I am looking for advise or whether to purchase a Kubota L4310 or New Holland TC45D? I do a ton of mowing, and I have some serious side hills. I want a good reliable stable tractor. Any suggestions? Jay@tsdp.com

You are welcome, I hope this helps you.

I do not want to state the obvious, but for the sake of safety, I will.

The only implements designed to use the 2 higher pto speeds on your tractor are Japanese tillers. Please do not try to use American implements with anything but the 1st speed.

I am a Case IH dealer, and have been importing Japanese tractors for years.
I have the specs on almost all of these tractors. If you need filters, email David at DPEquip@aol.com. He probably can get you a filter for your tractor.

WOW, I havent been here in a week and this is a BIG SUBJECT,
I am a Deere dealer, I am just now dealing with my first 4000 series tire scuff complaints.

I agree, what do I tell people? For the record I have spoken to Deere, yes they are working on it, but when will the fix be ready? Don't know, personally that is the favorite answer I like to give my customers...NOT!!!!

There is a problem, can't wait to see how they are gonna remedy this, (I know they will) but man this isn't like an adjustment , this will be a pull and replace I bet... can't relay in words how much I am sorry to here about all the problems, the only consolation I have from this is that ALL the other dealers are gonna have to deal with it also....

Don't worry about the compressor you bought. For home use, it's fine. Delicate instruments and air used for human breathing or driving pneumatic medical devices must be oil free. The minute amount of oil that gets past the piston rings won't hurt your tires, tools or equipment. The water vapor that is produced by compressing air is more detrimental to pneumatic tools. It causes the innards to rust. Thats why water seperators are used on the output. The bottom line is---Don't Worry

Al,<br>Thank you for your interest, truth is I have taken alot of 'banging' over a response in regards to this subject.<br>Yes, all new tractor models have first season glitchs, we have had our share of problems but deere as a company won't let these problems go unanswered.<br>I would say there is not a real reason to wait for the next model year. We have waited a long time to get new product to sell and these tractors have the changes we have asked for all along.<br>I will still stand by my opinion that the waiting peroid from the factory is worth it. ( I hate that it is so long, it has made it tough this year )<br>Anyhow, if you would like to chat some more about the details, please email me again, the kids have kept me busy all day and my brain is a little thin tonight.<br>Last point, definately consider Deere some more before your final decision. Art,<br>You are correct. Mitsubishi did sell in this country. As a matter of fact, the story of the Japanese/American tractors is a very complicated one. However I did not think that a complicated answer would have served the purpose of addressing the subject of brand bashing.<br>I think you are correct in your opinion of quality and customers. I would rather sell a product that I believe in, and can stand behind. I am in this for the long run, and that means making the customer glad he bought the product.<br>Thanks for the reply,<br>Jay

Catfish,<br>Watch out for this subject, it hurts like heck to pay back taxes with a penalty. In Illinois you have to raise a crop that goes to market, like hay for example, just mowing 10 acres for example will cut it. Call a tax person in an Agricultural community for details, (they tend to know what you are talking about) Best bet to pay taxes, deprciate later.<br>

Dan,<br>Don't mean to seem forward but I know of a 5400 1.5 years old 4wd loader cab, the works with 127 hours on it. Due to the death of the owner it's for sale with an 8' rotary cutter and hydraulic blade for around 36,000. Roger,<br>List price on the machine in 1997 was about 14,460.00 probably sold for around 13,800 new. Today worth around 10,000 ONLY if it is in GREAT shape. Try $ 9400.00 See what he says.<br>Not a bad tractor, sold a few along the way.<br>

Jake,<br>Call your local Deere dealer and ask for the price on a 790, you will see quickly that the price is a little steep still. The 770 was the ' price fighter ' model and is still very easy on the money. Ask the seller about 4wd,tire option,Joystick?, Mid pto... these all make a difference. If you don't know what I am talking about ask that dealer to send you all he has on compacts, it's free and may help you out.<br>Good luck<br>

John,<br>The 1070 is no longer in production so if you are looking at one it is a 98 for starters, the 4600 is it's replacement. Speaking from experience the 1070 has been unbeleivable!!! Resale on the product is unreal and demand is still up there! If the Kubota looks like newer technology then look at a 4600, not even the same ball park.<br>

Dan,<br>Yes there is, take the Kioti off the list, period. Kubota doesn't have the highest market share in the compact market for nothing. I am green to the core myself, but if I wasn't goin to by the best then I would by the Kubota second. All kidding aside the Kubota has proven itself as a money maker, word of advice when shopping around,, don't let the salesman WOW you with transmission options, determine the kind of work you want to do and fit the transmission in accordingly. For example just mowing then maybe 2wd gear, or Loader Backhoe then 4wd hydro, can't afford the hydro, then shuttle shift for the best of the two. Check the market share on the kioti, then drive to your local rental yard and see what color is on the lot. Good luck<br>

Rob,<br>Good news that you found an 855 to buy, have faith the machine is well tested and almost 'bullet proof' in my book. I manage sales for a Deere dealer in Illinois, I have sold alot of these machines and would let the tractor out of the dealership new for 13,900 all day long. The belly mower is a couple of thousand more, so to answer your question, 12,800 is TOO much for the hours on the machine, with 200 300 yeah you bet but not with 800. Don't get me wrong 800 is far from worn out (that's about 3000 in case you were wondering) BUT about 11,000 would be fair. Good Luck. JAY

I know of a 1998 model 5400 John Deere 4wd with cab and front loader with new 8' mower and 8' rear hydraulic blade. This tractor has 147 hours and is being sold due to death of the owner. The tractor is in Southern Illinois. They need 36,000 and it would be well worth it. I can email you some pictures if you would like. Good luck.<br>

I have sold alot of these little tractors, right now I have a nice 1953 GOLDEN JUBILEE 8n with new 5' rotary cutter, and new 5' box blade for $ 5000 and I will get that much. People love those tractors regardless of their inherent short comings. Maybe try 5000, with a loader and blade it should bring more than that, If you are not strapped for cash hold out, advertise it in your local paper and hold on to the phone. Yes, it may not , but why not. From experience if it is a good product don't be scared to ask. For the record I sold an 8n (no loader) for 4400! Good Luck.<br>
