I have a Kubota 4700 and I have had a 15 ft Woods and now a 11 ft Land Pride. I have not been very impressed with the Land Pride. I had had many problems with the wing arm getting bent. I mow 22 acres of football fields, 16 acres of cricket pitch and 12 acres of soccer fields. I have been so unhappy with my Land Pride I bought (2) 72" Toro ZTR's to make the fields more presentable. I discussed the shortcomming of my Land Pride with my dealer and he has recieved other complaints from the other 4 people that he sold these mowers to. I am now looking at a Befco 15 ft and another dealer is trying to direct me to a Frontier with I belive is back to the Woods that I used to have.
Now on to the mowing time. I can my 22 acres of flat football fields in under 4 hours with my 15 ft, a little over 4 hours with my 11 ft. The 11 ft will leave a small area uncut when you turn, the 15 ft would not. In comparison, it takes me 6 hours to mow the 22 acres with my ZTR, but boy it looks good! I also have mowed with the 11ft LP with a Kubota 4200, not as easy to handle the tall grass as the 4700 but it does do the job.

I would be careful with the LP I hope that you like your dealer, you might be seeing him alot.

I am planning to purchase a 4710, I have had a 955 and I was not very pleased with the durability of the hydro drive for extended (8 hr a day 3 day a week) work time. I currently have Kubota 4200 with the glide shift and I have had no problems. Is the ehydro tranny more durable than the 955's? Or is my solution to go with the shuttle. I will use this tractor to pull a 12 foot bat wing finish mower, roto-till, and move dirt.

Purchasing a 4710 I think

I maintain athletic fields and the best way to accomplish what you want to do is with a topdresser. These tend to be a more specialized piece of equipment than you tend to see at rental yards, and not very many people keep a topdresser around the house. Your idea of aeration does have merit though. Aerate and pull plugs then roll the area with a roller, then mow to chop up the cores, soak the grass with water, then look to see any improvements. This may (will) take multiple time to accomplish the goal. You can also add a soil mix, similar to what you currently have in the infield, to any noticeably low areas and repeat the process. Remember to leave enough time between aerations that your grass can recover from the shock of aeration. Healthy grass 2 to 3 weeks is enough.

I use Surflan or Princep to control my crabgrass on my Bermuda. I also have a good success using Team granular for preemurgence control. There are differing schools of thought about the practice of aeration after a preemergent application, but I feel the prevailing attitude now is that core aeration causes little or no reduction in the effectiveness of a preemergent application on Turfgrass. Here in Oklahoma I need to preemerge for my summer weeds earlier that I would want to core aerate. I never core aerate prior to full green-up. Aeration is quite a shock to the plant. It needs to be actively growing to handle the aeration. So I always have my preemergent application down before mu aeration and I have had great success.
