Huck; Correct me if I'm wrong but a 4330 is about 43 horse and weighs a short 3500 lbs. A 9ft. blade is prtty wide and depending what it came off from likely has a pretty heavy frame involved. Do you know how much it weighs? I think you may bwe overloading the front axle of your tractor, and would need enough rear weights to make the whole unit overwhelm the ability of your tractor. Just my thoughts. Frank.

Problem solved. I changed all the fluids today even brake fluid, windshield washer fluid. power steering fluid, anti freeze, kinda pricey tho, traded pickups. Frank.

Kthompson; The health issue I speak of involves my legs, weakness and lots of leg pain. I've had a ton of tests that aways come back negative. This coming Friday I go to the hospital again for some more intense testing, so maybe thay will find a way to relieve it. But if not I'll just keep taking the pain killers and keep doing what I'm doing now. I've learned that all you have to do is sit in the waiting room in the orthopedics clinic at the University of Iowa Hospital and see people who are so much worse off than me that you sort of think why am I sitting here, I don't really have any problems compared to some of those poor souls. Dennis, my only comment is that there are still a few of us who think a computer is a No.2 lead pencil and a Big Cheif school tablet. So please don't get too far above our skills. Maybe some you old timers can help me remember this. Back in the late 50's or early 60's a company that I think was called the"Howard Rotovator company" mad a tiller that wss wide enough to cover four rows of corn but only tilled where the row would be then had a planter unit mounted on it behind each strip of tilled ground to be sort of a one pass planting system. One of our neighbors got one and as I remember it ran in reverse. They never caught on, I think for several reasons, they were pittiful slow, they would wrap with trash, and rocks were a real killer on them. Far as the Landpride reverse model, I've saw a couple on dealer lots, but never knew anyone who has one. Enough rambling from me, Frank.

Broken: Thanks for the response. Since I first posted I managed to nurse the old Sears back to life again, but this is probably it's death rally. When she does bite the big one, I think I'll go with a rental Culligan so the "Culligan Man", or lady, which ever can carry the salt to the basement. Thanks to all who educated me on the R/O system, that sounds like something I'll look into when the time comes for a new softener. Thanks again. Frank.

Murf: I kind of do the same as you with the blocks under the edge of the rotary mower decks, etc. only I use some 6X6 pole barn cut offs about a foot long. Not to be a smart A-- or anything but how do you wrestle 12X12X18 cresote blocks around, do you have a resident Gorilla? Frank.

Yoper; The original "M" Farmalls were rated at about 39 PTO horsepower With a 3-7/8 th. bore, the Super M's and the 400's were rated at 51 with a 4 in. bore. " Fire Crater" pistons were a popular thing, the increased the bore to 4-1/8 and raised the compression ratio a bit. The 400 my Dad had ran about 58 horse on the dino with "Fire Craters'. Frank.

I had a Landpride RTA3576 for several years but sold it when we moved away from the farm. It was a good load for my deere 4310, but your Kobota would handle it well. I just don't even lok at anything other than Landpride anymore, they build good equipment, they cost a bit more, but you just never have anything go wrong and when I sold the tiller I guess I sold it too cheap, I asked the man 2750. and he said sold. Deer season opens this coming weekend in Iowa. Come to Iowa, bring a big truck, I'm not a deer hunter so I don't know what the limits are, but far as I'm concerned they should double the limits. There are just about as many if not more in places of dead deer on the road as racoons anymore. We live about a mile from a river with timber coming halfway to the house so a garden is out of the question anymore, they even eat the Mrs. flowers right under the picture window. Frank.

I used to have the lowest cost sharpening service known, FREE. My father in law was an independent garage owner from the time he was a teen ager till he was forced to retire with bad feet in his mid 50's. Never being a man to sit still or non productive he bought a chainsaw sharpening device that looked like a miter saw. as he moved the chain along in the clamp the sharpener would rotate from left to right so it could sharpen right hand and left hand teeth by only pulling the chain thru once. I don;'t remember what he charged to do a chain or overhaul a saw. He must have had a dozen or so to sharpen most days, people started giving him old saws they had given up on and he made most of them run again. It kind of got to be a social gathering point for the town loafers, they would bring one chain at a time just to catch up on the news. He's now in a nursing home, but that little sharpening business was on of the joys of his life for a good many years. I have no idea what brand of sharpener he had or where it ever went. Frank.

Last summer we needed to re roof a rental house, so after seeing quite a few homes even some new homes with steel roofing I did some research. The major positive was long life, some was warranted for 50 yrs., some was in sheets like barn steel, some was in rectangle shapes that somehow locked together with no exposed fasteners. Biggest negative over conventional shingles was cost, about double for some. Then I remembered going into steel roofed sheds on a frosty morning when the sun was melting the frost off the inside of the roof and it is almost raining in the building. Would'nt the frost collect on the underside of the steel no matter how it is put on or what is under the steel? Where does this moisture go? Is there a way to get some airflow under the steel to take the moisture out? Anyway I did'nt use the steel, but still wonder about these questions. Frank.

WING; Really don't recall having that problem, but I know there are several different specie of cherry and maybe I've never had black cherry. I've found that dull blades will cause some tearout in gummy cherry, maybe that isn't the correct name for it but it's what we call it around here. It has the dark spots about 1/4-1/2 in. in diamater scattered in the grain. The sawmill where I get it from said they used to sell it for barn lumber, but now he gets a premium for it. I don't really know a lot about it, but I think it is pockets of resin that somehow get trapped in the wood. A little more on the subject of air drying lumber. I've got several old what we called "Monkey Ward" "Lo Load 60" wagon gears that usually sell for 50 bucks on an auction that make real neat lumber drying racks, then you just pull it to the shop, take off what you need and put it back in the shed.

I just remembered something I saw just yesterday that did'nt look good to me. Someone is building a house down the road from us on a pretty big lot probably 500 ft. deep and the same wide. The house is at the far side of the lot with the driveway running parallel close to the east lot line to the house. Yesterday the power co. was there puting in the service. They ran the buried line from the house diagional across the lot to the opposite corner where the pole is at the road. I think the power co. gives you the first 50 or 75 ft. then the rest is your expense, so I suppose they took the most direct route to save on the footage. My immediate thought was that sooner or later the home owner will want a shed, pool, horse barn, etc., and guess what will be right where they want the building. If it were mine I would want the power line along side of the drive where it would likely never be in the way. Frank.

Be careful what you hook to a JD power beyond circut. There is no internal relief valve in the tractor for the power beyond, this is direct off the pump so the machine you plug into the power beyond MUST have a high pressure relief. Nasty things have happened like split pump housings because a cylinder came to the end of the stroke and the lever did'nt kick back to center. Fluids don't compress so they find their own way out. Earthworks; In the early 60's we lived on a farm that we rented from an super rich ultra conservative old lady. Every summer she would hire me to paint buildings on that and another farm or two she owned. I think white barn paint was about six or seven dollars a gallon and boiled linseed oil was a buck or less, so her rules were a 50/50 mix of paint and linseed oil. One of those old buildings is still standing, I'm sure I was the last one to paint it, it looks pretty tough now but it still has a hint of white to it but the old boards don't look too bad. A few years ago when I was running the furniture plant a customer wanted boiled linseed oil for a finish on some indoor furniture. We did it on a test piece and found it never got completely dry and would collect dust, so we did'nt use it on the things he wanted. But back to your question, yes it was a great product for outdoor protection, my Dad used to use it on wagon boxes and hay racks that lasted him a lifetime. The old lady I spoke of that I painted for lived on till the early 90's in hermit like connditions, died with tons of money, but I did'nt see a Brinks truck in her funeral procession. Frank.

Sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers ar with you and your friend. I just learned yesterday of a good friends mother who was found to have a fast moving form of cancer, a real shocker. She and I were both hauling corn to the local elevator a week ago, we visited several times while waiting in line, she semed the picture of health then. Frank.

Why not go direct to the Kubota dealer yourself? 99% of those friend of a froend who knows a fellow type deals cost more in the end than going direct to someone qualified to fix it. Been there done that. Frank.
