Well boys... as luck would have it, right after I finished applying the urea, we had some great rainstorms, which dissolved the pellets. I had spoken to several different people with regard to urea. Ready??? the county extension guy who said to apply 100lbs/acre to the guy where i bought it who said apply 125/ acre, to the gal I'm gettin my steers from who said 50lbs/ acre, to the old farmer who I'm buyin my grain from who said 200lbs/acre.

So.... I wound up applying 1- 80lb bag/ acre or so.. Anyway's .. it looks very green! I'm just hoping that the $400 bucks I spent on pasture mix comes up. Some of it got into the soil for sure, but some was still on top. Expensive birdseed? or will it settle in also?
BTW, my soil sample came in at 6.4.

Well guys, I had my county extension guy there last year and he said that it WAS RAgweed and that I should probably just kill it all. Its not a wet area. I had heard of 2-4 d,but I'd like to try and do this without using chemicals if I can ... But I also dont wanna waste good $$$ on seed that wont take....Ive scuffed up the area pretty good with my rake. I see alot of dirt. Maybe the 2-4-d is the fastest and best way to go??

Wow Murf.. thts a good idea with the saw dust....I guess it will just dissapate after a while too??? Or should i just spread the seed,THEN run the rake over it? Or will I just end up with a big pile of seeds and dirt??

Hey Jerry, I also looked into the TC30's I was told that they are pretty much a no frills tractor. I just bought a new tc33D,with hydro, HD FEL,Ag filled tires for 16,800. Check out Forresters Equiptment in Chambersburg,PA. Nice folks. Ask for Jason....

Fortunately, I only have about 2 acres of pasture tht really collects any Oak leaves, so I got my Sears 23 hp lawn tractor started, put on my head phones, and drove all around the place cutting and re-cuting the worst spots... I had dirt and leaves and lime dust flying everywhere, but the leaves are all chopped up.. We'll see how it goes in a month or so....

I also have a NH TC33d w/a FEL and the dealer said that it wouldn't be a problem turning the front or back wheels inside out...I never realized what a narrow stance these compact tractors have in relationship to my ole 39 9N. Will I gain a considerable distance by swapping them or is it a waste of time and effort??

I've got a few of my fields that have some oak trees in them. The leaves havent blown away like usual, and I'm planning on overseeding them this spring. Should I try and blow , mulchup, or brush hog the leaves that are there? Or just not worry about them and throw seed on top of them? The dirt under the leaves tooks good, so it may be worth it to get rid of the leaves... You can tell that I'm looking for a new project to do.. can't you?
