My belt came off when I was either engaging or disengaging the lever. I noticed it would happen when I did either quickly. I now slowly push or disengage the hand lever and have not had a problem since (2years)

I know this is an old post, but I had the same problem. The 3 point lever on the right side that raise and lowers the 3 point was jamming hard and I had to really push it forward and back to get it to go. Finally it stopped working. I took the seat off and looked at where the 3 point lever joined the lever at side of the gear box. then I followed the 1/4inch by 6 inch long rod that traveled back from this point and passed thru a brass eyelet, then there was a spring and then 2 nuts at the end of this threaded rod. I took all this apart and found when it was apart, I could use a pair of plyers to grab a hold of the lever where the 3 point lever attached and move it back and forth and the arms would raise up and down. I then put the plyers on the brass eyelet and saw it should swivel back and forth about 1/8 inch as the 3 point arms go up and down. It wasn't moving freely, very hard to move it. I could see the threaded rod was jamming as it was going through this brass eyelet and wearing it away. I began spraying WD40 on it and moving it back and forth and slightly in and out. It finally became very free. I put everything back together, but saw that when it was jamming, I bent then 3 point lever, so I had to bend it back, bolted it on and everything works great.

Just purchased an 805. The ignition is not starting the tractor after the first few weeks in the hay field. Previous owner never had a problem with it but is also the one who let the rats nest get built under the dash after letting it just sit few the past two years. Traced every wire I know and still have nothing hitting the starter. Think it may be a fuse or some sort of relay. Does anyone have some info on this?

I would appreciate hearing your opinions. I am looking at a 4wd B8200 manual trans with ag tires and 4 ft. rotary cutter. Tractor would be maintaining and cutting new atv trails(hilly country)through some brush, briars and 1-2" saplings on hunting property. Tractor will also be used for plowing small food plots (1/2 to 1 acre). Track clearance in the woods will be an issue.<br>
I also need to haul tractor to another property to rough cut 4-6 flat acres of field grass and run a 4ft. disc to maintain dirt bike/atv trails. Current towing capacity is 3000# payload. Funds are an issue. Can the B8200 handle this order?

have a line on a used (56 hours) 3130 with the following attachments:65" boxblade scraper(woods), with fel 1016 woods, auger/post hole digger with bit.GST trans, ag tires. asking $19,150 plus tax. these tractors were used for one season in the grape vineyards in napa valley, then returned to dealer. comes with full factory warranty. we are looking for a tractor to do basic work on our 80 acrre cattle (for now) ranch. is this a good deal or should we pass? remember-this is in california....would appreciate any comments/suggestions/wise tractor wisdom from those that know.<br>

There was an article that was brought up awhile back dealing with some vehicles that synthetic was so slick it didn't allow the rings to seat properly. I can't remember where I read it though. It recommended not using it until the engine was broke in.

If you have the Chinese oil in it I would change it. I changed mine at 25 and after seeing it I would have changed it immediately if I had known. That was true for the transmission and hydraulic fluid also.

I have a Jinma 284 and so far like it a lot. The general consensus is if you're willing to turn a wrench once in a while you will be OK. There are plenty of people willing to help if you do have problems. I looked around a lot and for me the savings will more than compensate if I do need to repair something. As Richard said Jinmas are sold under many different names. John's website is johnstractor.com.

The FarmPro website shows no available implements for the 20hp 2 wheel drive. I read somewhere that there are dealers selling them but it is not recommended by
FarmPro.

I have found a old ford new holland implement chart and it recomends 5 foot model 951b it also list a 4 foot but says it will not cut the tracks of your tractor out. I have a New Holland tc33d and 5 foot King cutter it works good and I have used the same cutter with a 1320 it did good to I agree with Roddie 4 foot would be a little small. The back of a 1320 with turf tires is 57inch and the weight of a 1320 fwd is 2229 out of the book the 33d fwd is 2474 as for weight and size almost the same tractor 33d has more horepower Thanks.

I bought a 4WD 790 about a year ago. It has the dscv, turfs and 4 bumper weights (160 pounds) and I paid 11,600 here in VA. I use it with an old Ford 5 ft. brush hog and a 6 ft. Bush Hog brand finish mower. Both of these mowers are heavy (>600 pounds) and the tractor has never had any problems. I use 4 40 pound weights on the front and probably should get one more. It will pop the nose in the air if I let off the clutch too fast with the mower up, but I have no problems with turning. I really enjoy this tractor, it has been trouble free and done everything I have needed it to do. I would buy one again if I needed too.

I have had a JD 790 for almost a year now and could'nt be any happier with it. I have heard that folks are switching tires to gain a little extra width and was curious if anyone had done this on a 790. I looked at it the other day and it did not look like I would gain anything (I did not measure though). Any information on this would sure be appreciated.<br>Thanks,<br>Mark

Bob, I've talked to you before and really appreciate your help a few years ago when I ordered my first tractor section and 5 or 6 implement sections, and three or four times I've talked to you since. Since then, I've ordered several more tractor sections and 7 or 8 implement for friends that wanted them, and half a dozen more implement sections for myself. Besides that, I know half a dozen people who've seen mine and ordered them, and a bunch that have emailed me after messages I've posted online about them. Some of them have subsequently purchased them, too. I should've bought stock...

I've even got most of the kinks out of a mock-up approach to getting a posthole digger to work with it (as long as you've got another top-link hole on the tractor for the end of the boom to fit in, of course).

There's no doubt in my mind that you've got an incredible product. If I had to go back to changing all the stuff I've got the old way, I think I'd get rid of at least half of it. It just wouldn't be worth having it to go to the trouble of changing it.

One set I ordered from you was for my mother-in-law (now if that doesn't prove we're on good terms, I don't know what does...). She absolutely loves it. She's pretty mechanically inclined but not into getting beat up changing equipment around, so she thinks they're great. She'd like them even better if I had let her change implements the old way awhile instead of delivering the Freedom Hitch all set up and ready to go when I delivered her new tractor to her. She doesn't really appreciate what she's missing!

Anyway, in the next month or so, I'll get around to calling you. I need several more implement sections...

Tom, I forgot one thing: Next time you see the Michelin baby, try to picture the tire he's sitting in as a 19.5LR24 XM27. Then you wouldn't be able to see him at all. That might help... (This could spawn a whole new series of baby jokes, but then the cure might be worse than the disease!)

Kubota Super UDT is a semi-synthetic. Or at least it used to be a couple years ago when Texaco made it and would answer questions on the subject. It used to be that Texaco's phone number was on the 5-gallon pails and if you called them they would answer questions about it. The last time I called them they wouldn't even say whether they still make it or not.

Kubota published a technical paper in "Trends and Developments in Fluid Power for Off-Highway Applications" which is now reprinted as SAE publication 972788 in which they describe the advanced characteristics of Super UDT. The interesting thing is that all the benefits they describe - lower cold temp viscosity, higher high temp viscosity, lack of emulsification when mixed with water, lower friction, etc. are all the same selling points of synthetics, but nowhere in the paper do they say how Super UDT's formulation was varied to accomplish this. My opinion as to the reason is that they're not in the business of oil refining, therefore they didn't really come up with any new formulation, only a higher spec. Also interesting is that several manufacturer's semi-synthetics meet or marginally exceed Kubota's test specs for Super UDT (as published in the aforementioned paper, the only place I know of where such specs can be gotten), while all the full synthetic formulations I've seen exceed those specifications, often by a wide margin. So why go with semi-synthethic? It's less expensive.

An interesting side note is that in Japan Super UDT is biodegradeable but elsewhere it is not.

Jack's point is still well taken. One major reason that knowledge isn't just power in this instance, but may mean your life, is that people don't feel uncomfortable at the same point. Some are just born risk takers, and others don't get nearly as much done as they otherwise could because they can't judge a slope well. Far better to know what you're doing than wonder. I've used one of R&B's slope indicators for only a few hours and already have gotten a far better feel for what's safe and what isn't from it than from my previous 25 years of tractor operation.

A regenerative circuit is one where the fluid coming out of the rod end of the cylinder is "re-generated" by being fed back into the blind end. In effect, it's pressurizing both ends of the cylinder, but because the rod end generates less force (because the rod itself takes up piston surface area), the cylinder still extends. This has the effect of increasing the flow and, therefore, the cylinder motion speed, by approximately the ratio of the rod area to the cylinder area. It has the negative effect of reducing the power available by the same percentage as the flow increase, but this is not usually a problem when used with bucket dump applications. A "regenerative" circuit would obviously be a very big mistake on the roll-back side. Note, too, that regenerative circuits only work in one direction, i.e. when the cylinder is being extended. If you tried to use it the other way around, the cylinder motion would still be to extend the cylinder. The only uses of regenerative circuits, as far as I know, is to speed up cylinder motion, and to make life difficult for us hydraulics hobbyists (as in the case of when you're trying to use an electrically actuated valve to allow the roll-back & dump circuit to also control a 4-in-1 bucket)...

Can anyone give me some info on a Ford 540B? It is a 3 cyl. diesel, around 50HP, and is in decent condition considering the age. This tractor has a front mounted motor driven hydraulic pump hooked to a sidebar sickle mower with a hydraulic motor on the mower. There are also hydraulic outlets on the rear of the tractor, but not sure of the power source. Can a loader be installed on this model tractor, what hydraulic pump needs are required. I can get this tractor for a good price, but if a loader cannot be installed then I am not interested. Thanks for any help. Mark
