I have owned my Kubota RTV since last April. Currently have 190 Hrs on engine. Have trouble with engine overheating after prolonged use in Med range. Engine seems to lack power at times to pull this machine through soft soil.

If this will always be an issue why don't you consider a hydro trans. I have used these units for 40 plus years with out any problems. Performing such operations as rototilling , Snowblowing , mowing etc. 700hrs. plus on each machine.

Interesting, I have the exact same problem. I also just purchased an L130 from Home Depot. It even smoked the first time I started it at Home Depot to load it on my trailer. I made a comment to the Home Depot Employee "why is smoking?" He said because it is new. I don't know, but when was the last time you bought a new car that smoked the first time you started up. I now have gone 15 hours with one oil change and it still smokes on start up. I talked with a service manager at Deer Creek Equipment. He said to let it go until the 25 hour oil change and bring it in if it is still smoking. I don't know if it will get better. This could be a engine design flaw. My L130 also usually backfires when turning it off even after letting idle for awhile before turning off the key. Please keep me informed of your outcome and I will keep you informed of mine.

I make furrows for my watermelons every year. I take my double disk harrow and set the front set of disk at a neutral angle leaving the back set sharply angled in. A couple of passes pulls the loose soil into a nice raised furrow. I then use my tiller and run back over it to flatten the top. If I had a lot to do it would be nice to have a special implement for that, but no more than I have to do this works out great.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good rotary mower and tiller? I<br>will be pulling them with a 42 hp (34 PTO hp) tractor over relatively<br>level but hard ground. I bought a 4WD NH2120 several months ago with a Woods 1020 6' wide loader and a Gearmore 6' box scraper. Everything has been working out fine. At one point I had three tractors on my property during the rainy season because the loader for my 2120 hadn't arrived yet. I used the 2120 about a dozen times to pull both the other tractors out of the mud. When I did get the loader on my 2120 it was like heaven on earth compared to the other tractors. The Woods loader is great and the tractor handles fine even when I have the 6' bucket (over)loaded with material. It seems to have plenty of power for grading with the box scraper, although I can't scrape a full box load with the teeth down in some of the hardest soils I have on my property which is probably understandable given it is only a 42 HP machine. The only minor complaint I have is it is a little hard to shift between the low/med/high gear ranges. This will probably get better after I mash the gears a little more. The shuttle fwd/reverse and 4 speed shifter are great. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I bought a NH2120 (34 PTO HP, 42 engine HP) with a Woods 1020 loader and Gearmore box scraper several months ago. I've moved a fair amount of dirt so far and am very happy with the setup. Now I'm getting ready to put about 5 acres into irrigated grass pasture. Any suggestions on how big a roto-tiller I can pull? Same question for a mower. I'm leaning toward a bush hog rotary mower as I also have some rolling hills full of brambles and brush to maintain but am open for any and all suggestions.<br>Thanks

I looked at the tractor in the URL named. The tires look to me to be Goodyear<br>Terratires. I just bought a set for my JD 650 in 31x15.50-15NHS. They have a <br>fairly agressive tread, but also the extra width to lower ground pressure. <br>So far they are working just great- good traction, but less ruts. The tractor <br>is at home, so I don't have the exact model. I also couldn't find this exact<br>tire on the Goodyear website, but they are available. JJ,<br>Al and RogerL are right on in their comments. I believe you would be suprised<br>at how powerful a

(as measured on the PTO, since this is the point at which attachments are driven)
with a loader, 5 ft mower, 50 inch rototiller, and post hole digger. I previously
had a gas 27 hp lawn/garden tractor that was a toy compared to this machine. I
am an engineer that enjoys using the tractor for general use around my property-
landscaping, soil conditioning, pulling small trees, hauling, mowing. It would be
plenty big enough and reliable enough to do these things as a business. In the
larger horsepower range you reference, the tractors get large enough to work
small to medium size farms. They will do all the jobs you list and more. I'd
recommend you visit the websites from John Deere, Ford, Massey Ferguson, etc.
and see what they advertise as uses and look at the attachments available.

I'm running a JD550 behind my JD650 tractor- 14.5 pto hp. I'm in fairly good <br>soil without a lot of rocks. Under these conditions, this small tractor handles<br>the tiller with no problems. But I can tell when I hit good-sized rocks because<br>the whole rig bounces. So I agree with Brent. I think your tractor will handle<br>this tiller fine, unless you are planning to run in very severe conditions like<br>rocky soil, or in a business. The advantage of the 5 ft width is that the tiller<br>always covers your tire tracks. The 550 can also be offset to get extra close<br>to fences or trees if you have extra wide tires.<br>
