I may have posted before about our having to move to an assisted living center. Things just got too difficult for both the Mrs. and me to continue on our own, even running a vacuum sweeper was just too much anymore for either of us. We listed an acreage with the farm house and the shop building with a Realtor, it sold in three days.<br>

So now two auctions have been scheduled one for our excess household goods, and the second for my furniture shop and farm equipment, the auction firm said it was just too much stuff for a one day auction. It is just unbelieveable how much stuff you can accumulate in fifty one years of marriage, most of it we had forgotten we even had.<br>
<br>
We've been in the center here for three weeks now and are getting accustomed to living in an apartment setting and beginning to realize that we didn't really need most of the stuff we had to make a happy home.<br>

It has been a great relief to the Mrs. to not have to cook and keep up with housework. The whole community eats in a central dining room, the meals are great and the fellowship is great too. It is kind of amazing that about half the people here either know someone we know or are realated to someone we know, it didn't take long to make friends. It is probably not for everyone, if you are still able bodied and can stay in your own home that is no doubt a better situation but for those of us who aren't this is ideal.<br>

Murf is correct. I have had farm tractors that would stay up for weeks with a load on the 3 pt., and others that would settle overnight with no load.
My 4310 will stay up for a week or more with a box blade on the 3 pt.
They will all be different, unless it is a sudden drop that causes danger to someone, I wouldn't get too concerned.

I've never driven a car or pickup with a CVT, but have driven tractors with them. I can see where having an engine operate in it's most efecient RPM range may help with fuel mileage, but whether the cost of the CVT will be greater than the fuel savings, I don't know.

Some of you may be thinking "Hydrostatic" when the term CVT is used, but no they are two completely different animals.

Sorry to hear about you taking the tumble. It seems we are always about a second and a half from being banged up somehow or other.
Your comment about eating the take out hit's home here too, some of the stale looking potato salad and other prepared things at the supermarket deli keep us eating our own food. We've never gotten sick from any deli food, but sometimes it made you wonder as you bit into it.

The acreage sold yesterday, pending financing, but I doubt they have a problem. Things are moving perhaps a bit faster than we had thought they would. Even in this rotten economy there are two other parties waiting if the first buyer fails, and it has only been on the marker a couple weeks.

God speed your recovery, heart surgery has advanced by leaps and bounds in the past couple decades.
I had an Uncle Lawrence who was one of rhe very first open heart surgery patients at the University of Iowa Hospital sometime in the mid 1950's. It was considered risky at the time but likely routine now. He was about 50 at the time and lived to be 94.

The first compact tractor I ever demoed was a Deere 4100 with a rear mount rotary cutter. I don't remember the size of the cutter, but the poor little 4100 was overwhelmed. I think the PTO horsepower is something like 16 or 17 HP.
That's probably enough to run a mid mount mower, but that's about it. It just isn't big enough to do much else.

I'm glad you got it repaired. No, I wouldn't know the torque of those nuts, I would just snug them up good and keep an eye on them that they don't wiggle a bit when you steer the tractor. Long as they don't move in the hole they shouldn't wear the hole in the stering arm.<br>

I used to hand wash till the car washes came along. the first ones weren't as good as some now are, you still had to hand wash the bugs off the front.
We have a favorite one now that the owner just overhauled the fluid system, it takes every bug off the front, I couldn't hardly believe it. I don't know if he uses a different soap now or just turned up the pressure. The Mrs. usually does it when she does a grocery run. She said it costs a buck more now, eight dollars I think she said for the wax and all. I used to take the power washer to the under sides of the fenders but have been getting lazy about that lately.

I'm not up to speed, (no pun intended), with CVT's in autos, but am somewhat familliar with them in farm tractors.
A true CVT has no set ratios like four speeds, six speeds, etc, the CV stands for constantly variable just like a hydrostat only it has a true mechanical connection instead of a fluid connection like a hydro. The Fendt Co. has had a CVT for years and others, including Deere that I'm familliar with have jumped on the band wagon. A few years ago I drove a 7000 series Deere with a CVT under load at a field demo. There were all sorts of situations you could set it to automaticly compensate for like max pull, max fuel economy, and I'm sure others that I don't remember now. OK, now I had the same feeling as you did with your brother's car, it was a dull thing to drive, there just wasn't much for the driver to do only steer, and now of course the GPS has taken over most of the steering in the latest tractors. My brother in law drove a GPS Deere for a neighbor doing fall tillage, I don't know if it was CVT, but he said the GPS made it a really boring thing to drive.
They ramble on and on about the effeciency of the six speed automatics, etc., I'd love to have a six speed manual in something just for the "fun" of driving it.

People are easily led.
For example my own Father, RIP, was taken on a scam sending money to unheard of east coast missions to feed and cloth the poor. This was after my Mother had died, these people once they know they have a live one would call and talk with Dad for an hour or more almost every evening. Dad was of course lonely after Mom had died so he was caught up with a seemingly friendly voice that would listen and pass the time a bit for him. Thankfully I discovered what was going on before it got really out of hand and convinced him to put his checkbook away and hang up.
On this mornings local TV news a lady has lost 70K to some foreign lottery scheme before she or someone in her family caught on and contacted the police and got it stopped, but the 70K is gone.
A lot of the "Super Smart People" who offer to sell you a book on how they bacame rich I think is nothing more than them becoming rich selling you a book.

I've had a little Deere pull behind, it holds about two bags, it is pretty much all plastic so it has held together plus I try to always rinse it as soon as I'm done. The concern I have had about a three point is like was said the weight on the little Kubota plus my bigger concern is that a tractor is something we normally don't replace very often so the fact that fertilizer is so corrosive that even small amounts that would get on the tractor might start some rust problems.

I happned to run across a show on the Speed channel called "Dumbest stuff on Wheels". I find it hard to believe that anyone for the reward of a few seconds of fame on the TV would purposely do some of the stunts they show. Maybe the Undertakers Union secretly sponsors that show.
Judge Judy, Dr.Phil, and others in that category of scripted garbage to fill in an afternoon of blank TV screens. Nobody, but NOBODY could be desparate enough to take what ever they are paid to spill their guts on those shows for all the world to see and have it be for real.

I don't think you should screw the adjusting valve completely out. I don't know this for sure but there may be a ball and/or spring that may come out too. I don't think you want that to happen. Just turn it out a couple turns then try it, if that don't help, a couple more turns, that should be plenty.

Any that I have been exposed to screw out to speed up the drop, that may not be so with your tractor it may screw in, but I'd really doubt it. Try a couple turns both directions.

I doubt you ruined anything. You still have air somewhere in the system. Start from the tank, to get fuel flow to the filters, then flow out of the filters, etc. Then crack the injector lines at the injector end and crank the engine till you get fuel without bubbles. Tighten the injector lines and it should start.
I don't have a Belerus, but 99% of all diesel engines work the same.

I have several Milwaukee corded tools that have been top notch. I would have no problem buying a Milwaukee battery tool.
I don't know who builds John Deere branded power tools, I've got several of their 18 volt offerings that are getting old too, but still work fine except for one failed battery. They are getting a bit dated now because of others that weigh a lot less and have the same abilitys.
My Milwaukee Sawzall, and two or three angle head corded drills are all old enough to draw a pension, but have never failed me, yet anyway.

I've worked on lots of old Farmalls, mostly H and M series, but never had any dealings with stroker kits and that sort of hot rod equipment. I think your two thousand bucks would dissapear quicker a rat at a tom cat convention, and you would only be getting started.<br>

The bright orange looks almost identical to a bright orange Ford Pinto wagon I bought once for the kids to drive to school. If my memory serves me right, 4K out the door new. Wasn't a bad little car till a storm dropped a big maple tree on it before it was a year old. The insurance fixed it but it drove kinda kitty wampus plus leaked dust on a dry day and water on a rainy day.

Sherwin williams has a good website, an E-Mail address, and an 800 number to ask questions. I think it is called Askminwax.com. I have called them on finishing problems for furniture and gotten good prompt answers.
