I really like the power offered by the M8540. In some ways it may be a too much power. But it is my understanding that if you can afford more power, get it.<br>

The thing is it is Category II only and the 7040 is Cat I & II. I would like to add some PTO items like a concrete mixer and chipper, they are Cat I. Is there a converter from Cat I to Cat II for connecting Cat I PTO implement to a Cat II Hitch?<br>

Should I just stick with a tractor that offers Cat I & II and that would solve the issue?<br>

In addition the bucket on the 8540 is more substantial in several ways. But what I was a little more interested in was if the 7040 bucket and the 8540 bucket would both clear a dump truck for dumping.<br>

Thanks for the input. I too think its fair $. Atleast I know whatever I choose the dealer will (should) be square going forward regardless of what I choose.

I have been having second thoughts about the 8540 and leaning (on the fence) to the 7040.

I think I will start a new thread with that question. 8540 vs 7040
