I am looking for a used snowblower for my tractor

Thanks for the info Jack - If you say my 1710 should be able to handle the 771 once it is mounted then I'm assuming my main concern now is if the 1720 has the same loader mounting as a 1710. The dealer states it came off a 1720 and the previous owner said it worked fine. I have some pics of the 771 mounting brackets and they have been modified to fit the 1720. The loader is 80 miles away so I could at least ask the dealer to measure some of the main mounting dimensions or I suppose better yet just take the tractor over there and rough fit the loader. I'd sure like to buy a new loader but I haven't found one for under $3,000 so the $1100 price tag on the 771 creates a lot of interest. I'd love to find a 770 loader but parts for a 1710 are just about zero in the salvage yards on the internet or on dealer lots. I do however want the finished loader to run and look right. So the question now is: Do the 1720 and 1710 have the same loader mounts?

You will also be a lot safer in the future when running any attachment on that tractor that may develop centrifical force (rotary cutter)--The 2 stage clutch or Live PTO is best because they will not allow these type implements to push the tractor during operation. Running a belly mower or finsih mower on a tractor with no live PTO will get old after a while because every time you push the clutch in the mower will slow down or stop. --Ken Sweet

WE have been selling a "Greenline" special digger for sub- compact tractors for several years--It will dig about 42 inches. It has narrow and standard width catagory 1 lower hitch pins and does not have the ground clearance problem that regular diggers have. Ken Sweet

I'm going to try to sell my factory Ford 1710 cab. It has a heater, defroster, windshield wiper, interior lights and numerous outside lights.What is worth? (So. Minnesota)

Thats what I wanted to hear, that there is room for a loader and cab both. Just curious...where are your loader controls located? You wouldn't happen to have a digital camera that you could take a picture? I would like to see the front of the cab and the back mounting post of the loader. Either way...thanks

I just got home with the tractor (from Michigan to Minnesota) and it appears to be everything the seller said it was except the 4 turf tires look brand new! I have to get some manuals now cuz none of the lights work or I'm not pressing the right buttons. I'll look for that power steering tube tomorrow and also confirm the year with the serial #. I have no way of knowing its past history but it was owned by the Ford Motor Co. and used as part of the groundskeeping equipment. They closed the plant and supposedly sold a whole batch of stuff to the guy I bought it from so I'm assuming Ford Motor Co. would have kept this stuff in pretty decent shape. Thanks for all the help

I have a '79 JD 950, 2WD, with loader. My front wheels are from a bobcat (I think). With a load on the loader the tie rods rub the rim and wheel. Checked with John Deere Dealer to buy the correct rims for front turf tires and to the best of his knowledge I cannot have turf tires on the front with a loader! I want to buy the correct rims but the problem is nobody seems to know what is the correct rims. Supposedly the book says 5 x 15 but that isn't wide enough to fit high-ply tires although John Deere does have 6-ply ribbed tires that will fit. I use my 950 for yard work and need turf or street tires. Does anybody know if the MFWD rims (7 x 15) will work on my 2WD 950? If I buy them and they don't work there is a 15% restock and 2 wasted tires. Also can I use either 15" or 16"????

In regaurds to JD reliability, I have owned 2 4000 series tractors recently. The first one was a 4300 and the second a 4400. The 4300 was new and cursed me with many problem to many to state, mainly in the mechanics. I just received my new 2000 4400 in Feb. I have had alot of hydraulic problems with it, and other mechanical problems. Having a tractor because of its color was the most stupid thing I have ever done. I have recently taken a part time job selling Case compact tractors. (New Holland painted Red) I wouldnt sell something to some one else if I didnt believe in the product, and this ic come from a Big JD fan.
