My guess is that your pulleys are gummed up with dirt to the point that the sliding half of the pulleys aren't slideing in to meet the belt. That's about the only way the belt could be loose enough to come off the pulley.
Try lubing the pulleys with some WD 40 where the little triangular holes are around the sliding half of the pulley and on the hub of the pulleys where the sliding half moves in and out. Be more than generous with the WD 40 to flush the gum and grit out.
If the pulley system and belt are original equipment a new belt wouldn't hurt and if things still don't work probably a replacement of the cams inside the poulleys along with the new belt.

OK, guess I was wrong. I thought politicaly correct meant that every politician thought he or her were correct about any subject.

Few days ago someone on the radio said that all politicans will now be required to wear NASCAR type jump suits so that it will be clear who their corporate sponsors are.

EW, I only take cash being I'm considring a career in politics, not easily traced you know. There are still a few spaces left at the Platnum level.

Being it work properly after the new pump was installed and now everything else works except the three point I would suggest checking the linkage from the three point control lever to the three point valve. Perhaps the lever isn't moving the valve to it's maximum stroke needed for full function.

"Serviceable Life", We have in the past produced things that have a serviceable life of many times beyond the seven year span that EW speaks of. For example my father's 1948 Farmall "H". He bought it used in 1953 needing an engine overhaul. What took it down so soon, I don't know but he had it overhauled in 1954, then it was used almost daily till he retired in 1970 as a "Chore" tractor. I bought it on his farm auction and have owned it since. The "H" is still running on the 1954 overhaul, it does use some oil now and is beginning to start harder, likely due to poor compression. Those old tractors didn't have hour meters so I have no idea how many hours it has ran. Dad was a stickler on maintence and probably changed the oil twice as often as was really necessary. I used it almost daily also as a chore tactor till we retired in 2005.
I haven't checked lately but far as I know most internal parts are still available from Case-IH. A few years ago I got everything I needed to do an engine overhaul on my 1948 Farmall Cub fron a Case-IH dealer.
Yes, EW I'm trying to improve my image, since I've tried most everything else to make a living I was thinking of a political caree as my sunset career. Would you like to be on the top of the list as a financial supporter?

KW is on the right track, grounding is usualy the culprit when a tractor gets about that age.

If there are any numbers on the old belt or if it is still in one piece go to a NAPA type store they can usually come up with what you need.
I'm not sure if ArtsWay is still in business or if they may have been absorbed by another company. Likely a farm implement dealer can line you up with them.

Yes, a pretty neat group here, curtious common sense replies are commonplace 99.9% of the time. I've asked for advice on everything from electric welders to snow tires and always got good advice.
Dennis has done a fine job of sorting out the occasional caustic poster, something that I don't see on many other sites. Posters will get to arguing over mostly Mickey Mouse things and get downright nasty name calling run it into the ground threads. I just don't post on them.

I agree with all that has been said and do appreciate what those whom have served and died did for the rest of us.
The gun control anti war folks act out of emotion rather than common sense and they are usually the first to cry for help when something disturbs their comfort.

The HPX Gator I had was a manual shift type four wheel drive engagment, so it was a positive in or out situation. I have a 620i 4 X 4 with the rocker switch. I'm not 100% on this but I think the XUV's are an on demand type four wheel drive where the machine decides whether or not four wheel drive is needed when you have the rocker switch pushed to the 4X4 position. That may be your lack of hearing any servo type click when you push the switch, I've really never listened to see if there was a sound. Frank.

Monty; does the three point work OK now? I really don't know how hot you can get HY-Gard fluid before it breaks down, does it smell like burnt tranny fluid from a car? If everything works OK and the fluid smells burnt I'd change it but if it smells OK maybe not, youe choice. Frank.

I don't remember if it is the pulley on the engine or the one on the transmission but one of them has little triangle shaped holes three places around the hub that hold some cams to keep the pulley adjusted to the belt. Those can get dirt in them that cause them to hang up. try squirtiong some WD-40 type stuff in those triangle holes and the hub it's self where it slides in and out. this used to happen to a 4 X 2 I had.

I gotta agree with KT. We probably hgave four or five dead string timmers in the back of the shed that need to go to the junkyard. If anything has ever caused me some loss of reigion it has to be those #@%&*@@@ trimmers. Roundup is the gratest thing since canned beer.

The fuel filters on our Deere 345's always have an air pocket and really never look like they is enough gas in them to run on, but they run fine.

Just finished an hour ago mowing the second time with the bagger. I'm getting more used to dumping it now and the Mrs. likes the clippings for the garden and flowers. Now that someone mentioned it I do remember seeing a pull bhind deal with a seperate engine to help the blower on the mower get the clippings to the back of the box. Oh, and the Gator blades, I took the deck off the mower that had the Gators on it. the underside of the deck was packed with about an inch of the hardest crap I ever had to dig out of a deck. I never got a squirrel with them but I did once get a mole with a mower, he peeked out at the wrong time, poor fella.

I've got two 345's but no mountains, we're flatlanders here. In my conditions I couldn't ask for a more dependable machines. Deere has so many models of moweres that it seems no situation could go unanswered as far as as safety equipmwent or any other requirement. I know basicly nothing about Kubota moweres othere than they are orange. Having a good nearby dealer would likely be the best decision maker, as either brand will have what you need. Frank.

KT; I don't like to use my "Good" blades, (JD hi lift) for the walnuts, sticks, whatever else endes up on the lawn after winter, so I put the Gator's on and kinda have a good time seeing how far I can shoot the walnuts, etc. out of the deck. Frank.
