I noticed the throttle control on my 2910 seems a bit stiff and sticky. I have tried to spray lubricant at every pivot point, but that does not seem to help. Would anyone here know if there an adjustment on the engine throttle block that can be loosened a bit? Thanks.

Actually, I owned a 4100 that had the pedals switched to the left side when you purchased an HST model. I believe all of the 4000 series are like that. A very sensible solution that works. I assume the other manufacturers don't do it because of an additional cost in manufacturing. Perhaps thinking like that is why they cost a bit more, I don't know. And this from one that owns a Kubota. Actually, if the J/D had the adjustable lower links, tilt wheel and a couple of other conveniences, I would be willing to say it would be the best all around tractor on the market and worth the extra money. I liked my 4100 and in particular the use of the steer brakes on the HST for loader work. The ONLY reason I traded it was for more HP. The Kubota does allow you the same convenience in a different way. The hand operated HST will allow limited use of the brakes, as long as you don't have to be operating the loader at the same time. In that case, you would need three arms as opposed to three legs. Can't have it all I guess.

Interesting reading. After looking over the various pictures of filters and reading the descriptions, it appears to me that the new "made in US" filter for my 2910 is a WIX. Not a bad thing since the OEM's were a buck cheaper, believe it or not.

One other comment about the MMM deck. In my experience it does lend stability to the tractor when using the loader. 500# mounted low under the middle of the machine enables me to do light loader work without adding ballast to the rear. I don't however, lift high and heavy loads without the rear weight in place.

I just sat on one of these when I picked up my oil filters today. That machine is a whole lot for the money. It is a bit too large for my needs at this time, but I can see it in my future at some point perhaps. I saw a picture of it with turf tires and MMM, I don't think anything compares for the same $$$ unless they lowered the price on J/D.

David, that is how mine look. It would be nice if a Kubota expert (Art) was available to add his comments! Mine seem to cut nice as well but I thought perhaps it might be damaging the grass with that blunt spot.

What is the price difference in the two machines if they are comparably equipped? Is the 3010 available with HST as well as telescoping lower links? I assume they run the same H/P. After struggling without those telescoping links, I would not own a machine without them. I have an assortment of three point attachments and always have to change them without assistance. It sounds to me as though it is a comparable machine is size to the TC29.

Thank you Art. I picked up a WIX that directly cross referenced to the number, it cost less than seven dollars with the tax. They tell me that WIX will stand behind their filters 100% to meet or exceed manufacturer's specs and will replace an engine that is damaged as a result of their products. The Kubota filters the dealer sold me were around $12 each, and I guess for the sake of arguement it is worth using them. Does the OEM filter have the same great guarantee to protect against defects or faulty performance? Just curious. I pulled out my supply of filters from under my workbench shelving and came across one N/H oil filter I had not used on the other machine. The invoice was still with it and I was shocked at what I saw. The N/H dealer's mechanic (at my request) had dropped an oil filter, a fuel filter and one Hydraulilc filter for servicing at a later date when he was on one of many warranty visits to my garage in 2000. I had one filter they had given me at the time of purchase and used that along with the other parts at 50 hours. The invoice was stuck to that last filter I found in my cabinet. I had neglected to look at the bill for parts, due to the fact that we were tearing my new tractor apart at the time and my mind was elsewhere. They charged me almost $70 for those three filters. The fuel filter was less than ten bucks. I think I flushed pure red Sunday when I found that invoice, but it is way too late to complain. I would like to know what the other members of this board have paid for N/H tc29D OEM filters. I think I was totally ripped-off as a trusting and loyal customer, by the dealer.

Good point regarding the hoses. I have fallen handling them, expecially when the nozzle man backs off quickly. You haven't a choice but to back at that moment, expecially if things are getting HOT. As far as the potatoes go, I use a hand peeler but can't get past using that Henckels knife for slicing!

There may be a seperate fuse for the pre-heaters that kills the ignition. That happened on my new tc29, acted just like you described. IF no other fuse exhists, I would clean the terminals and try a jump start to see if the new battery is any good.

Stan,

Mine was newer than yours but never heard much of a bad thing about them. One aquaintance of mine mentioned his rear wheels moved on the axle and caused a wear that required them to be replaced. I don't know if that is something you would want to check for or not. Only one I ever heard that did it.

You are of course 100% correct Tom. What you said in your third paragraph is indeed the answer, personal responsibility. Another federal program would breed a whole new generation of "injured" and create a whole new bureacuracy, none of us here can afford to pay for that.

The country is full of crooks and unscrupulous people in all businesses unfortunately. The one you were dealing with should have had his franchise pulled. There is a dealer in Rochester that had a tune up special a couple years ago. A different brother in law of mine took his perfectly running car there because he felt it was due. When he got it back, it ran terribly so he made another appointment. They told him it needed some part that would cost him $300. He called me and I called another dealer that confirmed my suspicion, the part in question did not exhist for his model car. I promptly told him to call the 800 number in the back of his owners manual and tell his story to the hot line. A factory rep met him at the dealer to get his car fixed for free. If you don't find that info on the web Mark, let me know and I will ask him about the seal for you.

Usually the only reason I remove mine is to use the loader, so I mount the loader and lift the front end with that. In my mind it is more stable than a bottle jack. If I don't plan on using the loader, I can pick it up by the front frame using a cherry picker rated at 4k# to assist with removal. No matter what the method, those things are heavy and seem cumbersome to slide around (at least my 72" on the 2910 is). The easiest way is to have your son do it, can't seem to convince the wife it is good exercise for her.
