Been there done that, I went from 38 zillion gophers in a 10 acre field to 0 in an hours time. Is your pastire big enough and level enough for an ordinary size farm tractor pulling an anhydrous ammonia applicator to operate in. If so check at a farm Co-op, or grain elevator that handles fertilizer, they'll know someone who will custom apply about 75-100 units per acre. If you have never handled anhydrous ammonia before please don't try to do it your self, it is nasty stuff, but completly safe in the hands of a lisensed applicatior. The horses and dogs will never know it was applied a hour afterr the man is done. Did mone 7 or 8 years ago, never had another gopher. Frank.

KW; I have a nephew by marriage that was having the same delema as you, one Dr. said the surgery was worse than the injury, another Dr. said the opposite. Far as I know he didn't have it done yet. Get well soon. Frank.

Just another lesson learned from the "Frank's Blunders" list. If you are going a short distance 50-75 ft. or less with a tench in someones front yard especially if it is your own and the wife gets upset real bad anytime she ses a machine that can destroy her lawn AGAIN. Plastic electrical conduit is free compared to facing the "WHY the H*** are you tearing up my lawn again" thing and cold suppers for a week. Just toss in an empty conduit or even two, it just makes for a cozy relationship. Happy diging. Frank.

Ken; The part you call the piston, I'm taking you to mean the chrome plated shaft that moves in and out of the cylinder to dump the bucket, correct? You have me wondering a bit as to why it is leaking. Has anything happened to the shaft to cause a rough spot that would abrade the seal as the shaft moves in and out, or even a bent shaft from striking something? Normal wear on hydraulic cylinders that aren't damaged can get you to be a pretty old man before any maintinence is needed. Check closely to see if perhaps a piece old wire, a small piece of gravel or something has gotten in the seal perhaps while pileing brush, clearing an old fenceline or whatever. The seal is a low dollar item, and the changing of it is pretty strait forward, but be ready to get real greasy. A hydraulic shop can change it for you pretty fast if they have time. Frank.

Norht Dakota has always been No. 4 on my list of favorite states. Iowa of course being No.1, Wisconsin being No.2, then Minnesota, North Dakota, and Kansas round out the top five. Any other state in the union I would rate as being 99.5% as great as any of the top five. Enjoy where you live. Frank.
P.S. 90% of my travels in North Dakota have been in July, maybe a January visit would affect my ratings score.

The Mrs. and I took flowers to the graves of our loved ones Friday afternoon. We're fortunate to have people, some paid some not who take excellent care of our cemeteries, they were all groomed to perfection. The American Legion people were there putting flags on the graves of all fallen militay, and puting up the "Avenue of the Flags". Sure makes us think of the freedoms we enjoy and those who gave it all to protect it. They can't help but be in Gods arms. Frank.

Pitt; Believe every word Murf said, I'm far from an engeneer, but got in on basicly an identical situation like 30 years ago. a neighbor did the same as you, built the new one, then called the neighbors in. He had a long cable, strung it thru windows and doorways to the oposite side of the house. His intent was to slide it off the foundation. I had a brsnd new 1070 Case farm tractor, another neighbor had a new 1066 Farmall, him on one end of the cable me on the other, the house owner said snug up the cable, dump the clutch and don't look back. Then just as Murf said "OH S--T), now what do we do? Just don't do it. Used to be a resturant in Pine Island that had the best Belgan waffles ever made, we used to stop there on the way home from fishing. Frank.

Bill, My only reason for maybe discouraging a tiller was my concren for your safety. We are an extremely diverse group here. We have members who depend on the use of compact tractors and the related equipment for their living all the way to the complete hobbyist owners. Putting myself back twenty years when there were times I had to kiss a most unsavory part of a banker to get operating capital my owning of all the fun equipment I have now would have been out of the queation. We don't have a motorhome, boat, etc., and have no criticisms of those who do, that's their business. The Mrs. don't care for long didtance travel, so this is our and it sounds like your form of enjoying what we worked our sorry behinds off for. The Mrs. is just as serious of a John Deere addict as I am. there cannot be a John Deere adult lawn toy she don't have. This past Saturday she took delivery of "Her" new XUV Gator. We gave all the kids (5) a college education, if they wanted it, they are all on their own now and doing fine just watching the "Old Folks" blow their inheritance, but we're having a ball, go for it Bill. Kevin; What is an MTD? You're giving me a brain cramp. Don't laugh about pulling the old Lawn Boy behind the Deere. I haven't saw him doing it lately, but a few years ago a fellow a few miles from here made a hitch of some sort that offset a push mower to the left behind a JD rider. It must have worked, he did it for several years. I'm statring to notice a few mower deck with an engine on it type looking deals that are pulled by ATV's. Frank.

I'm not that good at composing replys,(I hated English class in school, never did figure out what a noun, and all those other things had to do with milking cows, or greasing a baler.) so sometimes I leave out things I meant to say even tho I always proofread a post at least twice before I'll submit it. When I mentioned checking with some dealers about used Green, Blue, or Orange tractors, I neglected to say that I meant compact utility tractors like a Deere 4300, or equivalant size in the other two major colors. I really think you would find a full size farm tractor to be far to clumbsy for your needs, and so many attachments are now available for the compacts that don't really fit a full size farm tractor real well. Nuff from me. Frank.

I got my buildings moved an in exactly the spots I wanted them in the new addition on Friday. I'm a bit dim on knowing the proper name for the machine the consructiion crew is using, but it is a Gehl that has the single extendable arm that can have a forklift, a worker cage, etc. This was almost unbelievable what the operator can do with that machine. after thry hauled the buildings over here and unloaded them outside the stem wall of the building the workers put log chains around under the buildings and used the Gehl to almost no effort lift them over the walls into the exact spots I wanted them. I had saw those machines around construction sites, but never watched one being used, another "Modern Marvel" as we see on the history channel. Frank.

Not suposed to go our yet, but only three small steps from the kitchen to the garage, a husky handrail on each side. the new one has a ROPS frame that makes it super easy to get on, just grab a front and rear ROPS frame with each hand. That was another BIG selling point for me. The Doctors all are at the far ends of the golf course on a beautiful Saturday like today, they'll never know I did it. So I think the Mrs. will be the pilot, me begging her to slow down, just like she drives the car.
