What is the best way to estimate tongue weight on a load? I too am guilty of using an undersized truck with my Silverado 1/2 ton having to pull a big load from time to time. I gather its just a "Kentucky windage" thing in figuring how much of then load is forward of center? Or is there a method to it? Thanks.

So, what's the general procedure you guys use with the scraper? I'm presuming you decide on how far to expose the blades based the severity of the job, and then gradually withdraw the blades as the terrain gets more and more level...is that pretty much it?

Perfecta harrow is an implement made by an Ohio company named Unverferth. They classify it as a field cultivator but I've been told it can be adjusted to do various tasks including cultipacking. Once plowing and heavy disking duties are done, some farmers put these on and that's it. <br>

Agreed, as far as the front weights. I have 400# of suitcase-style weights on the front of my tractor. But as far as weighting the wheels go, is it advisable to put weights on the front wheels AND the rear, or just the rear? This would be in trying to increase stability for working in uneven terrain, etc.

The problem, I'm told by the Hardi dealer, is that the newer JD 5000 series tractors have the lateral arms of the 3-point hitch going wider, when they go higher. The result is that some narrower Cat-1 implements are having busted lynch pins when fully lifted and the related dropped implements, etc. Just wondering if others have dealt with this at all. The hole-to-hole distance on my Hardi sprayer is 29.0". But I'm having trouble getting the JD dealer to confirm whether or not the 5320 that I'm looking at has a wider spread at full height than 29.0". THAT'S the dilemna...
