I moved up from a 2210 to a 4115 but with the 60 MMM. I was told that the 72 MMM maybe to wide and scalp the ground if the ground was uneven at all. I would say if you are going to be doing mostly mowing the 2210 would be better if you going to be doing a lot of other things long with mowing the 4115 would be better. That is why I moved up to the 4115 was for doing the other things and it still does a nice job mowing. I looked at I think the 4200 but if I remember right it weighed 1700 lbs more. So the 4115 for me made a good choice. I have 5 acres but mow only a little over a acre. I just got a few weeks ago a 455 to go with the 4115 both 60 MMM so I am setup good now.

Anyone own a 4115 with 72 mmm

I just bought a used JD 455 from a dealer. It is a 1995 with 315 hours on it. I do not know the person that owned it but was told by the dealer he had less then a acre of ground and wanted to move up to a 2210 and that was the only reason for getting rid of the 455. It looks like it was well taken care of, the machine looks just like new. <br>

When I start it up there is a big puff of black smoke out of the exhaust. While running I can put my glove by the exhaust and pick up a slight hint of black soot on my glove but exhaust looks ok I can not realty see anything. I do not get this with my JD 4115 but that only has 30 hours on it.<br>

Is this normal to have black smoke and to be able to pick up soot on a glove too? I do not have much experience with diesel engines. The dealer says it is normal with the 455.<br>

I have not used a rake so can't say from that point of view, but would think for grading blade would be best. I have a 170' gravel driveway and the rear blade has done well for leveling gravel as well as topsoil.
Yes I have hydraulics for my front blade. What I would recommend is a hard question. Using the front blade is faster if you have a place to put (push) the snow. I do not have weights other then the ballast box loaded with bags of sand (bags so I can remove). I had some problems with my front end sliding sideways as the snow got deeper. I may need front weights to stop this???? I might say here too that I have R4 tires. I have seen some posts and would agree the JD front blade is a little small for the 4115 as far as the power but maybe not for the weight of the tractor??? In my area we had one storm of + 8" snow and driffing that is when I put the blower on. Blower worked well, lot cleaner job more control of where to put snow. I could realy put the snow out there 20-30' or so, but much slower and colder with the blowing snow. Also need to be carefull of the gravel driveway, blower can and will pick up stones, gravel and put it where you don't want it. That is mostly a problem with the first snow fall after that have a base of snow and ice over the gravel. I use the blade first or for light snow falls, so to have the gravel covered with snow/ice so less likely to pick up stones or gravel when put the blower on for heavy snow falls. With the quick change easy to change between to two, less then 5 minutes. The cost of the blower is much Vs the blade though. I have a blade, snow thrower setup on IH cub cadet 16HP I have had for 30 years and the combination always worked well. When getting the 4115 that is why I got both now much more power :-). With all this being said I guess I would say in my case if I was going to have snow over 1' a lot of the time and cost was not a problem and only wanted one item I would go with the blower. I know with a blower I can move almost any amount of snow and not be concerned where I put it can't say that about the blade.I hope this helped you, just my experience over the years.

I just traded my 2210 in last week for a 4115 mostly because of this. Now I do not know all the Technical things to explain it but the 2210 would not raise the implement high enough nor did I have the control that I have with my new 4115. On the 4115 if I move the lever a little bit the implement will move a little bit and stop, if move lever again it moves a little bit more and stops. On the 2210 if I moved the lever a little bit the implement moves slow but keeps moving if moved more it moves faster but keeps moving it does not stop unless put back to neutral.
I am sure someone will give a better answer.
The 2210 was nice but I thought over time the use of the 3-point for me would be better to up grade. So far I Really like my 4115.

The new machine (4115) came in yesterday, had the day off so stopped by to see it. Other then road salt from riding on a trailer (They picked up from another dealer) looked good sounded good. The dealer is coming out tonight to get some of the things that switch over from the 2210. I should have it at the house by the weekend. I broke the news to my wife last night first thing she said was "so I can get my new sewing machine". The sewing machine she wants will cost as much as I am paying in the difference between the 2210 and the 4115. The mower deck is really heavy duty, be a while before I can use that though.

I am confused. I have a 2210 and so far very happy with it. I see discussion about the 4110, but do not know where it fits in now. I know the 4110 is a little larger but has a smaller engine you would need to go to the 4115 to mach the power of the 2210 engine wise and then you only pickup one HP. The reason I ended up getting the 2210 in the first place was when I stopped by my dealer and was talking to the parts man (I have a 318 I keep at the lake)he said the 2210 was the deal of the century. He said look at the next model down and the next model up. It made me look closer and price more then I bought sight unseen, (they did not have one in stock). If I went for HP the 4115 would be the next step, when I asked it would be around $5000 more, have little bigger tractor, little bigger wheels, little more Hydro flow, and one HP. Do not know if it is worth the $5000. I did not ck on the 4110 price because engine wise (power) it is a lessor tractor. I also know the frame is different, but a person would need to be doing some heavy stuff to mess up any tractor frame, and I would think then the HP would come in again. So I guess in closing in the deere family do not know where the 4110 fits in. I see 2210 to the 4115 step, your thoughts????????

Yes same thing I got mine the other day after having my 2210 for months. I got a hat from the dealer too. I also got them to give me a little wagon (four wheel kid type)for my wife. When the kids were small she used theirs to wheel things around. When I was getting the 2210 (plus attachments) she said all I want is the little wagon, so I told my dealer and he brought it out when delivering the tractor. The wagon cost me a extra set of blades for my 62" MMM I was trying to get them to throw in. I got a coupon off the deere web site, saved I think 30% on the blades. I also got a coupon for a free bag that goes on the back of the seat. I ended up getting more for less anyway, the wagon cost more then the blades to begin with.

That is a very nice job, you can also do mine anytime, preferably before the snow flies. My neighbor was going to get a 2210 along with me but wanted a cab, the additional cost of the cab pushed the total cost over what he wanted to pay so he kept his old 420.

I got the maintenance manual with my 2210 it says in there for rebuilt or remanufactured engines to change oil not any later then 5 hours. My dealer gave me oil and filter and said to change after 5 hours or 5 to 10 hours. I see in the operator manual 50 hours to change the oil, that is why the question. I have always thought new oil is better then old so have always changed oils a little sooner then what is posted and have never worn out an engine yet, in anything I have Owned . I thought 50 hours a bit much for a new engine. Thanks for the other info.

Psimonson thanks for the info in your note, the web site link did not work though, so if you could provide again. My tractor gets delivered this afternoon. JD 2210, FEL 53", MMM 62", JD 4' bush hog, front blade, snow blower, imax quick hookup, balance box, rear work light, turf tires. Have a rear blade keeping from the Lo-Boy I will be selling. Been waiting awhile for it but still getting it a month before they originally thought.

My dealer also said that should not use a backhoe on this tractor. He said for as little as I would use one just go rent it. He is right, it is just the convenience thing to be able to put one on and do a little digging when you want Vs having to go rent one and pick it up. I am sure that those times would come when you are digging a little then it turns in to more and could tax the machine. I have hard clay not easy to dig. I would still like to get info then wait and see what happens with the 2210 in the future in this regard.
