The first true power shift type tractor I ever drove was a Ford Selectospeed backhoe, in the early 70's, way too long ago to remember the model number. It belonged to a friend who I used to help a bit on a part time basis, digging anything from stumps to water lines.
They must have been a pretty tough transmission, it led a hard life and never gave out while he owned it.

I won't attempt to name the exact things they are targeting, whether it be insects or disease, or perhaps both but we see lots of alfalfa being sprayed during the growing season here.
Almost all hay crops here are planted with a cover crop, oats are the main one, very little direct seeding, I've saw that done but a lot of managment is called for. Weeds are the big culprit of dierect seeding, oats tend to choke them out till the legumes get started. I haven't kept up enough to know if they have developed a roundup ready alfala, that would help a lot for direct seeding.

We used to use dressing on flat belts but never have on a "V" belt.
Silly as it may sound I have put a few drops of oil on a "V" belt to quiet them down. Never noticed that they slipped with some oil, be a bit conservative with the oil tho,

So long as the rims are meant to reverse, meaning that the lug bolts will seat correctly in the rim holes etc. If there are no clearance issues with the valve stem any amount of added wheel track width will add to the stability.<br>
I'm not familiar with your tractor but if you have or intend to have a front end loader the more stability you can add the better.<br>

Whatever you do don't give up your 4 WD in trade for a 2 WD. Eventually you will want a front end loader, a 2 WD can be miserable to operate with a loader.<br>

I think you are on the right track by just operating it to loosen things up but I would check the fluid right after you have operated it for a while. Being the machine sat in the weeds for three years I'd bet the fluid is going to look milky right after you shut it off from a run long enough to warm things up meaning it has water mixed in it. Change the fluid to get the water and crud flushed out.
No doubt you are going to find the same situation with the engine oil, you should drain the old oil and replace it.

Most likely he could swing the bucket around to the side of the machine and push it against the ground to lift one track at a time off the ground. I really don't know how much resitance a properly tensioned track should have to run.
I think the tracks would be powered by hydraulic motors from the main hydraulic pump so possibly a hose is kinked or a line has been mashed from something like runing over a rock that has the flow restricted to the point of making heat from mthe excess pressure.

Maybe you need to get out more to see what else is available.
My Deere 430 loader came with quick attach buckets at no extra charge, the QA is just part of the system.
I've got a regular bucket, a set of forks, and a clam bucket. Between the regular bucket and the forks it takes me longet to get off the tractor and back on to remove and replace the lynch pins than it does to change buckets. The clam takes a bit longet because of hooking up two hydraulic hoses to the clam cylinders.
The only thing I ever saw simpler was a Deere one arm lift outfit that had electric pins that you operated from the cab, you never got out of the cab to change to different attachments.

Yes, I can explain how the basics of a diesel or gasoline engine operate and what is required to make them run. No matter the brand they all work on the same basic principles. The same with transmissions, hydro or gear, they all work on the same principle regardless of brand.<br>

Those aren't the things that throw me, it is the control of those things, the electronics, etc. have replaced levers and knobs with push botton controls. I can fix or explain most things that are still controled with a lever and linkages, but when a computer controls the engine timing, tells the transmission when to shift, etc. I hit a brick wall with any brand.<br>

Questions like, "My XXX Brand Tractor won't start" with few or no other details, I'll help if I can but I need more than that to do the poster much good.<br>

I'm sorta like that fly that won't leave you alone when you are trying to get that after lunch nap in, I'll always be around, so long as God lets me be anyhow.<br>

I don't have any exprience with any wind turbines. My first thoughts about the Northern tool unit are that it seems a bit complicated to me by dealing with multiple voltages that I assume will change automacly. Does it mean your whole house/all needs, would have to be converted to 12 volt plus have a transformer to reduce line power to 12 volt too?
I wouldn't tackle this without talking to at least a couple other people who have bought this unit.

You should use the fixed position for all of those impliments.
Anything that is PTO driven off the tractor should have the drawbar in it's fixed position, leaving it swing would put the PTO shaft into some nasty sharp angles that likely would cause a failure of the shaft.
Using a drawbar in a swinging position is rarely used anymore. The swinging position was used to make turning on the ends of a field easier before modern hydraulics were used to lift impliments on the ends to allow easier turns.

I got the seal and the tube of sealant at a Deere Dealer parts counter. It wasn't a seal kit, just the individual parts.
If the innards are the same as mine you will need a good snap ring pliers. There is a stiff snap ring that holds the bearings, the drive gear, and a spacer on the shaft. This assembly has to come apart to get the shaft out of the housing where the outer seal is located. If you are anything like me the snap ring may go "KaZing" and be lost forever, so it might not hurt to get a spare when you get the new seal.
As I said before the old seal looked like new, there was no play in the bearings, but replacing the seal fixed it.

I've never owned either brand, but it get's me to wondering a bit.
I don't know how long Kubota has been producing tractors, but if I'm following the brand train cprrectly the old Ford tractor company is one of the parent companies of today's New Holland tractors. The New Hoilland compacts seem to have had more than their share of frame problems and yet there are a zillion old Ford 8N's, and 9N's that just seem to never die. Was there no quality influence that was carried on into the New Hollands from Ford that seem to be haunted with the frame problems.
Before I bought my first Deere compact I did give the Boomers a good look baseing my judgment on the reputation of the old Fords. One of our neighbors farmed with Fords his whole life, 8N's and the 7000 series, he never seemed to have any major problems.

I "Think" TLB stands for Tractor-Loader-Backhoe, but I've been wrong before too.
Before I bought the Little Deere hoe I did go used backhoe shopping. I'll admit to not being an expert used backhoe inspector, but when most of the low dollar machines were sitting in a puddle of hydraulic fluid so they turned me away.

Finally some rain and cooler temps here yesterday.

The rain was a bit spotty, not a general rain, but most of eastern Iowa got some. We had an inch and six tenths in about a half hour, I don't think a drop ran off.
The corn that hadn't shut down will probably benfit some. The soybeans and pasture/hay ground will benefit the most.

I've read the manual but also forgotten right now about the cap sitting on the threads or screwed in to check the fluids. I screw them in then get the reading. Some like the engine oil dipstick don't screw in so I just bottom it and recheck the level.
My Deere is a 4310, pretty much the same as your tractor. All the fluids except the engine oil call for HyGard Lo
vis, so I'm guessing yours is the same.

I wouldn't pay any premium for the Belarus, I haven't saw a dealer or a Belarus tractor for that matter for a long time. Like was said no matter the brand you will need parts sooner or later and you may be stuck with a parts orphan.
You will pay more to start with for a popular brand but will have a source of parts and something of value come trade in time.

I have sort of a ritual that I run thru every morning checking web sites that I chat with others on. TP was the first site that I actively corresponded with others on.<br>

Our oldest son spends a good deal of his day on the phone talking with his customers most of whom he has never met in person. I asked him once about meeting some of his customers in person that he has talked with on the phone for years if these people looked like he thought they would. He said that for the most part no, they looked entirely different than he thought they would. <br>

Well anyhow no matter what any of you look like it sure has been a great ten years for me. So for as long as I am able to click the keys on the keyboard I'm looking forward to as many more as the man upstairs allows me to be around here.<br>

Some of the newer technoligys and brands that have gotten ahead of me don't give me much to comment on, I'll have to rely on our younger members to help me out with that but the older things I will continue to try to help out with.<br>

I haven't heard the term "Hydrostartic bypass rod", but I'm guessing that is the disconnect for towing the tractor. Are you sure the disconnect rod caused the leak?
You say the tractor is slow, so I'm guessing it is really low on fluid so I wouldn't use the tractor till the transmission is back to the full level.
If you have an owner's manual it will show you where to fill the transmission, what type of fluid, any filters to change, etc., other wise perhaps a member here who has a tractor like yours can tell you how and where.
