I've driven hydros in lots of farm equipment, combines, etc.where you need a precise speed to be most effecient, there also great in lawn equipment, but I've just never liked them in any size tractor. It's all matter of personal preference, If you like hydros that's great, do you need them, no you can do anything with gears that a hydro will do. I'm still kind of a basic fellow, I too have never owned a pickup with an automatic or electric windows. Frank.

I just won't use the internet to advertise something anymore after I got basicly the same response to an item. I just did'nt respond to whom ever the person was. I used to sell some parts on another old tractor website and got along fine, but I guess things have changed. Frank.

Mike, most any farm equipment dealer has a catalog full of replacment seats for most any model tractor. Sometimes they want your old pan sometimes not. Best of luck. Frank.

Tractorbuyer; I agree with Murf 3000 ft. of runway is almost 3.5 acres, thats a lot of crown to build. I've never built a runway with a crown but have put in quite a few field waterways where you're doing just the opposite by grading it low in the center to direct the water. One big thing that will make your job a lot easier is to spray the sod you're going to grade with roundup at least three weeks before you want to grade it. Having dead sod and dead roots instead of gobbs of live roots makes grading a joy rather than a mess. Get someone with a road grader preferably with a laser and they'll have it done in a day or less. I guess I'd lean toward a 25-30 hp. compact with a loader and rear mount finish mower to take care of the rest. Best of luck. Frank.

Art, yes you're right I did oversimplify things a bit about the 7720. Yes most every other moving part had been replaced at least twice if not more. The hour meter had quit at about 3800 hrs. and then it ran the last four or five falls without one, so guessing I say it had total hours in the low to mid 5's. It did still have the original walkers, but I had rebuilt them once. Frank.

Once you have it cleaned up try using a silicone spray lubricant on the table. Not only does that make things work much easier, but also seems to leave a protective film while not in use. I don't know how it ranks on the quality ladder but CRC brand was always my favorite because it seemed to dry almost instantly and not leave a residue on what you were sawing. Best of luck. Frank.

BamaJax, If it dies like runing out of fuel I'd start with the fuel filter. If that doesn't solve it then possibly a pinched fuel hose from the tank or something that restricts the fuel. Injectors don't all go bad at the same time, normaly a bad injector will cause an engine to miss. Hope it's something simple and inexpensive. Frank.

I think 60 would be about right. About the same amount of whatever you're raking will dribble off the ends of the rake no matter the width of the unit, so being a bit wider means you keep more of what your raking. I was amazed at how well a rake will movw loose soil or crushed rock around, it almost replaces a rear blade in loose conditions. Best of luck. Frank.

BC; Perhaps you're in a drier climate and poles will work fine. Here in the midwest poles rotting at the soil line can be a problem over time. I've built both frame and pole over the years and the frame built over time is going to win out. Best of luck. Frank.

It's not a real common sight, but probably a half dozen times I've saw a hawk take off with a snake in it's grasp. This spring I had several red tail hawks watch over me as I tilled ahead of the corn planter, they would pick up a mouse on a pretty regular basis. If we only had eyesight like them. Frank.

My heated shop is realitvly small 24 x 26, but if I were to do it over I'd probebly use the same system installed about 25 yrs. ago. I don't remember the exact amounts, but under the slab we put 2-3 in. of foam board then put radiant heaters just below the ceiling, (about 9 ft.). It seems to not cost a lot to keep it at about 50 degrees, and have had no matinence problems yet. Liquid heated floors are getting popular and they may have some advantages over what I did, you should check it out. I'm sure ther are folks on the board who have them and perhaps they will share their experience. Best of luck. Frank.

I've really never heard of one going bad. My Father inlaw had a couple for his outboard motor that were so old the had faded to almost white. Mine usually get lost or loaned out to never return long before they get very old. Frank.

If my memory serves me correctly there are a couple of flow diverter valves in the system. There function was to allow one pump to keep enough fliud flow to different systems like steering, hyd. outlets, hitch at the same time. I've heard of them sticking and causing the problem you speak of also. Your Case-IH sevice mgr. may have had this experience too and can tell you more. Good luck. Frank.

This isn't the answer you were looking for but last summer I saw a Gator pushing a three gang reel type mower on a golf course. I did'nt see it close enough to tell if it was a home made or a store bought unit. Frank.

My Father bought a 1,000. Muarry, used it a couple summers then became unable to operate it due to health problems. He asked me to sell it for him. Even tho it had'nt did much and ran quite well the best offer I got was 150.00. Dad was real dissapointed and I too thought it should bring more, so I guess resale can take you down if you have to sell it before it's worn out. Frank.

Lots of us "Old School" people had a hard time converting to OSB, but so far I haven't herd of a house falling down because it was used. Our house is built using it, I drug my feet a bit but as allways the cost factor entered the picture. Plywood is costly now, but if no body used OSB and all insisted on plywood what would it cost with that much less competition and lots more demand? Just my ramblings. Frank.

Roger; My experience has been to set the teeth shallow to start with, then a bit deeper till your tractor tells you you're deep enough. Seems to work best to scarify it first then pull the soil with the teeth retracted. Frank.

I wasn't aware of this till a friend of mine replaced his cutting edge. A local steel yard keeps it in stock and will cut it to your length. He just cut the old worn one out and welded the new edge in. It looked real nice, but he is an excellent welder. Likely most steel outlets have it, I just wasn't aware of it. Frank.

Ask your dealer about it, they want you to be a happy return customer. I agree lugging a new engine would be more harmfull than higher RPM's. Frank.
