A case in point;
Any Deere dealersahip I've been in this spring and summer no longer has a display of the Deere branded adult lawn toys like string trimmers, leaf blowers, etc., everything along that line is now Stihl.
Not fact, but "rumor" has it that big daddy Deere made a deal with Stihl to have their dealerships stock a given amount of Stihl products, how much display space they had to devote along with a reqirement of just how many parts the dealers had to stock, etc., whether the dealer liked it or not.
The fact does remain that the only chainsaw I've ever owned that always starts on tbhe second pull is a Stihl, so likely they are a good product. The point does remain that dealers don't seem to have the freedom to manage their business as they may like to anymore.

Education, yes the more the better. I'm not sure of their status at the present time, but some form of laws have recently been passed here in Iowa prohibiting drivers younger than 21, (I think) from texting or talking on a cell phone while driving. They are probably much more capable of doing that than older people.
Our farm is on a heavily traveled two lane road used by a lot of people driving to the city and back to work daily. It's interesting that when the 4-H kids pick up the trash in the ditches about twice a year the get about ten times as many beer cans on the coming home from work side.
So do texting laws and drunk driving laws educate anyone, I don't know probably not. Will a 55/65 speed limit with mean it type fines get people to obey them, likely not.
As I said a while back, if I'm wrong them I'm wrong, but these are just my opinions.

I've never owned a 6 X 4 but I'm sure the two rear wheels are driven by a roller chain from the powered axle in front of them, perhaps the chains have become loose enough that they are jumping on the sprockets.

The commercial mower my cousin bought cheap and rebuilt is a front deck rider. I don't remember what brand it is but it has a neat feature. The deck folds up hydraulicly to a vertical position for service and blade changes. I don't know if that was a part of the mower originally or knowing him he likely engeneered and built that part himself.

When you consider the cost of the tractor compared to the difference saved between the Super UDT and a replacement fluid it's pretty small. I grump a bit too when I buy the Deere branded fluids and filters.

Since I was a litle kid I have wanted to visit Hood River, but likely won't ever get it done due to some physical limitations now.
My Mother had an Aunt Eva, I do remember that much but no memory of her last name, from Hood River. She came to Iowa to spend the summer with us in 1946 or 47 when I was probably 6 or 7, she never stopped telling about all the wonderfull things in Hood River. I don't remember if she liked Iowa or not, I never saw her again, so maybe she didn't like Iowa.

OK, cleaning drain hoses;
First of all don't wear your Sunday clothes, you're gonna be a mess when you're done.
Compressed air sometimes works by holding a nozzel in the bottom of the tube and sorta sealing it off with your hand till you see or hear it coming out the top, then flushing them with water to further clean them out.
I have had to remove the hoses to get them out where they were easier to work on by running a wire or sometning thru first. The nipples where the hoses connect to the drain pan will be clogged too so clean them too.
Keeping a clean well sealed filter is the best way to prevent this from happening. I've had older tractors where other seals beyond the filter were bad which lets in dirty air too, or cracks in the plastic housing surounding the coil so look it over good, duct tape is your best friend on some of the older leaking sysrtems.

EW: This was a long time ago but my memory of the hand pumper system is that it was a manifold type, not a seperate plunger for each hose, and so my question of the most resistant bearing/or longest hose getting it's equal share.
Perhaps Art can sharpen my memory a bit, I'm sure he dealt with them too.

Something we've been doing for a couple years that seems to work.
If you don't mind the smell of Maragolds, we been planting some in and around the garden for a couple years and the deer haven't bothered it, before that it was like "free lunch".
A neighbor lady who is quite a gardener told us about it and it does seem to work.

Thanks Murf; I've learned a lot here today but I'm not sure I can retain that much information all in one day.
I'll spread the next batch just to be on the safe side.
I have a friend who claims to know more about a horse than the guy who invented them. He says that fresh grass clippings will kill a horse. I won't argue with him as I know less than nothing about a horse.
Anybody else here old enough to remember Mr. Ed, the talking horse? We could ask him I guess.

Sorry about the confusing statement.
If I hadn't slept thru english class perhaps I could do better.
I should have said, I have "seen" box blades that could carry the dirt with them but they were pull type machines. Most likely because as you said a three point box blade that could carry a box of dirt would be too heavy.

I'm not up on New Hollands, but I think most every domestic compact tractor uses hydraulic pressure to keep the clutch engaged, then lets the pressure collapse when you turn it off. Makes me wonder if you aren't getting enough pressure to the clutch, maybe a clogged hydraulic filter or a weak pump. I'd sure have it checked before something expensive gets buggered up inside.

I don't have an owners manual for that model, but my first guess would be Deere brand HYGard LoVis. Every Deere lawn toy we have from the mowers, Gator, Compact tractors, calls for that in the transmission and hydraulic systems.

I just read in one of the farm magazines new product section a breif item about the newest Gators.<br>
They have an electric model that will run all day on an overnight charge. There has already been an electric one that I know nothing about, maybe this one goes longer or something.<br>
Judging by the picture the bed of the box looks to be even higher than my XUV. The original 4 X 2 we had the bed was down where it was easy to load but they had no rear suspension either. Last thing I need is a higher bed to load.

I remember reading somewhere about yout winds off lake Michigan were ideal for the big generator windmills till some seagull lover group got them put on hold because too many gulls were flying into the blades and getting killed. Just wondered if they ever got that resolved.

I don't know the rating of my trailer but it is a single axle with five bolt 15 in. wheels using like 1/2 ton pickup tires. We haul the XUV quite a bit with it. no problems so far.

I'm not familliar with your tractor, but I assume the housing is either cast iron or cast aluminum. If the cracks are accessable with a welder then perhaps it can be repaired. Both can be welded, but it takes a better welder than me to do aluminuim. Frank.

KT; The new Gator that is supposed to go 40-45 MPH has me wondering if the insurance companys will now call all
Gators a sport machine rather than a farm machine? I think my XUV insurance cost is somewhere in the 60-70 dollar per year range for full coverage.
I think mine goes like 25-30 on the road, that's plenty fast.
