DRankin; Yes I carried in lots of wood for the kitchen range when I was a kid. Mother would use a few corncobs and some kerosene to get the wood going, the wood smelled good but the kerosene smell lingered a bit.
I haven't saw this thing, but a neighbor was telling me that he has a home made grill that uses an electric heater of some sort.

Low cost and good quality just never seem to go hand in hand no mater what the product.
Another point to me is when we already owe the Chinese government something over a trillion dollars why would we want to make them richer and our domestic manufacturers poorer? it seems to me that we are playing right into their hand with every dollar we send over ther for products we already produce here? Same reason I've never owned a non domestic car or pickup. Just my thoughts. Frank.

If you have a circut tester/Ohm meter/test light, anything that will show continuity, just start from where you have current to where it stops with the seat switches closed, that usually tells the tale. Enjoy your day. Frank.

I was going to add that there was someone in our neighborhood in the fiftys or sixtys that put one of those add on track systems on a Ford 8 or 9N. It had a set of common car tires about halfway between the front and rear tires of the tractor that the tracks ran over on their way around the rear tires. As I remember the thing in mud the poor little Ford was overwhelmed by the power that was consumed just running the tracks thru the mud so it didn't have any power left to pull an impliment. I don't know what ever became of them or who built them etc. Frank.

Perhaps a bit of research on what dealerships are most numerous in Newfoundland if the tractor is going to be there on a permanet basis. Both brands have a good parts and service systems. Best in wet grass, I doubt that one will be much better than the other.

I'm a bit of a rebel here when it comes to R-4's vs. Turf. I personally like the firm feel of the R-4's. The first compact I ever drove had turfs, it was stuck on wet grass, and in mud it was totally helpless. I'm on my third baby Deere with R-4's and wouldn't even consider turfs. Your dealer is right. I too stand corrected, I didn't realize the blower was included with the tractor. I priced a front mount blower for my 4310 once and if I remember correctly it was sorta high dollar. So probably not out of line.

I know very little other than the basics of electricity, but to answer your question on low speed operation of a PTO generator. I bought a 45KW PTO generator a couple years ago, the dealer instructed me me to always run the pto at 540 no mater what the load level, and always have the generator up to speed before kicking in any load. Mine is a Winco, it has a meter on the side with a green zone where I'm to run the pto speed to keep the needle in the green.

The part about the three point lowering then suddenly going back up makes me think of a control valve problem. I don't know what valve but perhaps a relief valve sticking then snapping shut???

I've did it both ways. I dug out about 10-12 8inches in a machine shed once but drainage wasn't an issue, this is by far the simpilest. Is you problem door in the end or the side of the building? I just raised the door header in the end of a building once to gain clearence but I had plenty of clearence inside, this might not be your case.

Auerbach has it covered pretty well. there are custom guys with grinders, but watch him do somebody elses stump before you hire him. There was a guy around the country a few years ago who had kind of a homemade grinder on the three point of an 806 or 1066 Farmall. No curtians, guards, shields etc., chips, rocks, dirt flew all over the place but he had a couple kids along who raked up all the mess before he left. I've never used the stuff, but somebody has a product that is supposed to help them rot away faster than normal if time isn't an issue. Frank.

If these are big one time stumps, you will need a tractor/ backhoe bigger than will be handy for the reat of your dutys. Perhaps hire the stumps done if they are big ones then buy a tractor in the 30-35 HP range for your daily needs. You may not even need a backhoe then, but a front end loader and a box blade will be your best investments far as attachments for almost daily use. Mowers, tillers, on and on your attachment list will grow as you need them. Enjoy your day. Frank.

John; I'm sure your owners manual will have a code chart. That will give you a starting point. Perhaps the first time you broke a corrosion barrier in a connecion when you unhooked and re hooked them. If that isn't helping I'd start with a meter going point to point from where there is power till you get to no power. Frank.

I'm not sure why but power plant fly ash is sometimes used around here. I've never took a good look at it but some say it hardens like concreet after it settles. Whether it is a cost factor compared to crushed linestone or what? Maybe you guys know the skinny.

I didn't intentionally leave Kuboat out, just was typing faster than I was thinking. Just as an example on parts availabilty for domestic brands I have two "H" Farmalls and a "Cub" Farmall, all over sixty years old that still have parts available thru Case/IH.
