Wow! I thought about the bearing forces but as my fronts are not loaded, the tread is multi directional, and I removed the loader, I thought it made sense for stability on a side hill. It feels way more stable than my ag1 tires but that could be just the width of the turfs.

So what I'm asking is where is the harm and does anyone do his or am I he only jerk. It's no sweat to swap back. Bearing wear?

Funny you should ask. I just hooked up a rear finish mower (5 ft) to my b7800 today. I've been using a 52 inch commercial walk behind for over ten years and it takes just over 2 hrs to do my main lawn and then a few more hours to do rough lawns as well. The kubota is sweet and gives me a better cut (so far) , is easier on my body, and quieter. I can't get as close with the tractor and can trim as well. Ispent a few minutes with the walk behind ( ihave a stand on sulkey) and I was happy with the results. So here are my two cents: commercial walk behinds with a sulkey are great and you can back them up somewhat. The tractor is a bit faster, can't do the steep side hills (not yet anyways), and is easier on my body. If you have both you're golden. If you have a ton of trees and shubbery go with the walk behind.

Thanks for the comments. What is still puzzling is the goodyear tire site that claims mfwd tractors can not alter the rolling circumference to create a negative slippage less than 1 -and the margin is 5%. So if that is the case (IF!) then why does my 2005 manual have the 7800, 2910, and 2710 listed together with the approved tires that include a 23x12 and a 24x12 and a 24x14, in turf. The 23x12 would exceed the 5% rule by a small amount-so does Kubota 4 wheel drive have greater slippage front to rear than other tractors making that possible? Or do they enjoy rebuilding drivelines? Planned failure...

Excellent points as to aspect and load ratios. I had noticed that the l3400 had a turf that appeared to be the same dimension but I'm told the rims are different. So I'm pretty well stuck with wheels from the 2710,2910,3030, and 3200; I may have found a used set which is way better than new at full price (ouch).

I'd rather be sure of the correct size than have to remember not to use 4 wheel drive occasionally. thanks

Thanks for the comments. I disconnected the linkage, a rube goldberg contraption, and moved the lever that engages the PTO. Darned hard to move! Had to use a framing hammer to tap it open. Then the PTO shaft moved smoothly. After reconnecting the linkage it still took some work to get the mid PTO engaged. Now it engages smoothly so I assume it was rarely if ever used in the previous 250 hrs over 5 years.

Now if I can figure out the various kill mechanisms that require that your butt be on the seat !
