That was strange. I used ImageShack to reduce the size and create an image for "forums". From there I pasted it into the picture link box here. I always check for the double http// as I do this quite often and many places that occurs. When I first posted the picture, I had the small one and the large one, not sure if you edited that out.

Sounds as though it is related to the change in leverage presented by the loader arms moving upward and the cylinder extending as the unit rises doesn't it?

I have not noticed the differences as you have other than the curl being more powerful.

I am not so sure how easy it would be to position the loader if you had a good deal of trimming to do but for the occasional dangerous situation it would work fine. On the backhoe bucket it will be very easy to position.

I sure understand where you are at. I traded up twice and then made a lateral move to a Kubota over the NH I had due to constant issues with it.

Perhaps you could split the front brakes off and have independent control for both, that way you could toggle from the track that is spinning to one with traction. Not as good as a locker but similar to anti-spin or the current versions of traction control.

I did the fall fertilizer thing on mine more due to the dry summer. I have not put anything on it in a couple of seasons. From what I have read, the fall treatment helps to build a good root system.

Only input I can offer is that several farmers around here use them, have older models and say they are fine. They were cheap as well, at least comparatively so.

As for the age of the machine, I would ensure that common parts are readily available. I turned down a deal on a JCB due to no local parts and British Metric everything.

I believe the Canadian dollar is worth about the same as the US at this point.

The Case dealer has been doing the service and is going to do a complete service of all fluids and filters prior to delivery. I purchased the machine well under market value due to cosmetic issues. It was used to plow snow so the cab doors and hood (especially the hood) look terrible. But that I can address as I have time. New tires going on this week too. The dealer split the cost with me.

Well, here is the latest update on the backhoe quest.

I sat in on the Proxy auction Saturday and the two excavators I was interested in went for what I believe was about 2-3k below retail, same guy bought both. My own fault I missed them as I had not done enough prep work in advance.

Since then, however, I have come across two backhoes for sale locally. One is a private owner and the other is a dealer. I looked at the Case 480E yesterday and am looking at the 580LT tomorrow. The price is so good on the new dealer trade that I signed an offer with the salesman today (he met me on the road) with an inspection clause so I can decline if I choose to do so.

I have seen pictures of the 580 and it looks good but we shall see. It is 4WD with "extend a hoe", full enclosure, remote hydraulics and a heater (yesssss).

Keeping my fingers crossed ;)

I put a set of Western Snow Plow shoes on my rear blade and that works fine. Glad I don't need to use just the rear blade any longer, one winter was enough of that with the old AC D12.

Sounds like fairly reasonable expectations for mileage. My Cummins runs 16 around town or towing and will jump up to about 18 on straight highway use.
