I bought a Howse 30" Dirt Scoop from Todd-AgEquip. I have a JD950 with no front end loader. The amount of work that I can do as well as the amount of stuff that it can move with it is amazing. It cost less than 10% of the cost of a front end loader. I had to dig a trench around the back of my house and level off the land a bit since all of the snow melted and drained towards the house creating a nice little pond in my backyard. I dug a trench, put drainage pipe in it, fill it wil decorative stone, and it got rid of my water problem. I took a subsoiler and ripped the sod and dirt, then took the dirt scoop and scooped it up and moved it away. it was fast and I could never do that with a shovel. I wanted to go all the way around my house and build a moat, but that would be going too far? Give TODD-AgEquip a call. I ordered it from him and he had it shipped up to me in Massachusetts. He is a great guy to deal with and even emailed me later asking me how I liked it? he wnet above and beyond the call of duty to have it shipped up to me. Thanks again Todd. You will not regret buying a Dirt Scoop (it is reversible and not too heavy, but very sturdy and well built).

Thanks for the info. What I am understanding is that with the use of sleeves (or drilling the subsoiler for larger pins), I can use the Cat 0 subsoiler after modifications? The smaller traingle will not make a difference? Will it affect performance? (am I loosing stability? meaning will I have to be more careful when I use the subsoiler because it will not have the larger triangle that a Cat 1 has?). or do I just have to figure if it is worth the $50.00 I will save to buy the sleeves or drill the holes larger or will it be too much aggrevation and just buy a Cat 1 subsoiler.

Hello, I should have put more information about my situation. I have a JD950 with no loader. I really do not need a loader but do need to move primarilly loose material around as well as rocks, etc. I priced a loader and the cost doesn't justify the use (even though I would absolutely love one). I don't know anyone with a dirt scoop but have heard that they act as a good poor man's loader. My concern is King Kutter vs. Howse vs. Cimerron vs. Farm Star vs. other brands. I don't want a cheap one since I beleive in buying the best one I can afford and $200.00-$300.00 isn't a real problem. Some of them look like they are exactly the same except for color. I really appreciate the input. I don't want to spend $225.00 on one brand that has a shortcoming when an extra $50.00 or so would give me the best. I am concerned with dumping, loading, build, reversible and ease of use. Thank you
