Garydc; I've saw pictures of conversions but not a real live in person one. One I remember hung the blower on the FEL frame and drove it with a hydraulic motor from a pump on the PTO. The others used a home made three point on the front of the tractor to mount it. If your tractor has a mid PTO it likely runs too fast and in the wrong direction to power it directly with a shaft under the tractor. I've thought about one too but haven't gotten up enough courage to ask the price of a new one for the 4310, but likely by the time you are done converting you may end up spending about the same as trading yours for a front mouint. You may decide to do it just for the challenge of it all, if so "More Power To Ya", we all have a bit of that in us. Frank.

EW; I've been toying with the idea of a side mount system for a RMFM to mow the slopes of ditch banks while driving along the road. For simplicitys sake I would like to keep it on the three point of the tractor and power it with a hydraulic pump on the mid PTO of the 4310 and a slave motor on the mower deck. I don't know if my setup would work as well for mowing under trees, bushes, etc. as a front mount, but puting it on the three point would simplify mounting, (I've never had the FEL off my tractor). I have most everything needed, pump, motor, valves, resirvoir, etc. hydraulic wise but haven't got a second RMFM yet, I'm watching the dealer lots for a used one. keep us up to speed if you get something going. EW; I was tempted to suggest the same, skip the poles and pour a common frost footing and build a frame shed. But that aint what the man asked so I stuck with his fill question. The last two major sheds I've built are frame and wall. Everything about a frame shed is better and surprisingly little extra cost over a pole steel clad shed. Frank.

Thanks for all the replies,it is much appreciated. As I said in the original post our main reason for going to the CF's was to avoid frequent burnouts. That part seems to be working. For example in my office the center overhead fixture has a three bulb arrangment, with the grocery store incandescants we replaced one of the three at least every ten days, in a year since going to the CF's all three are still working. so that part was a succcess. What with all the disposal problems and all I'm going to take Denwoods advice and look for the 130 volt rated common bulbs. Frank.

I've gotta agree with EW, regardless of the sprinkler lines you need subsurface drainage with common perforated drain tile. Biggest concern is having a good outlet for the tile. If you can get a deep enough outlet on your side of the road it will be fairly easy to do. Use the laser to be sure you have fall to the outlet. I'd never heard the term "French Drains", they would be more costly and lots more work than drain tile. Frank.

I watched a show on Discovery or one of the science type channels about the future of hydrogen powered autos. It all sounded great about the lower emmisons and all till they described how our homes would have a hydrogen generator for you to fuel up your car overnight with hydrogen made form guess what, Natural Gas. So what is this doing to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels? Plus the latest guess on the cost to produce a hydrogen powered car was like 100K per car. We have gone a long way with wind turbines, and we are basicly ignoring the geothermal potential that is under places like Yellowstone that have enough free non poluting heat energy to serve us for years to come, but do we dare cross the path of a tree hugger or bunny hugger to get this free energy? Isn't it time we ignore these wackos and get going with something that makes sense for a change? I don't know if trucks and farm equipment could be battery powered off the grid with the free geothermal or free wind power, but if just the autos and pickups were we could cut oil use by a bunch. Sorry if I ruffled any "Green Feathers", but I too am tired of all the BS about we don't dare cut a tree or spoil the nest of an owl or something to benefit our own well being. Frank.

Murf; Have I missed something along the way? What is a "Pro Gator". I have an XUV Gator, great machine and used almost daily, but I will agree they have their limits. they just aren't a dump truck. Frank.

kleinkris; You learn something everyday, the cone splitter is a prime example. I honestly never knew there was such a thing till a couple years ago I saw one being advertised on TV. I was almost shocked that anyone would even produce such a suicide machine let alone try to sell it. WOW. Frank.

think the 2520 is produced without HST. If you can buy the tractor and loader for 15,100. that seems awfully low, is something else missing? FRank.

Kubman and EW; Nope, serious as an undertaker about the all electric drive from the generator to the wheel motors lie a locomotive"No oil needed", is the almost total elimination of lubricants required by generators and electric slave motors compared to the thirty or more gallons of oil in every farm tractor transmission regardless of gear drive, IVT, or hydrostat. The lady I speak of tells me the disposal of all that transmission fluid is also a factor in their electric drive research. And no EW, you aren't going to get me to convert to hydros. But EW another issue, I do think we should all contact our folks in government and demand rubber roads and cement wheels on the cars. Frank.

Murf; Thanks for the update, sounds like they are really out to get the pickup market. The last three pickups I've owned have been Chevy's 99% because of a great dealer, I used to drive Fords, all good pickups but the dealer sorta turned into a jerk, so see ya later. A little side note about the pickup market. While waiting for an oil change at the Chevy dealership a while back I was visiting with the owner about pickup sales. He was telling me that he and lots of other Chevy-GMC dealers are quite upset with GM for making their Onstar a standard feature of even the work truck series, Ford and Dodge are giving them a run for their money cost wise on fleet sales because of the built in extra cost of the standard equipmnt Onstar system that 90% of the fleet buyers don't want in the first place. If it hadn't been for the great dealer I speak of our last new car,(07 Trailblazer) would have been a Ford for the same reason, we basicly were forced to buy an Onstar system we didn't want, we have never turned it on, never turned it on in the last car either an 02 Venture. My vent for the day. Frank.

Nightrider; I have the quick attach bucket on my 430 Deere loader. I sometimes go betwen the bucket and the forks a couple times a day. It is a simple but very solid system, and takes just a couple minutes going either way. That feature alone would make it hard for me to change brands, I was under the assumption that most all brands had a quick attach bucket. Frank.

Scooterdp; Yes you are most likely to need rims and all. Most any farm tire repair shop has access to new rims that can sometimes be less costly than thru a Deere dealer. You likely would have to paint them tho. Another option if time is not pushing is to contact some Deere outlets that are in a very urban setting where most CUT's are sold with turf tires, he may have a used tractor with R-4's that he may be wiling to swap tires, rins and all. The theory of all tbis goes back to the land levelers they use, (or did use) in the ditch irrigation country to get an exact level surface. Those things used a wheel base that was really streched out and they used them long before a laser was around. A question for those of you in that part of the country. Do they still use the long wheel base land levelers or has the laser made them obsolete? Frank.

KWE; Perhaps the poteometers, cruse dontrol switches, etc. each have a small built in computer of some sort, but nowhere in the tech manual is the word computer used. Frank.
