Cats? Yes, how many do you want?
We seem to have an endless supply of cats, some are born, some run off, some just always hang around.
They do a pretty good job of keeping the shop and sheds rodent free, but they DON'T get in the house!!!!

Just a couple more thoughts about your tractor.
The five digit number is the serial number. The four digit number 1815 is the high idle engine speed.
You asked about a value, the reason I mentioned salvage is the condition of the tires. Used tires are just all but non existent, they have all been used up.
A new set of four tires, tubes, and mounting would shock you. I priced a set of four for an "H" Farmall, almost the same size as for a C a couple years ago and 1,300.00 rings in my mind.

Art is right,I've moved ring gears on older tractors with bad spots. On the old H and M Farmalls with four cylinder engines just move the ring gear a quarter turn from where it is on the flywheel, if someone ahead of you hasn't already did it. Then a new ring gear is needed.
I'm prertty sure a MF 1030 is a six cylinder engine, I don't remember turning a ring gear on a six cylinder so I'm not sure how far you would turn it, I'd just mark where it is on the flywheel then turn it far enough to get good teeth there.

My understanding of engine size compared to the generator size.
When I bought my PTO powered generator the dealer highly recomended buying a generator that is too big for the tractor rather than the other way around. His reasoning was having a tractor was too big for the generator posed a greater danger of burning out the generator during a constant overload situation.
My generator is a Winco 47,000 watt 3phase/single phase unit that requires a 105 hp. tractor to operate the generator at full load. Right now I don't have a tractor that big but I'm shoping.
So far as proper RPM, mine has a guage on the side of the generator with a white area and a green area, tha owners manual says to keep the RPM's in the green area which is about a 250 RPM spread on the tractor tachomter.

The only brand I know anything about is Winco, but it is PTO powered not engine powered. Mine is probably five years old and has never failed so far anyhow.
The dealer who sold it to me said that generators should be used under load a couple times a year even if there is no emergency, just to keep the moisture out of things.

I bought a new pickup a rew years ago, it came equiped with the off road type tires, lots bigger and more agressive lugs tha a regular snow tire. I had the dealer change them to an all season tire. Both our houses are fairly close to hard surface roads, when those pickups with the big deep lug tires go past you can hear the tires roar for half a mile, I don't think regular snow tires make all that noise.

Just some quick figuring in my head.
My generator is approximately 180ft. from the transfer switch. Being this is my first experience witha good sized generator I don't have anything to compare it to.
We have six breakers in the transfer switch to handle the basics, water, heat, freezer, fridge, a few lights, and a few outlets for a coffee pot or fry pan.
The next size bigger box had twelve breakers and was quie a bit more money. The generator would have handled the bigger box, it is 47,000 watts, yes 47,000, not 4,700, but we saw no need for twelve functions for a few days at the most.

We take the pickup and car to the dealership where we bought them new for every service item, so I'm sure they have all that stuff in their computer recorda.
The tractors, mowers, Gator, any major farm or major shop equipment is recorded on the wall in the shop between two studs with a black marker pen. That's how my Father did it so like Father like son, I guess.

I still have the steel frame for mine that fit the old International Harvester two point fast hitch. I had an IHC 350 utility two wheel drive that was all but helpless with a loader and much of anything in the bucket. My Uncle bought the tractor new in 1956, then I bought it at his farm sale in the late 70's, it spent it's entire life with the loader on it. The tractor had the fast hitch, it functioned the same as a three point of today except it used two prongs that fit into two sockets on the tractor, there was no top link.
Anyhow the carry all had a plank floor with some probably six inch sideboards on the ends two twelve inch planks on the front and no sideboard on the rear. the old carry all spent its entire life on the 350 with some big rocks and anything else that had any weight to it to give the tractor a bit more traction with the loader. Finally the plank floor rotted out and I never bothered to repair it, we don't have any tractors with the two poiont hitch anymore.
As was suggested I think I'd use a sheet of 3/4 inch treated plywood for the floor instead of planks.
Building it too heavy wil make a partiasl load for the tractor with nothinhg on the carry all.

The slime crap is best left in the can. I had some injected into a front lawnmower tire once, the tire shop all but refused to work on it. I didn't blame them it was a mess. I've put tubes in several small tires that were constant trouble and had good results.

I've saw those suction things, but never used ine.
I guess one way to know if it got the lions share of the old oil out would be to measure the amount of old oil it sucked out.
An example might be if the engine W/Filter holds five quarts and the dipstick shows full plus some estimate of how much old oil is in the used filter. So on with the story, if the old filter held a pint and you measured a bit over four quarts of used oil the tube sucked out you would be pretty close to getting it all out.

Another solution would be if you were driving cars like some of my ultra low budget cars I had in the past, just turn the car upside down till the used oil came out the fill hole.

I had to think about it a while but here goes.

1 - Regular maintnence, filters, oil, brake, clutch adjustments.
2 - Thermostats, most guys like me tend to lt them go too long.
3 - Heater, Air conditioner blowers, door and window seals, etc.
4 - Bateries and cables. Once in a while I get lucky with batteries tho. 4310 needed one at eleven years. We have two identical 345 Deere lawn tractors one is a 99 and the other is a 2000 model, both have original batteries, but have had cables replaced.
5 - Tires, dependes onnthe use some last 5 - 6 years some last 15 -20 yrs.
6 - Misc wiring problems, corroded terminals, broken wires, failed switches, etc.
7 - Again depending on use engine and hydraulics may last 5000 hrs without an overhgaul and some may last 12 -14000 hrs. before major money is spent.
8 - Paint and decals, Ive saw tractors 25 yrs. old that look practacaly new, they were kept clean, waxed and shedded out of the sun.

I would be surprised if Iowa went Democratic again, but I am far far from bing a political expert.

Both Obama and Romney seem to be so far out of the common peoples class that we seem to be voting more for a king than a president.

Most all of us with even a hint of gray hair know that neither one of the candidates can or will do 99% of the things they are promising.

I did learn one thing about Romney this past week, his real first name is Willard, I had seriously wondered if his parents named him Mit.

Not too long ago on the History or weather channel, I don't remember which for sure but they had a series of shows called "It could happen tomorrow". One of them was about a hurricane going up the east coast to New York, the real thing seems to be turning out just about as they had it predicted on that show.
The local news this morning told how many crews from Iowa were on their way to help out, Red Cross, crews and utility crews. I'm sure they are coming from all over to help out.
Thbe Iowa tornados can be bad but at least they are over in five minutes.

I may be mistakn, but I think what you guys call a dirt scoop we called a tumble Bug.
I probably wasn't old enough to even be driving a tractor at the time but I remember driving an H Farmall pulling the scraper with a long chain attatched to this Tumble bug. My Uncle was digging a basement for a house in sort of a sidehill. I would pull the scraper forward with my Uncle hanging onto the two handles of this scraper, then when it was full and outside of where the basement was to be he tipped it over forward to dump it, then he dragged it back whle I backed the H up.
I have driven past the house for which we dug the basement in later years and the house is still there. It looks like the soil we were digging was pretty sandy which would have dug easier than black dirt or clay, but still pretty close to slave labor that my uncle was doing, plus he was trusting me at probably seven or eight years old not to back over him. I thought about it after I drove past that how he would have enjoyed using my Baby Deere with the box scraper to do what we did.

I test drove an 1155 as a new demonsrator sometime in the mid seventies.
I remember it being a comfortable tractor except for the cab noise, at full throttle it was a bit overwheming and that we without a load, just high idle. I ended up buying a Case 1370.
There aren't many Masseys around close mainly for a lack of dealers, I can only think of twqo in the northeast corner of Iowa.
I don't remember hearing anything bad about an 1155, you know how bad news travels twice as fast as good news.
I don't think any of the major manufacturers use a V-8 engine anymore. Massey, Deere and International Harvester all had a short run with V-8's.
