I am curious. I have one well that is sulfur and one that is not. It sounds as though the smell you are getting does not have anything to do with a sulfur supply but rather with pollutants in your lines, correct?

I laughed when I read your post Earthworks! I learned on a Ford four-lever and progressed from there to about everything else possible, including the Davis 30+4 which as a laugh no matter who tried to run the thing.

Art, I wish I had known about that auction. I am not in a hurry but if I could get a few things done prior to winter I would be happy.

Price will be commensurate with the equipment condition. I don't want a piece of junk but something that could use some TLC is OK. Most likely I will sell it at some point down the road. Given the condition of my back I can't get into major, heavy restoration of this stuff.

Yes, the cost may have gone up in the last couple of years, mine is due here this fall so I will find out. If I recall, it was at $85 for a long time if he had to dig the lid on the 1K tank and then rose a few bucks. Given that the wife pays the bills I am unsure how much the last one was. Hope I am not in for a $400 hosing!

I am switching myself. I have been using Shell Rotella full synthetic with extended changes in the vehicles but generally never more than 5k. Changed the boat engines over last year.

Spoke to the Jeep dealer and he recommended changing the transfer case and axles over to Amsoil since I am planning on using it in the engine, says that will increase economy. And they are not an Amsoil dealer so really have nothing to gain with those comments.

I am on an adhoc committee to write the local ordinance for windmills. Much of the problem around the state is a result of companies building the mills and not compensating the communities for the intrusion. Locally, we are not going to let that occur.

We are working with Tom Gulisano's company, which will cut the municipality into the game to reduce either electric rates or property taxes or both.

Personally, I love the idea of the on-site mills for rural residential use. The issue now is with the environmental wackos that are protesting the death of the birds that fly into them. I truly believe these people are total fruitcake/socialists.

This forum to me is like that first cup of freshly ground coffee on a Sunday morning. I feel comfortable, welcome and try to give back as much as I receive, which is difficult most of the time as most everyone here is trying to do the same thing :)

I have two H/D trailers that are registered. On is a tandem car hauler that came with BF Goodrich trailer tires. The other is a triple axle boat trailer that came with cheap rubber.

All I can say is the only reason I have not changed the boat trailer tires is that I trailer only twice a year for one mile. I have seen boats wrecked due to tires blowing out so it never goes over 30 MPH.

Purchase the best tire you can afford to fit the rim you have.

A friend of mine was clearing woods with his BX, front loader and backhoe. Somehow, brush punched a hole in the oil filter, so he unknowingly ran it without oil for some time. Put a new filter on, filled her with oil and away he went. One tough machine.

My pool patio is concrete and the fill under the patio and around the pool is sand. I moved a cement bench and our picnic table out there last week and was ready to jump in a couple of days ago when I noticed red aunts the size of a pinpoint everywhere. I couldn't even find a place to set my towel without them crawling all over it.<br>

I sprayed with three different types of pesticide over the last two days. Each time, I kill what is there but more return. Now I am assuming there is a huge nest under the cement with now way to get to it and my thoughts of them carrying the poison into the nest is not working it seems.<br>

Any tricks out there to rid myself of these things? Sure would appreciate some advice on this one.

I had to learn that lesson several times over with the truck and snow plow. The first house I purchased was on the lake shore accessed by a private road. The first winter I plowed the road and went to the extra effort to clean the driveway of several other residents that spent the winter there. I did not ask for any money but a couple of them insisted on paying me something to at least cover the gasoline.

There were two other residents with Ford Broncos, one with a plow and the other without. The guy with the plow would never do the road since I lived further in and had to go past his house to get out. He was very well off financially, go figure. The other guy worried only about himself, wouldn't help anyone.

The second winter I told everyone that I would charge a small fee for the driveway cleaning but not for the road. At that point, one of them said he would call me if he wanted my help. Everyone else thought he was an ass, who was I to argue. About half way through the winter he could no longer grind his truck through the packed snow and ice to get into his driveway so he called me. I told him sorry, it is too bad for me to plow it, better hire a loader. That same guy was in my driveway the first really bad snowfall upset that he could not get down the main road because my old Ford would not start. What nerve!

A couple of houses and plow units later and I finally learned that the tractor without plates to travel down the road saves all the headaches. Since most of the neighbors around me have tractors, not an issue, but during heavy snow I do travel with my blower to assist if they get bogged down. In return I am rewarded with great neighbors and an occasional homemade baked good :).

I will loan my trailer to a few close friends if they need one but not my tools or power equipment.

Very common to bury gas and electric in the same trench, code in this area is a 12 inch separation last I knew. When I ran the electric to my barn, a 400 foot job, I laid conduit for each utility, used an over-sized conduit for the URD and inserted an extra pull in the electric duct for future "emergencies.
