A toothbar will increase the digging ability of your loader by a lot. I do not have a toothbar for my Kubota but plan on getting one. I used to have a bobcat with two buckets, one toothed, one flat. The difference is night and day. I think you will be very happy with a toothbar, just make sure that it is well attached.

I cannot attest to all of your applications, but I can tell you that prior to the L3400, I owned a Cub Cadet 17hp tractor. This machine had 2wd and turf tires but could brushog saplings in excess of 1" wide with ease using a 4ft model. The B7800 will probably handle a 5 foot brushog easily and there is the benfit of being able to use a mid mount mower.

I am looking for some advice on a grapple bucket for my L3400. Is it a widely useful attachment? Also, how does it attach to the loader arms and how do you hook up the hydraulics? Also, who makes the best one and how much damage might this do to my wallet? Any info would be appreciated.

I have a 1 acre lake which was built 15 years ago and have been battling algae and duckweed ever since. About a year ago we got permits (PA) for white amur (grass carp) and they have grown substantially but have not taken care of the problem. However, they are reputed to do so, and it might just take a few years. We have also had a professional pond manager in who recommended a product called Sonar AS. This herbacide was suppesed to take care of the problem, but despite its high cost (~$600/quart), it does not seem to have worked either. Taking care of small pond farms is very difficult. I am going to try a fountain next year to create more water movement. I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor and if you find an effective solution, please let everyone know.

I recently bought an l3400 hst with FEL and love it. The hydro makes it extremely manuverable, especially when doing loader work. Though 7hp does not seem like a lot, on a tractor in the 30 hp range, thats more than 20% more power. Though I am biased, I would say to go with the Kubota.

Though I am sure the B and BX series are more manueverable, the regular L series tractors are surprizingly manuverable. They will also help you load a taller truck as well as brushog well. The l3400 runs a 6ft brushog with ease.

I need advice on what to use as counterweight on my l3400 FEL. I have considered the tire weights, calcium, a box blade and the kubota weight box. What is the best/most useful?
