I don't mean to be a smart axx when i say this, but put the doors on.
Any off road cabs I've dealt with from the most crude back in the 1960's till the present aren't meant to be used without the doors. Dust just seems to want to get inside, in the upholstery, dash instruments, etc, without the doors or windows. I know they can be hot, the later model ones with lots of glasss are really hot unless you have an AC unit.

I never wanted to retire, I'm 70 now, but an injury at 64 forced me to slow down. I've got friends who act like a giant weight was lifted off their shoulders when they retired, now they sit around down south somewhere doing nothing.
I tried golf, a bit of travel, went down south for a while, couldn't stand it, I had to get home to do something. The Mrs. don't like to travel, she is happy staying home reading and tending flowers.
My Father lived to be 95 and never missed a day at the shop till he was 90.
Long as I'm able I want to continue doing something productive.

I have the opposite problem with my 4310 Deere, just a bit smaller but basicly identical to your 4400. I've replaced everything I can think of still needle barely comes off the bottom.
Does your fuel guage work? Mine hasn't for years, all this makes me think the there is an electrical malfunction that haunts the 4000 series guages.

Thanks for the respone on the transission "rattle" issue. yes, I have heard a bit of a rattle when in C-4 but never paid much attention, is it a death rattle or just a normal rattle?
I think the 300 loaders are just a newer model loader than the 430. I've walked past them at a dealer lot but never stopped to look at one. The 300 series would have to go a bit to be better than the 430's, I've never had any loader problems with probably 650 hours of the tractors 750 hours devoted to loader work. I've never had the loader off the tractor, I use it almost every day for something. I do drop the bucket to do bush hogging, roto tilling, etc..
I've never heard anything bad about a 300 series loader so I wouldn't let that be a deal killer.
I'm guessing a bit here but I think the issue of the forward reverse lever going back to neutral is a safety factor. Mine has always did that too if I hold the clutch pedal down for more than just a second or so.

Perhaps I should explain a bit better what I'm doing.
Think of a basement that has been dug but not had the cement walls poured yet. This is what I've ended up with after taking soil from it for a few years when the need arose starting with no hole at all just level ground. Without using a tapemeasure I'm guessing the dimensions to be like 30 X 50 X 4 - 6 ft. deep. there is a ramp like entrance to the pit on the shallow corner where I take the soil out a bucketfull at a time. My attempt is to keep the "Floor" of the pit somewhat level so I take soil from a wall of the pit down to "Floor" level. When we've had adequate rain the bucket edge will dig into the wall well enough to scoop out a bucketfull with one lift. Now with the soil really dry the bucket edge is just too hard to push into the wall but using the forks to loosen it makes things go lots easier for the loader to scoop it up and haul it out.
OK now EW if I'd go a bit deeper I could bury two modern school busses or four of my kind of busses your choice. Cheap as used school busses are this may be an alternate to building a 500K house.

Someone here on nthe board bought a reverse tine tiller last spring. I've wondered how it worked out. I almost bought one a few years ago but ened up buying a conventional front rotating machine.<br>

Like was said all states have different rules and regulations on such things.
I wasn't involved but I did know the outcome of this situation.
Party # 1 owned some farmland that was landlocked on three sides by Party # 2 and on the fourth side by a river
For years Party # 1 on a friendly basis had driven across Party #2 to farm the landlocked land.
Party # 1 dies, his estate sells the farmland to another person whom Party #2 didn't like. Party #2 puts up a fence and gate with no trespassing signs. Court found in favor of the new owner to cross the property of Party 2.
Right or wrong, I don't know, but just an example of what can happen.

I'm not sure that all control valves are rebuildable. Maybe check your local yellow pages for hydraulic repair shops, if it is repairable they either will have the parts or have a way to get them.
Another possibility would be to click up "The Surplus Center" on the internet. They have a huge assortment of new valves that may match your need, sometimes a new valve costs less than repairing an old one.

We had one for several years, I have no memory of the brand name, but it did work well to pick up rocks from football size to maybe 20 inches in the longest dimension. It had a "Basket" on the back that held quite a load before you needed to hydraulicly dump it.
Ours was a smaller size, it required about a 60 - 70 HP tractor with two remote hydraulic circuts.
It worked best when the rocks were free standing above the soil, but could with a bit of operator practice bring some half buried ones up.
We bought ours used probably 25 years ago so I don't remember a cost, but as heavily built as they are and steel prices what they are I'm sure they are quite expensive by now.
I'm sure that most any full line farm equipment dealer could get you the information on one.

We had an HPX till the XUV came out with fuel injection. It seems that every company that's been around a while has built a model of this or that which wasn't a demonstration of their best engeneering. Ours was always a pain to get started when cold and there didn't seem to be any fix for the problem.
I was ready to trade the HPX for any color other than green but the dealer asked me to try the fuel injected XUV. I did demo it, liked it and traded. I'm not sure what year that was but the XUV's were new, I think I bought the first one from the dealership. So far it has never failed to start and keep running cold or hot.
The gas in the oil thing, I'd never heard of the problem till after the XUV's had been around a while. So far we haven't had the problem with any Gator, but perhaps I change the engine oil too often to have any gas buildup. Whatever the oil change interval is shown in an owners manual for any small engine I cut it in half for example a 100 hour interval in the book I change at 50 hrs.

Yes, of course it's a scam.
Those guys never give up.
Mid mount decks are an expensive type mower.
$2,900. might buy a deck but by the time you get all the bracket and drive packages to fit a particular tractor you better have another grand or more to go along with the 2,900.

Even with a fence it's not unusual to find old washing machines, kitchen stoves, matresses, etc., and just plain garbage in the county gravel road ditches outside the fence.
Some of the garbage dumpers weren't real brilliant, they put their old magazines with the address labels still attached in the garbage bags. They got to clean up the ditch and pay the littering fine both.

The others covered things real well so all I'll add is to use the fluids and filters the manual recommends. I have no idea if Yanmar has their own brand of fluids and filters, but if they do use them.

Yes, I have a "48" H with the vertical shaft distributor, I think they were Delco-Remy. I'm quite a ways from the farm right now so I can't go out to check the brand for sure. Other than a few magneto Framalls I had all the rest were the IH horizontal distributor. The "48" H was my fathers tractor, he didn't buy it new, probably bought it in about 50 or 51, so I don't know the complete histor, but It's had the Delco-remy for as long as I remember.
There may have been some "C's" with it, I don't know, mine didn't have it, it was a conventional IH distributor.
Last I knew points, condensers, etc. were still available at CaseIH. They did have a distinct advantage when it came to replacing the points. Both points are on one easialy installed base that is much easier to install then the IH points. Adjusting them is fifty times simpler than the IH brand, a screwdriver in one hand the feeler guage in the other hand, a ten second operation.

I have no Idea if this is still true, but several years ago a salesperson at a quite high volume compact dealership said they discounted the value of a compact trade in for having turf tires. Nobody in our area other than a school or city park with a 90% mowing situation wanted them. I haven't paid much attention lately to what's on their lot.
Every tread type has it's good and bad points. I'm on my third compact with R-4's, they're not perfect in every situation but would get the same if I traded tractors.

I have no idea how many Gators there are in comparison to other brands. The density of any brand of anything normally follows the strengh of a local dealership.
So far I haven't had any of the 620i issues of gas in the oil or the front differential issues, my number may be up next, but so far so good.
Fresh out of the box I did have an annoying rattle mainly when the engine was just above slow idle. It took a bit to find it tho, turned out to be nothing but a washer under a cotter key in the parking brake linkage that would rattle.

I don't want to take sides here to start an argument but I'll have to agree they dont "All" do it. With enough use and normal wear yes then they all will. Whether it is enough to be a problem is up to the judgement owner.
My 430 loader boom or the bucket curl on the 4310 Deere doesn't settle.
Anytime something else isn't on the three point my box blade is, I have a bad habit of leaving it up. I think it could sit for six months and never settle.
My Deere No. 48 backhoe attachment is a different story. It goes on the same tractor but has it's own set of hydraulic valves. The boom has settled since day one, warm day, cold day, full bucket, empty bucket, it don't matter. While using it it isn't enough to even notice, but leave it sit with the boom up and it goes all the way down in probably ten minutes. I don't know if the others do it or not, I just never bothered to see what was wrong.
