L3800,at 55 hours two problems, both should be a simple fix. Oil leak on the transmission and the micro switch which allows the the ignition system to know the tractor is in neutral does not work correctly. Enjoying the machine its doing more than expected.

We are meeting with a friend that is retired from dirt work and willing to offer guidance and supervise our efforts. He will help make the decision as to the necessity of us using the D6. The four pieces of equipment avilable for our use a 38 hp tractor with a box blade and fel, a Case backhoe, a D6 and a D9. I can move the tractor and backhoe with my own trailer, its the dozer that we might need help with. The equipment is avaliable for as long as we need it, our time line is three years before the first stick of wood is unloaded for the house. This is work we are willing to do ourselves and by no means are we going to just unload gas up and start moving dirt without some guidance on hand. Time spent researching options before telling someone what we want and handing out gobs of money seems to be the best for now, especially since we have the tools and time. Even if we dont do a professinal job we will learn from our efforts good or bad. Sitting around and watching has never been something we are good at. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming, its much appreciated.

Sounds like using land scape timbers is not the best idea for at least two reasons. One being rot at ground level, the other is the posts will become distorded, leaning over, generally in in the direction of the loads imposed by the fencing. So be it we will use the product which is made for the purpose. About the pipeline, the gas company did not have a concern other than gaining access for emergency repair. At this time we are putting in a fence with no gate and and ok with it being tore down to conduct emergency maintence. We hope cutting grass is not considered emergency maintence. Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like i need to continue what i started, saw, stack and burn. The stumps will not be a problem, replanting trees is the idea. Thats about all that will be in this area. I contacted the Forestry Dept and will be meeting with someone to help establish a long term plan. I do have two more questions 1) errosion control, some sloped area exists that has not seen direct sunlight in a long time. Is planting some type of grass a good idea? What kind and where to get it. 2)Chain Saw blades, what is the best method to keep them sharp other than not sticking it in the dirt.

No not anything in writing about the number of trees only a verbal statement (not being many trees) from the seller during the walk thru. The seller will not answer my calls. The best witness is the man that apprased the value of the land before the purchase went thru, being a witness of the amount of damage that has occured. And yes its paid for.
