I just purchase a jd 850 1984. however the brakes donot work. Any ideas?

I have a Mits D1550 FD also I got a Manual from Bill Rogers for a Satoh s470 which is just about the same one. I like the tractor, have a front end loader.

I am having a hard time believing what you are saying. Basically you say, " that all lenar tractors are junk".

How do you expalin the fact that every other lenar owner who has posted, seemed to be pleased. I even researched old post from lenar owners, both hear and on one of the other boards. And well, they seem pleased with the tractor.

So this leads me to think that either you did not know what to expect with a chinese tractor, and or your dealer did not assemble them correctly, and or you are overexxagerating your problems.

Where does it appear to be leaking oil? Is it hydralic oil or engine oil.

John, I never even thought about the rear end or how it's sealed, thanks. Our creek is more wet whather than anything else. It's only about a foot deep normally, but I don't know how deep I'd go if I ever dug the tires down in the gravel. I stopped on the way to work to get a Kubota4300 brosure, but I have'nt got back into town to take a look at it yet. Do youhave to constantly shift the JD when your sing the FEL or do you have shuttle shift. I'm not real sure I want to shift constantly, but then again, I'm always having trouble with my forward gear popping out on my MF30, and it's a shuttle shift. I really liked how the hand controls on the NHTC33. Don't you wish you could take a little of each brand and put it all together. I'm going to keep looking and reading and I'll keep you all filled in.

Although my thoughts and questions are not cub cadet related, it seems this thread has turned into a basic education in hydraulics in which I am very interested. I just purchased a 1996 L35 Kubota TLB with 435 hours, without refering to the owner's manual I believe this tractor has an open center hydraulic system with approxiamley 17 GPM hydraulic flow. I have set up an remote hydraulic valve on the backhoe for a thumb which I plan to install in the future. Having this extra set of remotes on the hoe I am dreaming up many hydraulicly powered implements that I could mount. The most usefull of them being a hydraulicly powered post hole digger which would mount in place of the bucket. Has anyone ever set up such a similar powered auger on either a hoe or loader? Would it be possible to build this device using a standard 3 point mounted auger, removing the PTO shaft and mounting a hydraulic motor. Would I have enough pressure and/or GPM to run the motor? Could the motor be direct drive or would it have to use chain and sproket to change RMP/ratio? I know that this is a lot of questions but in reading the above thread I realized that there is a lot of combined knowlege of the people replying to above.

CARL-I have a 1990 Ford model 1920 and was wondering why you need a new engine. My 1920 has 2600 hrs, and other than a little blue smoke it is a great tractor.

I LIVE IN CONNECTICUT AND PLAN ON BUYING A B2710 WITH A FRONT END LOADER AND AG TIRES.I SEE CURTIS MAKES A LOADER BLADE THAT YOU CAN PUT ON IN PLACE OF THE BUCKET. HOW WELL DO THESE WORK? I HAVE A 750' GRAVEL DRIVEWAY. DOES A REAR BLADE WORK BETTER? ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE HELPFUL.

A co-worker and his brother both have Honda's. They both use regular oil of no particular brand. One Honda has 250,000+ miles and the other has 280,000 miles. Neither engine has ever been opened. You are wasting your money with synthetics. The brand and model of the engine has more to do with how long it lasts than the type of oil. The rest of the parts on these cars are wearing and rusting out, so what would you gain if the engine lasted even longer? With 280,000 miles of oil changes just think how much extra money would be spent on synthetics. Synthetics may be better but who needs it?

How about using a different fuel. I have read about bio-diesel, it is supposed to smell like french fries when used. In the 60's the army had diesel trucks that could run on almost any fuel including vegetable oil or peanut oil. You might have to change things like the pump and filter, but it may be easier than propane.

Maybe there was something wrong with your hydro. I can't stall mine even if I try. I usually use the loader at about 1800 RPM, never over 2000 RPM. I think hydro is great. If you like it better in a lawn tractor, you will like it better in a compact, especially for loader work or mowing.

The PTO shaft speed may be higher with a mid mount but the blade tip speed is no different on mid or rear mount decks. The gearing is just different. Blade tip speed is what matters not RPM.

It has been a few years since I checked out the Kioti as well. The thing that bothered me the most about them was the dealers. I went to 4 different Kioti dealers. They all told untrue stories about how they are just like Kubotas,were designed by the same people, etc, etc. Some of the dealers spent half the time I was with them focused on this subject. Since I later found out these stories are untrue, each of the dealers was lying to me, and that is not the type of people I want to deal with. In addition the Kioti dealers I went to were low budget operations that may not have as much experience or be around as long as the major brand dealers in my area.<br> My impressions of the tractors were similar to Roger. Older technology and lower quality fit and finish than the major brands, however I was dissapointed with their price as well. When comparing the same size tractors with the same features the price is not much different than the major brands. The price usually seems lower when comparing the older technology less features with newer technology and more features but not when comparing apples to apples. The resale is not as good as the major brands.<br> The tractors may not be bad, but I don't trust the dealers.

I have a John Deere 4200 gear that I use to move logs. Its 26hp and what I do is put a draw bar in the bottom 3pt. hitch. That way i can attach a clevis and hook a chain to the log. When dragging the log, I raise trhe 3pt hitch a little, this allows the log to pass over obstacles and its much easier on the tractor. The lift capacity for the 3pt. hitch is approx. 1500 lbs.
