Tom: I'd check with a Cub Cadet dealer, I'm sure they can order one thru parts. The local JD dealer keeps a library of used manuals for sale if he doean't have machine for sale to go with it, so that may be another possibility for you. Frank.

Mitch; If you plan to change the fluid at 100 hrs. I wouldn't worry about it. About all I've ever found in the strainer of a new tractor is a few metal chips and some small pieces of gasket thet didn't get completely flushed at the factory. We would likely be shocked to know how many screens that have never been cleaned. Frank.

Dennis; Is that thing for real or did somebody cut about three feet out of the middel? I happened to notice the insurance bill for our 07 Trailblazer that came the other day is the same as my 07 Silverado 415.00 each for 12 months full coverage.

Sure wish I had your cab for today, two below outside and snow to push, I guess the fresh air is good for us. I've had a 4 in 1 bucket on my 4310/430 loader for several years, it works great and seems to be pretty bulletproof for rocks, brush, rolls of old fence wire and other nasty stuff, and it does get the black paint scuffed up pretty quick. On our 345's I just put my finger under the blade switch when I back up and they keep running, it has gotten to be such a natural motion that I don't even realize I do it anymore. I did consider bypassing the switch but we have two grandkids, ( 11 and 13 ), who spend a lot of the summer with us and like to mow, so for that reason I leave all the safety switch3es hooked up. Nosteiner; You likely arent going to hurt anything (for a while) the newer hydros are pretty bulletproof, BUT. Trying to do everything in high range puts a tremendous amount of pressure on everything in ther hydro system to the point of bypass. Kinda compare it to you trying to roll a big rock up a hill to you rolling the same big rock downhill. Put it in low range and your tractor and checkbook will thank you someday down the road. Frank.

I don't remember who he was but some race car driver from the past used to sell STP on the TV ads. It probably worked fine in his race car when the oil temps were 300 degrees, but sit a can of it on your tractor seat than open it on a morning when it is below zero. I don't think you will put it in anything that has to move when cold. Frank.

Retcol; Far as I know Deere still assembles their compacts somewhere in Georgia and the lawn mowers are built in your state, Wisconsin, and maybe some in Dubuque, Iowa.

We really don't have a room long enough for the really big screen TV. Brother in law and one son have them but their living rooms are like 30 ft. long. Far as the HDTV, we are happy with what we have now so we are just going to wait till maybe the prices go down. For right now we have a cable system with two boxes in both houses on just common 27 inch, (I think) TV's. Mrs. likes movies and sports on her box, I watch History, Discovery, Speed, CNN, RFD, the rest is mostly garbage in my judgement. Frank.

I'm just wondering about you guys who have chains on a the Deere Compacts. My 4310 has almost no clearance between the inside of the rear tires, (R-4), and the fender. Do you put a spacer between the hub and the wheel to generate enough clearance for the chain. In my mind I can just see the chain tearing the plastic fender to shreds. To be 100% honest, I've never saw enough need for chains on snow, ice, or whatever to make them worth the bother, I'll admit I do slip and slide around some, but not enough to put up with the rough ride of chains. I asked the local Deere dealer about chains the other day. His comment was that he has never sold a set of chains, front or rear for a compact, and really doesn't want to.

Dennis, your experience reminds me of the first time I took the #48 backhoe off my 4310 then spent a half hour getting it back on which is a five minute job after I did everything wrong the first time, IF you set it on a level surface everything works fine when remounting it, if you don't, your relegion can become a bit strained. Congrads to you guys that have lost the weight. I lost 70 lbs. a few years ago, 250 - 180, then lost my will and gained it all back plus a few. Quitting smoking was easy, quitting Copenhagen was a real tough one, but I just can't seem to stick to a diet. The Mrs. says I need to subscribe to one of those mail order deals where they send you a month's worth of meals. Has anyone tried that? I'm fat and happy, but I know I'm not fat and healthy. Frank.

Greg; Sorry to diagree but I'm not talking about free water in the bottom of the sump, but the water IN the fluid. I don't know the specs of all hydraulic fluids, but IH HyTran for example has an additive in it that allows the fluid to absorb up to 3 percent, (I think) of water by volume. After the max of absorbtion has been reached then there is free water in the bottom of a sump. It is this water in the fluid that freezes the intake screen. This factor alone of allowing the fluid to get above it's absorbtion max of water took out more old style Torque Amplifiers in Farmall tractors tha all the use they ever got. Frank.

EW; Oh no, here we go again, just when I thought I had you calmed down. Massey Furgeson had a TV ad years ago where they said people, (they said men then, can't do that today), who drove MF equipment were "Dooers, Not Talkers". So taking from their theme, I'm a fixer, not a speller. I know Ferguson isn't spelled right, but surely you can figure out what I mean. I must have really made Dennis mad when I spammed him the other day, he took one of my little tractors away, you still got five, I only got four now. Oh, about the bucket on the "CEMENT" as it's more commonly known by the "Dooers", think about all the good beef steak and pork chops you have eaten because of us scraping the "Natural Fertilizer" as the new generation likes to call it off concreete to keep those critters clean and comfy till you ate them. Now just calm down and get that oil, or air going the right way, OK. Frank.
