That sounds like a good deal. In central FL. a 2001 JD790, FWD
sale price was 12000 + 2300 for a fel. I got a 2000 mdl. with FEL,345 hours and a new 5' brushcutter for 12000. I have been very pleased with its performance. The Fel has saved me lots of work and I have used it more than the mower. Good luck JOHN

I have A JD790 w/FEL and it picks up a slightly overfull bucket of dirt,and many other things I am glad I don't have to pickup. I do have a question ???? What is a four in one bucket??? Thanks in advance. JOHN

This question is not exactly in line with this thread, but can someone tell me the general differencs between the JD4100 and a JD790 ??? approx. is fine.I have the 790 and am just curious. Thanks in advance. JOHN

Hello ???

I have a JD70 FEL and my bucket was bent when I purchased it. (used) I have had good suggestions on correcting it and will do it this winter (FL. type). I can not help you with a comparison of modern buckets as this is my first newer tractor. The OLD JD buckets appear to be built heavier than my 2000 mdl. as I have used one on a mid 70's JD 850 and it IS heavier built. I guess it's the new cheaper design. I have not noticed any bending of the arms, but I will inspect them this weekend. I have attempted lifting things where all that happens is the front goes down and the arms quit going up. I hope the hydraulics will not excede the strength of the design. Thanks for the info. JOHN

I bought a JD790 ,FEL,4WD,Gear and have not regreted the decision. I have 10 acers, mostly wooded and a mtd 42 inch mower. It took almost 3-4 hours to mow the grass and cleared areas under the many trees. I have also used the mower to pull a lawn trailer for yard waste and move dirt. I have worn the rear end slap out(6 yrs). The tractor costs over ten times the cost of the mower but I hope to get 20 years or more out of the tractor. The FEL is GREAT and it has been used to move dirt ,lift telephone poles,scrape,clear brush ,mow brush&grass,and operate a post hole digger drilling over 200 holes and operate other 3ph implements. The tractor has allowed me to mow in about 1 and 1/2 hours and lift/move many heavy objects.Whatever brand get a 24-30 hp Tractor. Good luck with your quest.

I have a 2000 mdl. JD790 with FEL and 4WD. The unit has more power than I expected and the 4wd really helps as it seems to have more power/torgue. The set up with the steering/fel controls/shifting and pedels is fine for me, but you would have to decide for yourself. The thing it has taken me awhile to get used to is how high up the operator sits, the seatbelt makes me feel better when going over bumpy terrian and i am getting used to it.Another thing I am not used to is the movement of the FEL ,as it is a quick connect type. All of my previous exp. has been with FEL that was bolted on. I have not had any problems with it coming loose or falling off.Thats pretty much it for now, I can not give any info ot the TC30.

Hello jyoutz!!
I like the idea of strengthing the bucket and adding the hooks at the same time. The bolting idea is gaining favor with me over the welding as it is somthing I can do. If needed it can be removed and repaired or changed and down here, rust treatment can be performed.I will have to assemble my material and do this as a winter project.Thanks to Everyone who has provided great advice.

I hope your information search is very productive. I have learned alot from questions that have been posted on the board and realize most of the answers come from experence. I think my shifting is of the regular type ( push clutch-shift gear)and have no problems, as thats all I have ever used. An automatic (HA-HA) would be nice.I did not understand your question on shifting and using the FEL. I may have to accelerate when digging ,but only when I want to push harder than the throttle setting. Tell me what you find out from the "brosure" you have on the kub.4300. To answer your question,"I sure wish I could pick the great options on each model/make and have it built"
