Gerald, you really need to save your pennys and get the FEL, it works much better than you think it does and the BX will pull the Hades out of a 48 inch box blade and not only that but Kubota who takes their little BX serious is coming out with an equally useful backhoe unit for it that will also fit on other small B tractors. The manuals are available from your dealer, if he will not get them go somewhere else, unless you have a grey market tractor? The mower deck ---lift the deck to it's highest position and turn the knob down below the seat to the lock position and then put the deck lift control lever to down and the deck will drop to a locked position, the control lever should spring back to neutral. Lift the deck back up to relaease and turn knob back to a height setting for cutting Grease all points regularly is all I do, ck oil level in the gear box and change seasonaly or every 50 hours should be fine. Adjust the anti scalp wheels so that they have about 1/2 inch clearnace or so on level ground. The loader, grease after use and keep cylinder clean as possible. Welcome to the Kubota BX world, the finest mini tractor on the planet. I love mine and so do all my neigbors when they see it mow smoothly through high grasss that chokes their 25 horse Command Kohler garden tractors to a halt and does not rut up the yard like heavier full size compacts. I recently spoke to a Deere dealer while purchasing a seed spreader for my BX. He told me the BX was a run away succes for Kubota and he was crippled with nothing to offer against it. I had the tank leaking problem, just as I went into the house to call my dealer about it he called me--when he heard it was leaking he was there in 30 minutes and fixed it. When Kubota came out with a new part he came back to my house and replaced that for free. There was an upgrade to the PTO I think it was, he picked my unit up, washed it, cleaned it, changed all fluids, did the modification, sharpened and balanced my blades and returned it to me in three days---For Free, for the inconveniance! Talk about service! I just joined this list and have been reading the posts over the last several days, interesting group. My tractor now has a solid year of use and I am happy with the unit, virtually perfect and ideal for homeowner use, better than a garden type tractor but not as big as the larger compacts--just right. I could not help but notice a definite bias in this discussion. I assume JD stands for John Deere? For the money I think the Kubota BX is going to be hard to beat for the casual/residential tractor user. Talk about mowing grass, that sucker gets down and mows and even with the lug type tires I have it does not ruin my lawn. I think I will get the turf type wheel tire set also though. What does Cub Cadet have that is similar--just curious? TresCrows (three crows live in my backyard)
