the splines by SHUTTING OFF the tractor and move your engagement lever just far enough to release the brake yet not engage the clutch. You can turn the tractor shaft by hand.

When you hunt with a truck make sure you have a BARBED Bale Spear mounted on the front. That way they do not slide back off when you brake.:-)

Farmi is a good one. My concern on a old Ford is the stoutness and lenght of the lift arms, no front end weight. If you take your time and ALWAYS make sure you are in a straight pull and keep the cable under the lower pulley you should be ok.

Your greatest problem is front end weight. You are gonna haf2 hang some (read lots) weight out there to keep the front end down. If you are verrrrrrry careful about your set up you might get past that.

I used one all summer on my 4400 and had it up on its side, not over, more than once. I was skidding in some very steep terrain. I'd have to reset many times and use additional pulleys attached to trees to keep straight pulls on some of the larger beech. Also cut logs smaller.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER SKID FROM THE SEAT!!!!!!!!!!! With a light tractor. Can you do it? Yes with in reason. Have I done it? Yes BUT I was very confident about the set up.

Check at your local Rod and Gun club. Typically there are many that do Varmints and would appreciate an inviation to help control that population.

I'm a little far away but that's what I'm doing for the neighbor who had coyotes eating a new born calf while its twin was being born they also killed the calf as it was being born. Problem is animals raised around dogs do not have fear of 4 legged critters.

Much of my winter will be calling them in or out with another group running them with dogs.

Unplug it and put in a jumper wire. Do not cut it. The dealers can not return it to you if it is not working.

Mine has been disconnected since day one and rehooked twice and the friggin PITA PTO shield is removed also. What a PITA to hook stuff up with a half dozen bullet proof shields. Most shields are removed.

It just seems safer to me turning something by hand to hook up rather than turn it with power trying to catch a spline.

When mowing I only bring tractor to idle with PTO running to move an obstruction or open a gate.

The PTO log winch is only operated from the ground.

If you can match the belt to an off shelf you will save money.

Example the Landpride uses a Landpride part # belt for about $40. The belt is 158" and can be had for $20 most other places.

Murf; I gotta good chuckle out of that remark.

Our County was out to clean up any and all that flowed into the Owasco water shed and went thru and dyed all the septics with a Red dye.

Have a little watering hole that looked like it would fall down anytime and it looked like that 35 years ago. Anyway one night a happy little fellow was talking to another very happy fellow about the very cool red colored ice cubes the bar had been using for the past few nights...

Needless to say that story has had lots of mileage...

My first thought is a loose belt. Low rpm no load it works hi rpm and load its slipping.

Tighten the belt it's the easiest and cheapest to start with.

New belts never hurt and keep tight.

Art yes Suit-Kote has the emergency highway contract. We moved 3 main crews down on Wednesday and Thursday. They were working in 6 different locations just trying to repair the worst wash outs. I've had 15+ trucks down there since last Friday working 16 hours a day every day. We did real well and scaled back to 8 trucks supporting the crews on the 4th.

It is a mess down. There are haybales in the top of trees. Cars stuck in culverts. I have no idea what farmers are going to feed this winter all the crops in the valley are gone.

There is another Company with emergency bridge/structure repair so not sure yet about who is going to do the actual work on 88.

Sorry about being a little off subject.

The set up will allow much flexibility for axuiliary power. I still can not believe how lucky I got with that motor. It had been under water and the dip stick had rusted off. I was a little concerned. Apparrently the water had pushed the oil to the top of the motor and as it receided the oil came down a recoated everything. The oil pan was a mess. The engine now has 38 hours on it total. It was brand new and sat for 10 years.

I'll have to post some other photos of the wood elevator going into the top of the wood shed and some of the beach we are cutting.

Now to get time to start on the dump trailer, PTO to transmission for 6WD and to run the pump. (Tim Allen grunt)

Several "ole geezers" me included, but I'm not an OG, will drive the old iron around the townships on a Sunday afternoon here. Speaking of which gotta get the M out.

We have many more antique tractor pulls. Plus all the farm shows during the summer. We also have the steam engine/tractor shows with reaping threashing jump balers etc.

And currently the major draw is "GRASSCAR" souped up lawnmower racing...
